How to Navigate Difficult Relationships Without Losing Yourself | Special Guest Amy Hancock

168 | How to Navigate Difficult Relationships Without Losing Yourself | Special Guest Amy Hancock | Salarah Kacey Starre What if the people who trigger you the most are actually showing you where you’re not yet free? In this episode, I’m joined by my beautiful friend Amy from Rewilded Retreats for a deep conversation about difficult relationships, emotional triggers and the idea of our “soul curriculum” the people and experiences that challenge us, activate old wounds and ultimately invite us to grow. We explore what happens within the nervous system when we’re triggered, why we can become reactive when we feel rejected, abandoned, misunderstood or invalidated, and how our unconscious patterns can leave us looking outside ourselves for reassurance, worth and emotional safety. We also talk about the power of learning to pause, feel what is underneath the reaction and ask a very different question: What is this situation showing me about myself? Because healing isn’t about never being triggered again. It’s about recognising our patterns sooner, taking responsibility for our own emotional world and learning to stay anchored within ourselves, even when somebody else doesn’t understand, validate or behave the way we want them to. A powerful conversation about relationships, emotional healing, self-worth, nervous system regulation, manifestation, spirituality, self-awareness and breaking unconscious patterns. Part Two: 3 Ways to Stop Letting Other People Affect How You Feel About Yourself

167 | Part Two: 3 Ways to Stop Letting Other People Affect How You Feel About Yourself | Salarah Kacey Starre How do you stay strong in yourself when somebody disagrees with you, questions your choices, misunderstands you or refuses to give you the validation you want? In Part One, we explored some of the hidden reasons other people can have such a powerful effect on how we feel about ourselves. In Part Two, we go deeper. I’m sharing 3 more powerful ways to stop allowing other people’s opinions, reactions and behaviour to determine your self-worth, and how to begin building the kind of self-trust that allows you to remain connected to yourself even when somebody else sees things differently. We explore the difference between being competent and actually trusting yourself, why needing somebody else to apologise, understand or validate your experience can unknowingly give your power away, and what happens when you dismiss your own feelings because you’re frightened of what honouring them might require you to do. Because sometimes the hardest part isn’t knowing how you feel. It’s having the courage to honour it. In this episode, we explore: Why competence and self-trust are not the same thing How other people’s opinions can send us into self-doubt, even when we know what we’re doing Learning to trust your own decisions when other people disagree Why seeking reassurance and approval can move you further away from yourself What happens when your peace depends upon somebody else apologising, understanding or validating you How to stop making somebody else responsible for making you feel okay again Why being misunderstood doesn’t have to mean there is something wrong with you How self-validation helps you take your power back Why we sometimes dismiss our own feelings to avoid difficult conversations, boundaries or change The connection between people-pleasing, self-abandonment and low self-worth Learning to honour your feelings without needing somebody else to agree with them How speaking up for yourself begins to rebuild self-trust, confidence and emotional safety This isn’t about becoming unaffected, shutting people out or refusing to listen to feedback. It’s about developing a strong enough relationship with yourself that you can hear somebody else’s perspective without automatically abandoning your own. It’s about being able to say, “I can listen to you, consider what you’re saying and still trust myself.” Perhaps most importantly, it’s about recognising that your healing cannot be dependent upon somebody else’s awakening. They may never apologise. They may never understand your perspective. They may never validate what happened in the way you hoped they would. But your peace doesn’t have to remain in their hands. This work is ultimately about coming home to yourself, learning to trust yourself, validate your own experience, honour your feelings and build the strong internal foundations upon which confidence, self-worth and a beautiful life can grow. 📖 My book – The Only Way Out Is In: Healing the Hidden Patterns Running Your Life If you want to go deeper into understanding the unconscious patterns, beliefs and protective strategies shaping your life and relationships, you can find my book The Only Way Out Is In on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1917623321 💫 Work with me If you feel ready to explore your own hidden patterns more deeply and would like support with self-worth, relationships, emotional triggers, boundaries, people-pleasing or the repetitive cycles playing out in your life, you can find out more about my work at: www.salarahstarre.com 📱 Connect with me on Instagram I’m most active on Instagram, where I share more on mindset, manifestation, healing, self-worth and the hidden patterns shaping our lives: @SalarahKStarre ⭐ Enjoyed this episode? Part One - 3 Ways to Stop Letting Other People Affect How You Feel About Yourself

