    The Shepherd Is the Promise

Psalm 23 is one of the most familiar passages in Scripture, but its promise is deeper than comfort in difficult circumstances. “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.” The promise is not the removal of every valley, obstacle, or difficult season. The promise is Him. In Part 1 of Psalm 23, we look at what it means for the Lord to be our Shepherd and why surrendering to His leadership changes everything.

Why Church Was Never Just About Sundays | Acts 2:42–47 | Vertical Life Church

We are all being formed by something. Our culture, family, experiences, and priorities have shaped what we believe community should look like. But Acts 2 gives us a different picture—a people devoted to Jesus and committed to a shared life together. In the final message of our Community series, we look again at the early church and what their devotion produced: shared faith, shared life, and shared tables—and what that means for how we build Christ-centered community at Vertical Life.

Why We're Never Really Present | John 11:17-35 | Vertical Life Church

We are more connected than ever, yet increasingly absent from the people right in front of us. In John 11, Jesus shows us something powerful about love: He was present. He entered the grief of people He loved, even when He already knew the answer. If we want to look like Jesus, we have to learn how to be present. And if we want real biblical community, presence isn't optional.

How Will The World Know We Follow Jesus? | John 13:34-35

Jesus said the world would know that we are His disciples by the way we love one another. But Christian love is more than being nice. Jesus Himself is the standard. The Father’s love is the source. And the way we love His people becomes evidence of who we belong to. In John 13:34–35, Jesus gives His disciples this command in the shadow of betrayal and denial: “Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.” In this message, we look at what biblical love actually requires, why Christian community is necessary to obey Jesus’ command, and why we cannot love this way without first abiding in the Father’s love. Jesus’ love is the standard. The Father’s love is the source. Our love is the evidence.

Why Most People Leave After 3 Years | Biblical Community

It's usually not theology. It's not the worship. It's offense they never dealt with. The book of Proverbs gives us three principles for community that actually lasts. Give instead of take. Build up instead of tear down. And never let sin against you produce sin in you. Your spiritual maturity isn't measured by what you know. It's measured by your ability to stay in relationship when it gets hard.

Are You Really Committed to a Church? | Biblical Community

We say we want community. But have we actually built our lives for it? Acts 2 describes Christians who weren’t casually connected to a church. They were devoted—to Jesus, to His Word, and to one another. They shared meals, opened their homes, met needs, carried burdens, and built their lives around a spiritual family. Our culture has discipled us toward something very different: busyness, individualism, consumerism, and connection without presence. Biblical community isn’t about finding people who meet all your needs. It’s one of the places God forms you into the likeness of Jesus. So the question isn’t simply, “Do you attend a church?” Are you committed to a people? And can they count on you?

You Can Believe the Bible and Still Be Deceived

The danger isn’t that you’ll reject God’s Word. It’s that you’ll admire it while other voices disciple you. Every one of us is being shaped by something: our feelings, experiences, pain, culture, or the people around us. In this message, we look at what it means to put on the belt of truth, allow the Word of God to confront and renew our thinking, and move from simply admiring Scripture to actually living it. The question isn’t just, “Do I believe God’s Word?” It’s, “Is His Word actually shaping the way I live?”

    Know The Word

Are you being deceived without knowing it? In this message, Pastor Andrew traces the temple of God from the Garden of Eden all the way to YOU, and reveals why becoming a person of the Word is the only way to protect yourself from deception and house the presence of God. If the early church needed the Word to prepare for Pentecost, and even the Pharisees sang the prophecy they were fulfilling without realizing it, what makes us think we're immune? This message will challenge you to stop gambling your eternity on someone else's revelation and start building your spiritual house on the rock.
