I appreciate your insight. I recently listened to your show about alcohol use and I wonder if you might have glossed over the stumbling block from Romans 14 a bit too quickly. The question for me is, how can I be certain that the person who sees me have a drink doesn’t struggle with alcohol. Alcohol troubles are something most people would rather hide when with a casual acquaintance. If it is such a tremendously important thing (to avoid being a stumbling block) why would I risk it, even a little? I also know two sincere christian families where one of the children has now become destroyed as a young adult by alcohol and I wonder, if they had received consistent instruction, led by their parents example, of completely avoiding alcohol, whether that wouldn’t have improved their chances. As a father of 4, my wife and I are committed to setting this example for our kids, not to be critical or judge others, but just in our own personal lives. I believe this is the best thing for me to do as a loving dad who wants the best for my kids and also for my witness to those around me.

Kirk, as a young person I watched you on Growing Pains and then more recently found your podcast. I shared it with my husband and we listen regularly. I appreciate the dynamic between you and your son James. I am especially grateful for the way you both model respectful and honest communication regarding difficult topics without wavering. I love your views on alcohol. Especially on not drinking because it can cause another to stumble. It is rare to hear that view. Thank you for sharing this great truth.

We all know ticks and tick born illness are real. Please take my warning that Lyme disease is awful and it has not gone away with treatment but did get somewhat better. Lyme disease was horrible and it was so hard watching my child be debilitated from this disease. Just FYI Alfa Gal is not the worst thing that ticks carry.