166 | Part One - 3 Ways to Stop Letting Other People Affect How You Feel About Yourself | Salarah Kacey Starre How much of your emotional wellbeing is still being influenced by what other people think, say or do? A comment. A criticism. Someone questioning your choices. Being left out. A message that goes unanswered. Feeling judged, scrutinised or unappreciated. Sometimes it takes very little for us to suddenly find ourselves overthinking, questioning ourselves, replaying conversations or wondering whether we’ve done something wrong. In this episode, I’m sharing 3 powerful ways to stop giving other people so much power over how you feel about yourself, and to begin strengthening your self-worth from within. We explore why certain people are able to trigger us so deeply, how our external relationships can mirror the relationship we have with ourselves, and the unconscious habit of criticising or rejecting ourselves before anybody else gets the chance. This isn’t about pretending other people’s behaviour doesn’t matter, suppressing your feelings or using personal development to convince yourself that you shouldn’t be affected. It’s about understanding why something affects you in the way that it does, what your triggers may be revealing about your deeper beliefs and wounds, and how you can begin responding differently rather than remaining trapped in the same emotional patterns. In this episode, we explore: ✨ What your triggers can reveal about your self-worth and deeper beliefs ✨ Why rejection, criticism and feeling scrutinised can affect some of us so deeply ✨ How the outside world can mirror the relationship you have with yourself ✨ How protective patterns can actually keep low self-esteem alive ✨ Creating a gap between being triggered and automatically reacting ✨ How to begin becoming the source of your own validation This is Part One of this conversation. There is much more to explore, so I’ll be continuing with the remaining ways we can stop allowing other people’s opinions and behaviour to determine how we feel about ourselves in the next episode. If you recognise yourself in this episode, remember that awareness is where change begins. The more we understand our patterns, triggers and protective strategies, the more choice we have about whether we continue feeding them or begin creating something different. 📖 My book – The Only Way Out Is In: Healing the Hidden Patterns Running Your Life If you want to go deeper into understanding the unconscious patterns, beliefs, projections and protective strategies shaping your life, you can find my book The Only Way Out Is In on Amazon - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1917623321 💫 Work with me If you feel ready to explore your own patterns more deeply and would like support with your self-worth, relationships, emotional triggers or the repetitive cycles playing out in your life, you can get in touch with me to explore working together. ⭐ Enjoyed this episode? Why We Stay Stuck in Situations We Know Aren’t Good for Us

165 | Why We Stay Stuck in Situations We Know Aren’t Good for Us | Salarah Kacey Starre What if the thing keeping you stuck isn’t the situation itself, but something happening underneath it that you haven’t yet been able to see? In this second instalment of my real client wisdom series, I’m sharing more of the powerful insights, patterns and breakthroughs that have emerged through my client sessions and my own personal journey. These are the conversations that can completely change the way you see something you’ve been struggling with. In this episode, we explore secondary gains, the hidden ways a difficult situation, behaviour or even physical challenge can sometimes serve or protect us without us consciously realising it. I share my own experience of being confronted with this question following my rheumatoid arthritis diagnosis, alongside examples from my client work that show just how intelligent our nervous system adaptations can be. We also look at the other side of hope. Hope can be beautiful, but sometimes continuing to hope that somebody or something will change can protect us from having to grieve what is actually happening right now. I explore what it really means to take your power back within relationships, why doing so doesn’t necessarily mean walking away, and how changing your own participation in an unhealthy dynamic can begin to change the entire pattern. Finally, we talk about the difference between compassion and carrying somebody. Understanding someone’s pain does not mean becoming responsible for their emotions, healing, choices or behaviour. Sometimes what looks like compassion can actually become rescuing – leaving us exhausted, resentful and unintentionally preventing another person from discovering their own power. In this episode, we explore: ✨ Secondary gains and the hidden benefits of staying stuck ✨ How the nervous system creates adaptations to protect us ✨ The questions that can reveal what a challenge may be helping you avoid ✨ Familiar pain and why it can feel safer than uncertainty ✨ How changing yourself changes relationship dynamics ✨ The difference between compassion, support and rescuing ✨ How carrying other people can create resentment and disempowerment ✨ Why learning to tolerate discomfort can be an important part of healing These aren’t theories taken from a textbook. They are real patterns I’ve witnessed in my own life and in the lives of the people I work with. My hope is that somewhere within these conversations, you hear the one thing that helps you see your own situation through a completely different lens. And sometimes, that one shift in awareness is where everything begins to change. If something in this episode brings up a question for you, or you’d like me to explore something you’re currently experiencing in a future episode, please reach out. I’d also love to hear from anyone interested in having a live coaching conversation on the podcast. The Hidden Ways You’re Giving Your Power Away (and how to claim it back!)

