Book Tours, Baby Steps & Big Kids

Sarah has a BOOK coming out!!! We’re officially two weeks out from the release of When I’m Not With You, and Sarah has been BUSY. Between the promotional tour, book signings and launching a book while also, you know… mothering, we’re catching up on all things BOOK BABY. Speaking of babies… BOTH of ours started walking in the exact same week. Just a couple of babies coordinating milestones from opposite sides of the world. Meanwhile, Wyatt has started HIGH SCHOOL (!!), sending us down a rabbit hole about big kids, independence and the slightly rude realization that they do, in fact, keep growing up. We also get into the wild world of Down Under school fundraisers and our latest obsession: what kind of childhood do we actually want to create for our kids? More space to run wild… or living in town where they can jump on their bikes and have friends, the beach, the skate park and a little community at their fingertips? PLUS, we’re chatting about what’s next for The Mother Daze, memberships, more solo eps and how much we LOVE bumping into Dazeys in the wild. Books are being birthed, babies are walking, teenagers are teenager-ing and apparently nobody got the memo to slowwww down! Dropping balls, brain farts & are these our last babies!?

Are these babies our last?! This week we’re sitting in that very weird space between babies growing up and big kids flying the nest, with Isaac heading off to college, Wyatt officially becoming a teenager and Esme hitting double digits. Meanwhile, the toddlers are TODDLERING, and somehow no matter how many children you’ve had, a full-blown tantrum can still make you feel like a first-time parent. We chat about communicating with little ones before they have the words for their giant feelings, some of our tried-and-true resources like RIE parenting and Dr. Siggie, and the impossible juggle of emotionally regulating one child while four others need you RIGHT NOW. Then there’s the mother load. Too many tabs open, unanswered emails, dropped balls, four different schools for Teresa, two for Sarah, attempting to delegate while also feeling like you’re letting everyone down, and discovering that your only available “work hours” are 9–11pm… when you can barely keep your eyes open. Plus, meet the newest member of the Palmer family: Velvet the miniature horse, Prairie’s very magical and surprising last minute 5th birthday present. And somehow we end up maybe with the greatest podcast moment of all time when Sarah has an absolutely spectacular Sigourney Weaver/Carrie Fisher brain fart that sends us down a wildly inaccurate pop-culture rabbit hole and has us crying laughing. Toddlers, Teens and a Damn Stingray!!!

This week on The Mother Daze, the fires in Canada bring up some big feelings for Sarah’s kids, stirring memories of losing their home, smoke-filled skies, masks and even Covid. Then it’s straight into the chaos: Esme gets stung by a stingray, Sarah mistakes Eric’s sunscreen-covered face for a jellyfish attack, Esme turns 10 and Sarah is about to be mothering a teen… watch this space!! Meanwhile, Lotus and Ocean have suddenly turned into toddlers, eating sand, shoving everything into their mouths, unleashing pterodactyl screams and developing some VERY strong opinions about food. Plus, we talk about the not-so-fun art of actually following through on boundaries, embracing our changing faces, hereditary dark circles and why seeing real women age in a sea of smoothed, tweaked and perfected faces matters more than ever. Own or Be Owned: Motherhood, Money & Making Yourself Less Needed with Codie Sanchez

This week on The Mother Daze, we’re joined by powerhouse entrepreneur, contrarian thinker and author Codie Sanchez for a conversation about ambition, motherhood, money and the sneaky ways we can become the biggest obstacle to our own freedom. Ahead of the release of her new book, Own or Be Owned, Codie shares what it really means to build a business so good it doesn’t need you. We also talk Codie’s incredibly exciting news, she’s pregnant with her first child! She opens up about sharing her five-year journey to conceive publicly, what it means to be honest about something so deeply personal as a public figure, and why she wanted other women walking that road to know they’re not alone. We talk about taking fertility for granted and what it looks like to integrate building a family with building a business, chasing a dream and still having a life. We dive into Codie’s world of contrarian thinking, boring businesses and ownership, why women so often downplay what they’re building as a “side hustle” or “little project,” and what it takes to build something that actually gives you more freedom. Plus, the Hero Complex, martyrdom, delegating, getting unstuck when your ideas feel stagnant, and two-way-door decisions. It’s a big juicy one about owning your ambition, your choices, your time and the life you actually want to build. Losing Our Marbles, The Mother Load & Meltdowns!

