Parenting Hot Takes + Having Hobbies as a Mom

Parenting hot takes + having hobbies as a mom? Yep, we’re doing both. In this episode, I’m answering your questions about unpopular parenting beliefs, including why I think learning the easy way is still learning, why rehearsals, jingles, play, and stories can be some of the best tools in your parenting toolbox, and why there’s probably no single “right” parenting style for every mom and every kid. We’ll also talk about one of the parenting reminders I’m constantly coming back to: you are accountable for you. Even when your kids are melting down, talking back, or making choices you don’t love, you’re still responsible for how you respond. Then we’re switching gears and talking about something that deserves way more attention in motherhood: having hobbies. How do you find something fun when you barely have any free time? How do you actually make yourself show up? And why does external accountability make such a huge difference? From acting and improv classes to pottery, crafts, pickleball, and everything in between, we’re taking the pressure off finding your “one true passion” and talking about a much more realistic way to bring fun back into your life. Basically: parenting doesn’t have to be harder than it needs to be—and neither does being a mom. Your Phone Might Be Affecting More Than Your Screen Time with Ben Krechevsky

What if your relationship with your phone isn’t just about screen time? In this episode, Ashleigh sits down with Ben Krechevsky of Purpose Over Pixels to unpack the deeper ways our phones can shape our identity, self-trust, self-respect, relationships, and ability to be present for the lives we actually want to live. They talk about why repeatedly telling yourself “I’m going to get off my phone” and then not following through can quietly reinforce the belief that you don’t keep your word to yourself—and how that can spill into other areas of your life. They also get into the pressure to always be reachable, why willpower alone isn’t enough, what our phones might actually be helping us escape, and why moms in particular can find themselves reaching for their phones when they’re lonely, overwhelmed, bored, exhausted, or simply overstimulated. And in one of my favorite moments, Ben leads Ashleigh through a simple breathing exercise that makes her realize just how rarely she actually slows down. This conversation is about so much more than putting your phone down.
