The Pick Me Agenda | SZN 4 Episode 17

This week on The Black Gay Agenda, Micah B, Dupree and AP are getting into pick-me culture in the Black gay community and the ways we sometimes change ourselves to be accepted, desired or chosen. What does being a “pick me” actually look like for Black gay men? The fellas unpack gay men who distance themselves from other gay men, the pressure to perform masculinity, internalized homophobia, masc-for-masc culture, femininity, dating and desirability, and the idea that staying home, having less sex or avoiding queer spaces somehow makes someone more relationship-worthy. Then the conversation gets personal: Have you ever wanted somebody to pick you so badly that you stopped picking yourself? Dupree opens up about toning down his femininity, AP reflects on changing parts of himself while dating, and Micah shares how seeking his father’s approval affected the way he lived his life and approached relationships. Plus, AP drops a VERY interesting take about gay men who love sports that the Pushers are definitely going to have something to say about. Ultimately, The Pick Me Agenda is about what happens when you stop performing for everybody else, embrace who you actually are and finally choose yourself. This Week: Micah B, Dupree & AP

    The Community Check-In Agenda | SZN 4 Episode 13

This week, Micah B, Dupree, and Justin take a step back after another Pride season to ask one important question: What happens after Pride? The conversation begins with a Letter From the Pushers that revisits the ongoing debate around Pride, sexuality, and respectability politics. The hosts reflect on the backlash from a previous conversation and explore why Pride can celebrate sexual freedom while remaining rooted in protest, visibility, advocacy, and community care. From there, the crew checks in on the state of the Black LGBTQ+ community. They discuss supporting Black queer artists beyond Pride Month, the responsibility of creators and organizations, the impact of reality television and media exploitation, and why civic engagement, voting, and year-round community building matter just as much as showing up to Pride. The episode also celebrates Black queer joy, entrepreneurship, local organizers, and the people creating meaningful spaces for our community every day. Honest, reflective, and rooted in love, this conversation is a reminder that Pride doesn’t end on June 30. The work, the joy, and the community continue all year long. ⸻ Executive Producer Micah Butler Producer Justin B. The Hot Seat Agenda | SZN 4 Episode 12

This week, Justin B. Smith, AP, and Dupree are in the hot seat, and nothing is off limits. Presented by Jack’d, the crew kicks off Pride season with a conversation about dating apps, Pride weekends, friendship, relationships, self-sabotage, attraction, masculinity, and the lessons they’ve learned while navigating life as Black queer men. From building the perfect Black Pride starter pack to discussing what catches their attention on dating apps, the conversation quickly turns into something deeper. The hosts open up about friendship evaluations, showing up for the people you love, the realities of dating, and the ways ego, fear, and past experiences can get in the way of meaningful connections. They also tackle bigger conversations around the Black gay community, respectability politics, anti-femininity, dating preferences, activism, and the responsibility we have to show up for one another. Funny, vulnerable, messy, and surprisingly heartfelt, this episode reminds us that sometimes the hottest conversations happen when you’re willing to be honest. Special thanks to our sponsor, Jack’d. The Wildcard Agenda Pt. 3 | SZN 4 Episode 10

This week, Micah B, AP, and Dupree close out the midseason with another Wildcard episode, where every topic is on the table and the conversation can go literally anywhere. The episode opens with conversations around internet outrage, fan loyalty, and whether audiences actually allow artists to grow. From Chris Brown and Tyler Perry to Teyana Taylor and award season discourse, the crew gets into why certain celebrities receive endless criticism while others are protected no matter what. From there, the conversation gets even messier. The crew debates petty behavior versus justified reactions, dating age gaps, sugar daddy stories, financial struggles as creatives, and the emotional reality of trying to grow while still carrying other people with you. They also get into the pressure Black creatives face online, why Black audiences sometimes struggle to give grace to Black artists, and the difference between accountability and performative hate. Funny, shady, reflective, chaotic, and unexpectedly deep, this is The Black Gay Agenda exactly the way the Pushers love it. ⸻ Executive Producer Micah Butler Producer Justin B.