This week on The Mother Daze we’re solo-ing it and Tez is too… solo parenting coming up on WEEK FIVE! Wahooooo!  The Palmer kids are back in school, there’s explosive baby diarrhea, sore booties, diaper-free disasters and multiple kid meltdowns happening AT THE SAME TIME. Just another relaxing week in motherhood! We chat the absolute beast that is the mental load, the 900 tabs permanently open in a mother’s brain, and how sometimes even delegating feels like another bloody thing to do. Tez shares her pal’s brilliant marble jar analogy: every snack, lift, lost shoe, school form, sibling squabble and “Muuuuum!” costs us a marble, while those little moments of being seen, thanked, appreciated or helped can put a marble back in the jar. Which begs the question… how do we make sure we actually have enough marbles to give away?! Sarah shares why multitasking has never been her superpower, and we chat about the value of focusing on one thing at a time instead of trying to juggle ALL THE THINGS, ALL THE TIME. We’re losing our marbles, finding a few again and attempting to keep the 900 tabs open without completely crashing the system!! Why Didn’t Anyone Tell Us This?! Perimenopause with Dr. Sarah Oreck

This week we’re joined by Dr. Sarah Oreck, a Columbia University-trained reproductive psychiatrist and co-founder of Mavida Health, to unpack one of the most misunderstood stages of a woman’s life: perimenopause When does it actually start? Can you be postpartum and in perimenopause at the same time? (Yep.) Why does it feel like nobody prepared us for this?! We’re talking brain fog, anxiety, rage, sleep, heart palpitations, yes… even itchy ears, why estrogen impacts almost every system in the body, and how perimenopause can last 7 to 10 years. Dr. Oreck also walks us through the full spectrum of treatment options, from lifestyle changes and therapy to hormone treatment, busts a few myths, and answers the questions so many women are too afraid, too busy, or too confused to ask. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking, “What on earth is happening to me?” this episode is for you… and every woman you know. Un-Botoxed, TikTok & Screen Time!

This week on The Mother Daze, it’s smart phone fears, dumb phone cheers… ? but when do we finally bite the bullet? We dive into screen time, devices, kids growing older, the fear surrounding social media, and raising tweens in an increasingly online world. Is an Apple Watch the perfect first step? Or do you hold off altogether? We pick each other’s brains on our plans, fears, all the research we’ve done, and where we’ve landed so far. We also get into fits of giggles over inappropriate humour (Summer Heights High… IYKYK), frolic through Little House on the Prairie, and chat about Kate Box’s brilliantly funny Aussie comedy, Deadloch. Sarah’s TikTok emergence also brings out that one A-HOLIO who reckons she should “Botox up.” Well, looky here, you sad anti-ager… these mamas to NINE have earned every one of these laugh lines, crow’s feet, forehead creases, smile wrinkles, and motherhood badges of honour. They’re proof of a life well lived, deeply loved, and very well laughed AND we won’t be injecting them away.  So, as Mr G would say… “SHOVE IT UP YOUR ASS, MARGARET.” (For the purposes of this episode, “Margaret” is our affectionate name for anyone policing women’s faces. ) Resource Links: Deadloch (2023) Summer Heights High (2007) Little House On The Prairie (2026) Follow Sarah on TikTok: @swrightolsen   Follow Sarah Wright Olsen: IG: @swrightolsen Follow Teresa Palmer: IG: @teresapalmer  FB: https://www.facebook.com/teresamarypalmer/ DISCOUNT CODES: • Go to www.baeo.com and get 20% when using the code MOTHERDAZE20 • Go to www.lovewell.earth and get 20% when using the code MOTHERDAZE20 More about the show! • Watch this episode on YouTube here • Co-founders of @yourzenmama yourzenmama.com • Read and buy our book! Pivots, Perimenopause & Plot Twists!

This week on The Mother Daze, Sarah and Teresa are talking all about change… because wow, life has been LIFE-ing lately. The Palmer household has had a few unexpected plot twists, and Teresa shares the silver linings that have come with them. She celebrates the beautiful togetherness Vancouver brought their family, chats about their time there wrapping up sooner than expected, and all the excitement of their giddy return to Byron for the time being. They also chat solo parenting, finding the world’s greatest au pair (seriously… where has she been all their lives?!) and all the little moments that made this chapter so memorable. Then we unpack the wild world of perimenopause. Is it postpartum? Is it perimenopause? Is it both?! We chat symptoms, hormones, brain fog, mood swings, and why this season of life can feel like one giant guessing game. It’s time we started talking about it more.