164 | The Hidden Ways You’re Giving Your Power Away (and how to claim it back!) | Salarah Kacey Starre What if the patterns that keep showing up in your life aren’t happening outside of you, but are revealing something within you that is finally ready to be seen? In this episode, I’m sharing some of the most powerful wisdom that has emerged through my client sessions over the last few months. These are real themes from real people navigating relationships, resentment, guilt, boundaries, self-abandonment and the uncomfortable process of learning to honour themselves differently. We explore why repeated experiences can actually be an invitation to look beneath the surface at the unconscious patterns influencing the way you respond to life, and why recognising your part in a pattern isn’t about blaming yourself. It’s about discovering the part you finally have the power to change. I talk about the subtle ways we abandon, betray and reject ourselves, saying yes when we mean no, putting somebody else’s feelings before our own, over-explaining, making excuses for another person’s behaviour, or communicating what we need and then backing away the moment somebody becomes uncomfortable. We also explore the important difference between healthy and unhealthy guilt, why resentment can sometimes be showing us where we have repeatedly overridden ourselves, and why a boundary without follow-through is ultimately just a request. Perhaps most importantly, we look at what it means to become comfortable with being uncomfortable. Because speaking your truth, honouring your needs and changing long-standing patterns won’t always feel comfortable, particularly when the people around you are accustomed to an older version of you. I also answer a listener question from Ingrid in Norway, who asks why she keeps abandoning what she needs even when she knows exactly what she wants. This episode is an invitation to move away from asking, “Why does this keep happening to me?” and towards a far more empowering question: What is this experience revealing about me, my patterns, and what I am now ready to change? Because responsibility isn’t blame. It’s recognising that while you cannot control another person’s behaviour or response, you can become conscious of your own, and that is where your power begins. In this episode, we explore: • Why repeated patterns can be a sign that something unconscious is ready to become conscious • The connection between self-abandonment and resentment • How self-betrayal can disguise itself as kindness, understanding or people-pleasing • Healthy guilt versus unhealthy guilt • Why somebody else’s disappointment doesn’t automatically mean you’ve done something wrong • Why boundaries need consistency and follow-through • Why another person’s reaction to your truth is not your responsibility • Why learning to tolerate discomfort is essential when breaking old patterns If this episode brings something into your awareness and you’d like support understanding the hidden patterns operating beneath the surface of your own life, I work one-to-one with clients around the world. If you haven’t yet read my book, The Only Way Out Is In: Healing the Hidden Patterns Running Your Life, it takes these conversations even deeper, helping you explore the unconscious beliefs, patterns and operating systems influencing the reality you experience. Healing Your Nervous System: Nervous System Regulation & Self-Compassion - With Special guest Lucy Fry

