Karolina Wydra | 'Pluribus' Emmy Nominee Opens Up About Her Hollywood Break & Friendships with Rhea Seehorn & Caitríona Balfe

Karolina Wydra joins Son of a Binge host Reshma Gopaldas to talk all about her triumphant return to television in Vince Gilligan's Pluribus, also starring Rhea Seehorn. Wydra began her career as a model, then went on to appear in various television shows and films. She hung with the slutty vampires in True Blood, rolled in the medical world in House, flirted with Ryan Gosling in Crazy, Stupid, Love, and snuck around with Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston in Sneaky Pete. In 2020, the with everyone being stuck at home, Wydra decided it would be a good time to start a family. Her agent and manager promptly dropped her. Oof, wait to support women Hollywood. After her Hollywood break... up, Wydra went on to have two boys. Then she got a call. Or rather an email. The team behind Vince Gilligan's Pluribus wanted her to audition.  While on vacation with her good friend, Caitríona Balfe (Outlander, Sense & Sensibility), she found out they wanted to screen test her. With no agent or manager, Wydra panicked, but Balfe stepped in to help.  Wydra got the role of Zosia, and it's hard to imagine anyone else playing her. She opens up about what it's like working with Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn. She breaks down their characters' relationship, first kiss, and what it's really like working with Seehorn. She also talks about the female friendships that have sustained her in both the modeling and acting industries. Wydra was just nominated for an Emmy for Supporting Actress in a Drama series for her role as Zosia.  Pluribus is streaming now on Apple TV.  Subscribe to Reshma Gopaldas on YouTube for video episodes. Karolina's video episode will drop on August 18, 2026. What We Need to See From the Emmy Nominations: From 'Hacks' to 'Outlander' 'to 'Widow's Bay'

Aramide Tinubu (Television Critic, Variety) and Kate Erbland (Editorial Director, IndieWire) join Reshma Gopaldas to discuss the upcoming Emmy nominations and what we hope to see. Erbland explains the voting process as we lead up to the nominations on July 8. We talk about the shows that have been largely ignored by the Television Academy, what shows you won't see being recognized, why The Bear has never belonged in comedy and why it might, for the first time, not see much Emmy recognition this round. Widow's Bay is a new entree on the table, and is pushing The Bear off the menu, with Matthew Rhys leading the horror comedy. This year marks a final bow for Outlander, Hacks, The Bear and more. Will Caitríona Balfe finally get the Emmy acknowledgement and accolades for her work over the last 10 years on Outlander? Patina Miller also ends her run on Raising Kanan and Tinubu says her work has been stand out, yet largely ignored. Erbland shouts out Kate O'Flynn for her turn in Widow's Bay. Rhea Seehorn and Karolina Wydra's work in Pluribus is sure to get recognition for their apocalyptic antics. Lisa Kudrow is back with The Comeback, and Euphoria gave its final bow, but did Zendaya's performance break through the challenges of the final season? The Pitt will also dominate the nominations, with Noah Wyle at the forefront. For limited series, Tinubu says Sarah Pidgeon is the sole reason why Love Story captivated everyone.
