155 | Why the Garage or Junk Room Stays Cluttered for Years

If you’ve ever wondered how to declutter a garage, organize a junk room, or start decluttering when you feel overwhelmed, you’re not alone. These are some of the spaces in our homes that quietly collect things for years. In this episode, I’m answering three honest questions from our community about garage clutter, “just in case” items, and the decision paralysis that keeps rooms stuck for years. We talk about why large decluttering projects feel overwhelming, how decision fatigue and scarcity thinking can keep us holding onto things longer than we need to, and why certain spaces feel so hard to face once they’ve been avoided for a long time. But we also look at this through a faith lens. Sometimes what keeps us stuck isn’t just the stuff—it’s fear of the future, uncertainty about letting go, or feeling overwhelmed by the weight of unfinished decisions. Scripture reminds us that God is not the author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33) and that faithfulness often begins in small things. If you’ve been wanting to declutter your garage, organize a junk room, or tackle the catch-all room in your home, this conversation will help you understand what’s really happening underneath the clutter—and why starting small matters more than waiting for the perfect moment. Next week on the podcast, I’m also revisiting the five simple resets from Real Life Decluttering Week, walking through them one day at a time so you can follow along and begin clearing the spaces in your home that have been sitting the longest. Praying over your next steps sister. 🎙️ More from Organized On Purpose Listen to more episodes and get practical encouragement for organizing your home and life—one step at a time.   📬 Join my weekly newsletter for encouragement, organizing insights, and practical next steps: 👉https://kristina-borseti-llc.kit.com/ac428baac7   💬 Pair the Podcast with the Community; breaking down the podcast into visual content and practical steps: 👉www.facebook.com/groups/organizedonpurpose/

154 | How Scarcity Mindset Derails Decluttering—and How God Helps Us Let Go

Scarcity mindset doesn’t always look like clutter piling up on the counter. Sometimes it shows up in the old jeans we keep “just in case,” the items we paid good money for but no longer use, or the way we white-knuckle our finances and schedules out of fear of not having enough. In this episode, I unpack what scarcity mindset really is, why it forms, and how it quietly influences our decisions around our homes, and our time. We’ll talk about the “logical” gremlin thoughts that keep us stuck, the nervous system’s role in holding on, and how faith and fear often get tangled together without us realizing it. Through Scripture and practical reflection, I’ll help you begin to discern what’s rooted in wisdom versus what’s rooted in fear — and how letting go can be a step of trust, not loss. If you’ve ever felt uneasy releasing things, control, or old patterns, I am praying this conversation will meet you right where you are.

150 | At the Breaking Point with Clutter? A Gentler Way to Begin

Most of us don’t decide to declutter because we feel inspired or motivated. We decide because something finally breaks. If clutter has reached a breaking point in your home—or in your heart—I want you to hear this clearly: you haven’t failed. God is meeting you here. In this episode, I’m sharing gentle, experience-based suggestions for beginning the decluttering process in a calmer, more faithful way. These are not steps or rules. They are universal principles I’ve seen support real people in real homes—especially midlife moms and empty nesters who are tired of pushing and ready to steward their homes with God instead of striving on their own. We talk about why the breaking point is often awareness, not weakness—and how God uses these moments to invite us into clarity, obedience, and rest. In this episode, you’ll hear about: Why reaching a breaking point doesn’t disqualify you—it often means God is getting your attention How anchoring your decisions in God’s Word (not your emotions) brings steadiness and peace The hidden cost of urgency, decision fatigue, and trying to do this in your own strength When God may be inviting you to pause instead of push forward How obedience, simplicity, and structure can quietly support faithfulness in daily life Decluttering is not just about removing things. It’s about releasing control, renewing your mind, and making room for what God is doing in this season. Praying over your next steps! 🔗 SUPPORTING EPISODES Ep. 130 Do I Declutter or Organize First?
