    Road Blocks are not Road Stops

    I had a God idea for a creative project and ran into problem after problem. Typos, technical issues, music licensing blocks, clips that wouldn't cooperate. My first thought wasn't that I was on the right track. It was that maybe I heard God wrong. But then I remembered something: resistance shows up whenever you move toward a higher version of yourself. And the more a calling matters to your soul's growth, the more resistance you will feel pursuing it. In This Episode: Resistance is spiritual warfare, not a sign that you took a wrong turn, and it shows up looking like fear, procrastination, self-doubt, rationalizing, sickness, or busyness to distract you from what matters Look at Nehemiah rebuilding the wall: enemies mocked him, plotted against him, made him build with one hand on the work and one hand ready for battle, but he stayed focused anyway You don't have to wait for all the resistance to disappear before you keep going.     Start where you are: Two questions that can bring blessings to others

    This past week our youth group went out on a mission night with just one assignment: ask the Holy Spirit to show you who Jesus would want you to see. One hour. Four groups of kids. A lot of different lives touched. And I realized something that I want to share with you: it doesn't take a mission trip or a big plan. It just takes a willingness to ask God who He wants you to see today, and then actually move toward that person. In This Episode: The difference between noticing a need that crosses your path and going out on purpose to be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit prompts you to do with whoever He puts in front of you Two simple questions you can ask anyone, anywhere: "Is there anything I can pray for you?" and "How can I help you?"     In a Sunday school class icebreaker, almost everyone said they would rather do absolutely everything themselves before ever asking another person for help. I'm a one, which means I freely ask. For a long time, that felt like I was doing something wrong. But reading Ruth Chapter 3 taught me something different: asking for help is not weakness or selfishness. It's wisdom. And it opens doors you can't open on your own.     I've never had a five-year plan. In nearly 20 years of running this business, I've just been trying to figure out what I need to do today. For a long time, I thought that meant I was doing something wrong. But then I read Ruth chapter 2 and realized something: doing the thing in front of you with everything you've got on the day God puts it in front of you is not a small thing. It's actually the whole thing.     Why we push people away when we need them most

    Have you ever said you're fine when you absolutely weren't? Or watched someone you love disappear into their grief and push you away, even though that's when they need you most? There's something deeply human about withdrawing when we're hurting the most. But research shows us that the very moment we need connection is often when it feels most impossible to receive it. Today we're talking about what's actually happening inside us when we isolate, why the people we push hardest are often the ones we trust most, and what it really means to show up for someone in the dark. In This Episode: Why isolation isn't relief, it's a self-reinforcing loop that amplifies distress by making our brain interpret the world as more threatening the more alone we are The burden belief: that deep, unconscious conviction that we're too much and our pain is an inconvenience, so we push people away before they get the chance to leave How Scripture doesn't shame us for withdrawing (Naomi, Elijah, Psalm 88), but shows us that God meets us there and sends us people who refuse to be pushed away If you're isolating: find just one person and let them sit with you in it without needing to fix it.
