Many INFPs and highly sensitive individuals struggle with feeling drained by the people around them. If you often feel like a sponge for other people's moods, this video offers a different perspective on how energetic protection actually functions. You will learn how to shift your mindset from passive absorption to active generation of your own emotional state. Drawing on a concept from Antonia Dodge, I explain why you are not actually taking on the feelings of others. Instead, you are often generating those responses within yourself. By changing how you view this process, you can reclaim your boundaries and stop feeling responsible for the emotional climate of every room you enter. This approach is essential for anyone looking to improve their emotional intelligence and maintain stability. INFP and the Quest for a Fulfilling Career

️ Grab the FREE INFP Personality Type Tutorial → https://geekpsychology.com/infp ▶️ Join a community of INFPs. Check out Evolve → http://evolve.geekpsychology.com When I was about 29, I was cold-calling Japanese banks from a tiny cubicle and lying just to keep my job. I sat there with a a phone to my ear, trying to persuade strangers while everything inside was screaming at me to stop. I hated it. It wasn't my calling (pun intended), it wasn't my dream career, and it certainly wasn't inspiring. But I needed money to survive. I was reading a message from an INFP asking how to stop overthinking career choices and actually start applying for jobs. They said, "How can I make career job decisions more quickly? And moving from the internal brainstorming phase to actually doing something in real life, like applying. LOL. " We do that a lot, don't we? We add a light emoji or a quick joke to the end of a heavy admission when things feels too uncomfortable. The trouble with overthinking a big move is that we mistake research for progress. You read another job description. You weigh five different potential paths. You imagine every scenario where you might fail or regret your choice. But every single piece of information you gather without taking action just adds weight. Before you know it, you’re carrying this massive bag of heavy possibilities, completely paralyzed, unable to take a single step forward. I used to think I had to find the perfect path before I could begin. But my past wasn't a clean, linear journey. I’ve been a Subway "sandwich artist" making five dollars an hour. I worked on a restaurant boat on Lake Biwa. I taught English in Korea and Japan. I did coaching and hypnosis. None of those felt like "the answer" when I started. But each one gave me a real data point. I learned what drained me, what hooked me, and what aligned with who I was. You don't figure out your life by thinking about it in a vacuum. You figure it out by going into the world, getting real experience, and adjusting as you go. Being afraid of making the wrong choice doesn't protect you from failure, but it does keep you from making progress. If you’re stuck right now, try making one small move before you do any more research. Ask your future self if this endless hesitation is actually serving you, or if it's just fear disguised as planning.
