    Accountability Without Opportunity Changes Nothing

    What happens when punishment ends…but the punishment never really ends? Mercedes Vasquez Simmons returns to Billified for a conversation that refuses to fit neatly into a political box. Bill and Mercedes dig into parole, rehabilitation, accountability and the power of having a community willing to show up for someone, while still expecting them to own their mistakes.     Bill, Kevin and Mark kick this one off arguing Allen, Brady, Manning, championships and Buffalo’s borderline love affair with its quarterback. But then Billified takes a hard left into something much more real: How well do we actually know when somebody isn’t okay? A conversation about suicide and the masks people wear turns deeply personal as the guys talk about depression, money, aging, losing your identity, Bill’s life after radio—and why sometimes just getting somebody out of the damn house matters more than you realize. Then it’s back into the chaos: the guys take on the absolute insanity of youth sports, parents screaming at kids, coaches and refs, and the delusion that every 15-year-old is one scout away from going pro. Spoiler: your kid may not be headed to the NHL. He may be one missing assignment away from losing his Xbox. Kevin closes things out with an old-school Name That Tune battle before Mark drops a personal story that brings the entire conversation full circle. It’s funny. It’s uncomfortable.
