    Jesus in the Book of Zechariah: The Zechariah series, part 25 (14:16-21)

    Zechariah is maybe the most Jesus-focused book in the whole Old Testament. There were times while we were studying this book that I even forgot it was Old Testament. That’s how future-focused it is.  And today, we’re gonna wrap it all up. So my plan for today is to recap what we’ve studied in this book, with a particular emphasis on Jesus. Let’s highlight all the places that spoke about Jesus’ first AND second comings. I’d like to share what some of my favorite episodes were here.  And after that, we’ll take a look at the last six verses of chapter 14.  And then: we’ll talk about which book we could study next—and give you a chance to weigh in on whether you’d even like to the podcast to continue at all.  That’s what we’ll do today on the God and His Prophets podcast.     The Second Coming of Christ in Slow Motion: The Zechariah series, part 24 (14:1-15)

    You’re probably familiar with this story from the beginning of Jesus’ ministry:  Luke 4:16-20 16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. And as was his custom, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and he stood up to read. 17 And the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was given to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it was written, 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,     because he has anointed me     to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives     and recovering of sight to the blind,     to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.” And then it says this 20 And he rolled up the scroll and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all in the synagogue were fixed on him.  Very familiar story for a lot of us who have read the gospels. Made a lot of people unhappy, but it was a very positive message: the first time Jesus came, as you know, His purpose was to set people free. Free from the devil, free from their sicknesses, free from their sin. But did you know he didn’t finish His sentence? He pulled open the book of Isaiah, started reading at chapter 61, and He stopped at a comma. Let’s go look at the original words.  Isaiah 61, starting at verse 1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,     because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor;     he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives,     and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor, And that’s where Jesus stopped reading, but here’s what came next in the original passage:     and the day of vengeance of our God That was the part He left out. And why? Because that wasn’t His mission in His first coming. The Day of Vengeance of Our God would be reserved for His Second Coming.  And that’s what I want to talk about today on the God and His Prophets podcast.     Another Holocaust: The Zechariah series, part 23 (13:1-9)

    Last week, we covered what needs to happen before Jesus returns. The Jewish people must look on Him whom they pierced and mourn.  Once you understand that, you understand this demonic hatred of the Jewish people. Now you understand the spirit behind antisemitism. Now you understand why there was a holocaust.  But I have some really unpleasant news to share today from Bible prophecy: Zechariah 13 tells us there will be another. Another holocaust.  And … it will be twice as bad as the first one.  We will learn about that today on the God and His Prophets podcast.     Him Whom They Pierced: The Zechariah series, part 22 (12:10-14)

    The first verse of the Bible, we all know it:  (Genesis 1:1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  It’s 10 words in the English, 7 words in the Hebrew.  BUT- did you know that there’s an extra word in the Hebrew version of that verse which is not present in any English translation of Genesis 1:1? And that’s because it’s not a word. It says “in the beginning God” And then there’s a word that’s not really a word “Created the heavens and the earth” And this word which is not a word only shows up in two chapters of the Bible. Genesis chapter 1 and Zechariah chapter 12. So…what is the word that’s not a word?  You’ll find out today on the God and His Prophets podcast.     The Bible is not just a book about things that happened a long time ago. It’s a book about things that still happen today. Human nature. Spiritual realities. A God who never changes.  The Bible is alive, and if you just read it as being stories about events that happened a long time ago, you’ll miss the relevance it has to your life. The Bible is a book about things that always happen. And prophecy is like that as well. Prophecy is not just about events that are going to happen someday in the future.     If You’re Looking for the Antichrist, Watch for THIS Instead

    If you’re watching for the Antichrist, if you’re speculating as to who he could be, you’re looking for the wrong thing.  Because the Bible does speak of a future antichrist—and he is coming at some point—but there is another major sign that must take place before the Antichrist can appear.  And it’s not the rapture. And I do think that the rapture will happen before the Antichrist appears, but that’s kind of a debatable point; there’s some wiggle room on that question amongst Christians. There’s something else that must happen before the Antichrist can appear. And this one is not debatable: it’s 100% clear when you read the prophetic timeline.  And once you learn what it is, you won’t be on the lookout for the antichrist anymore.     Why the Antichrist's Mark is on the Right Hand or Forehead: The Zechariah Series, part 20 (11:15-17)

    What does the antichrist look like? I won’t pretend I know who it is. I won’t even guess. Frankly, I don’t even care. I don’t plan to be here when he shows up. And the Bible doesn’t exactly give us any hints about his hair color, his eye color or his favorite song by the Rolling Stones.  BUT in one place it does give us one description of his physical appearance. It might also give us a big hint as to what this mysterious “mark of the beast” is all about in the end times. And you’ll find out what that is today on the God and His Prophets podcast.     The Flock Doomed to Slaughter: The Zechariah Series, part 19 (11:4-14)

    We all know the story of Judas- he betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. But why that amount- was there any significance to it? Well, it does show up in the book of Exodus as the price of a slave.  But what is the connection between the price of a slave and the price for which Judas betrayed Jesus? The book of Zechariah is gonna tie those two things together, and you’ll learn what that is as we study some Messianic Prophecy today on the God and His Prophets podcast.
