    148. The FREE Things That Make Your Beauty Business Look More Professional

What actually makes your beauty business look and FEEL professional to your clients? When we think about elevating our businesses, it's easy to immediately think about the things we can spend money on: better branding, a prettier studio, a fancy website, new decor...and the list goes on! But in this episode, I'm breaking down the things that can make your lash or beauty business feel more professional without spending another dollar. Because professionalism isn't only about having the prettiest lash room in your city. It's about the experience your clients have with your business from the moment they find you online to the moment they leave their appointment and beyond. In this episode, we cover: 💖 Why communication is one of the biggest pieces of professionalism and the touch points you should consider throughout your entire client experience. 🦋 How to clearly communicate your policies, set expectations with clients, and create boundaries without nickel-and-diming them for every little thing. ✨ Why cleanliness and the overall presentation of your space matter, whether you're working from home or in a studio. 💖 How your personal presentation can help you show up as the professional and face of your business without needing to be completely done up every day. 🦋 Why your online presence is part of your client experience and the importance of keeping your social media, website, booking links, Google Business Profile, services, pricing, and other information up to date. ✨ The underrated importance of simply doing what you say you're going to do and how consistency, communication, and follow-through build trust with your clients. You don't need expensive branding or the most beautiful studio to give your clients an incredible, professional experience. Be clean, communicate well, respect your clients' time, follow through on your word, and make it easy to do business with you. Those little things can help you build a loyal clientele that books again and again! Let's Be Friends! 147. The Opportunities You’re Missing by Playing Small

How many opportunities are you missing out on simply because you're afraid to put yourself out there? In this episode, I'm sharing a little bit of a vulnerable realization I've had lately: after YEARS of preaching about getting outside of your comfort zone, I've found myself feeling cringy about putting myself out there again. And it made me wonder...how much could we be holding ourselves back in our businesses without even realizing it? I share some of the opportunities I've received over the years simply because I was willing to ask, apply, pitch myself, and put myself out there, along with plenty of times I've been told no. Because the reality is, you might hear a lot of no's along the way, but sometimes all it takes is one yes to completely change the trajectory of your business. In this episode, we cover: 💖 How fear of judgment and feeling "cringy" can quietly hold you back from opportunities and growth. 🦋 Why you sometimes have to be a little delusional, have the audacity, and put yourself out there before you feel completely ready or qualified. ✨ Real examples of opportunities I've received simply because I asked, applied, pitched myself, or made the connection first. 💖 Why getting told no is part of the process and how to keep going even when rejection or disappointment hits. 🦋 How I've turned some of my own no's and disappointments into completely different opportunities for my business. ✨ My challenge for you through the end of 2026 to get out of your own way, be BIG and bold, and see what happens when you start putting yourself out there more. Your next client, collaboration, speaking opportunity, brand partnership, or big business move could be waiting for you, but you'll never know if you don't give yourself the chance to hear YES. So let's stop deciding we're not ready or qualified before anyone else gets the chance to decide for themselves. Put yourself out there and see what happens! Let's Be Friends! 146. Lash Extension Allergies vs. Irritations: How to Tell the Difference

One of the most common questions lash artists face is: "Is my client having an allergy, or is it just irritation?" In this episode, I break down the key differences between lash extension allergies and irritations, why it's important to know the signs of each, and how to confidently troubleshoot client concerns while staying within your scope of practice. Drawing on nearly 12 years of experience as a lash artist and educator, I also shared why continuing your education is one of the best investments you can make in your career and why it's okay to question outdated industry advice as new research, products, and techniques continue to evolve. In this episode, we cover: 💖 Why the lash industry is constantly evolving and why continuing education matters. 🦋 The importance of questioning outdated information and staying current with industry best practices. ✨ The differences between a true adhesive allergy and an irritation including the common signs and symptoms of each type of reaction. 💖 Why lash artists should never diagnose or recommend medications for clients. 🦋 When it's time to refer a client to an optometrist or other medical professional. ✨ Practical troubleshooting tips to help keep your clients safe, comfortable, and coming back to you again and again. Whether you're a new lash artist or have years of experience behind the tweezers, this episode will help you better understand how to identify common issues, improve the client experience, and continue growing as a knowledgeable beauty professional! 144. Pricing for Profit, Building a Business That Fits Your Life & Why Social Media Still Matters with Valerie Ochoa

What if you stopped pricing your lash services based on what everyone else is charging...and started pricing based on the life you actually want to build? In this episode of Lash Biz Babes, I talked with Valerie Ochoa (@valthelashgal on IG) to talk about building a profitable lash business with intention. Val shares how a $800 lash training at 19 years old completely changed the trajectory of her life, eventually leading her to open The Dollhouse Salon Suites, launch a board-accredited lash academy, and open her town's first lash supply store. We talked about one of the biggest struggles beauty professionals face: making your business financially sustainable without burning yourself out. Val explains her "working backwards" pricing method, why every lash artist's pricing should be different, and how understanding your income goals can completely change the way you run your business. We also have an honest conversation about social media, why likes don't always equal bookings, and how showing up consistently (even when you don't feel like it) is one of the most powerful forms of marketing available to beauty professionals! In this episode, we cover: 💖 Val's journey from brand-new lash artist to salon owner, educator, and lash supplier 🦋 Why conferences and networking accelerated her business growth ✨ How to price your services based on your income goals instead of your competitors 💖 Common pricing mistakes that keep beauty professionals underpaid 🦋 The truth about social media marketing and what actually converts followers into paying clients ✨ Why viral content isn't always the goal 💖 Building confidence as a business owner (and why therapy became one of Val's biggest business investments) Here's a little about Val: "Valerie Ochoa is the owner of The Dollhouse, which she has grown over the past 3.5+ years into a thriving lash business, board-accredited academy, and her town's first lash supply store. She has trained and licensed 44 students through her academy and is passionate about helping beauty professionals create financial freedom and build a life they love through the lash industry. When she's not working, you'll usually find her at the movies or scrapbooking." In this episode, I broke down one of the most important (and often overlooked) parts of building a successful beauty business: client retention.