163 | Healing Your Nervous System: Nervous System Regulation & Self-Compassion - With Special guest Lucy Fry | Salarah Kacey Starre In this episode of The Salarah K Starre Podcast, I’m joined by Lucy Fry, an integrative transpersonal psychotherapist, published author and couples counsellor, for a very real and down-to-earth conversation about the nervous system, healing and what it actually means to begin creating safety within ourselves. Lucy and I both came to nervous system work through our own lived experiences, and throughout this conversation we explore what dysregulation can look and feel like in everyday life, particularly when stress, hypervigilance, anxiety or constantly being “on” have become so familiar that we no longer recognise them as anything unusual. We talk about why the body can continue responding to situations through the lens of old experiences even when our conscious mind knows we are safe, and how learning to listen to those responses with curiosity and compassion can completely change our relationship with ourselves. We also explore self-compassion, shame, the inner child, co-regulation, repetitive patterns and the importance of allowing ourselves to be seen and heard rather than continually trying to fix, suppress or talk ourselves out of what we feel. One of my favourite parts of this conversation is our discussion around the seemingly insignificant micro-moments of everyday life. Rushing our lunch, filling every spare moment, taking our phones everywhere, moving from one task immediately into another or struggling to allow ourselves genuine rest can all give us clues about what is happening within our nervous system. Sometimes creating greater regulation isn’t about adding another healing practice to our list. It’s about creating more spaciousness, listening to the body and beginning to respond differently in those ordinary moments that make up our lives. We also speak about the reality that healing takes time. There isn’t necessarily one retreat, therapy session, spiritual practice or breakthrough that suddenly changes everything. Often transformation is created through years of small choices, greater awareness and repeatedly choosing to meet ourselves differently. This is a beautiful conversation about nervous system regulation, emotional healing, self-compassion, childhood patterns and learning to become a safer place for ourselves. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it. 10 Ways You May Be Unknowingly Blocking What You Want

162 | 10 Ways You May Be Unknowingly Blocking What You Want | Salarah Kacey Starre What if the reason you’re not getting what you want isn’t because you’re doing manifestation wrong, you’re not thinking positively enough or your vibration isn’t high enough? In this episode, I’m exploring ten ways we can unknowingly get in the way of the very things we say we want, often through patterns we don’t even realise we’re repeating. We’ll look at what happens when you spend more time rehearsing the reality you don’t want than the one you do, why challenges don’t necessarily mean you’re going backwards, how we outsource feelings such as happiness, security, worth and enoughness to the things we’re trying to manifest, and why becoming obsessed with how something is going to happen can keep us stuck in control rather than allowing life to meet us somewhere we couldn’t have planned. I also explore the deeper side of manifestation: the version of you who would actually need to exist to hold what you’re asking for, the ways we hand responsibility for our internal world to other people, why uncomfortable emotions aren’t something to fear, and how hidden patterns can have us recreating the same emotional experiences with completely different people and circumstances. Because manifestation isn’t just about attraction. It’s about awareness, responsibility, embodiment and participation. In this episode, we explore: • Why you may be unconsciously rehearsing what you don’t want • The difference between desire and emotional dependency • Why a new challenge can actually be evidence of growth • What happens when you outsource your happiness, worth or security • The hidden cost of trying to control how everything happens • Why your current identity may not match the reality you’re asking for • How people-pleasing, over-giving and self-abandonment affect what you create • Why difficult emotions aren’t necessarily blocking your manifestation • How subconscious patterns keep recreating familiar experiences • The difference between surrender and passivity • How to create more without postponing your enjoyment of the life you already have If you recognise yourself in some of these patterns and want to understand more about what may be sitting underneath them, my book The Only Way Out Is In: Healing the Hidden Patterns Running Your Life takes this work much deeper. It will help you begin recognising the beliefs, patterns and unconscious programmes shaping the way you think, feel, behave and experience your life, and give you practical ways to start changing them. You can find The Only Way Out Is In on Amazon in Kindle and paperback, with the audiobook coming soon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1917623321 If this episode brings something up for you, I’d love to hear what you recognised. 161 | The Hidden Patterns Running Your Life (And How to Finally Break Free) | Salarah Kacey Starre Have you ever wondered why you keep finding yourself in the same situations, having the same arguments, attracting the same experiences or reacting in ways you thought you'd already healed? Beneath many of our emotional reactions are hidden survival patterns that were once designed to protect us. The challenge is that what once kept us safe can eventually become the very thing that keeps us stuck.
