    Jackalope Tales – I Saw Her Standing There… Again

    Jackalope Tales kicks off its Stalker Series, because apparently Beatlemania wasn’t creepy enough the first time around. Lisa dives into the strange tale of Yoko Ono’s relentless pursuit of Paul McCartney—showing up, making requests, and eventually finding herself with a completely different Beatle. When one door closes, apparently you just keep knocking until John Lennon answers. Then Charles takes things somewhere much darker with the terrifying night George Harrison was attacked inside his own home by an intruder who believed the former Beatle was somehow connected to The Phantom Menace. Yes, George survived the ’60s, the Maharishi, and the breakup of the Beatles…only to nearly be taken out by a guy with some extremely complicated feelings about Star Wars.     Jackalope Tales – HIT THE ROAD JACK!

    Opening for a major artist is supposed to be your big break. Unless, of course, the headliner decides your big break should involve packing your crap and getting off the tour bus. This week on Jackalope Tales, Charles and Lisa dig into the wonderfully dysfunctional world of opening acts who got FIRED. Charles tells the story of Eric Church opening for Rascal Flatts — and apparently committing the unforgivable crime of putting on a show that was a little too Eric Church. Rules were broken. Tempers flared. Church got the boot. Somewhere, a tour manager developed acid reflux. Lisa brings us the strange tale of Kristen Young and Morrissey, where things allegedly went south after Morrissey became convinced Kristen had brought a cold onto the tour. Because when you’re Morrissey, even a respiratory virus needs a villain. One minute you’re living your dream, opening for your musical heroes. The next you’re standing behind an arena with your luggage while the tour bus disappears over the horizon and Morrissey is inside disinfecting a doorknob.     Jackalope Tales – Buc Around & Find Out

    What happens when live music invades the sacred fluorescent kingdom of Buc-ee’s? Apparently, nothing good. This week on Jackalope Tales, Charles and Lisa hit the highway for an episode fueled by brisket, Beaver Nuggets, questionable decisions, and musicians who dared to bring live music dangerously close to America’s cleanest bathrooms. Charles tells the story of Keith Urban, who performed at a Buc-ee’s and turned out to be the perfect honorary employee—friendly, professional, hardworking, and presumably capable of pointing you toward Pump #147 without breaking eye contact. Keith wasn’t the problem. His fans were. What seemed like a fun little concert quickly demonstrated why combining a superstar, a gas station, and several thousand excited humans might be a worse idea than gas-station sushi in August. Lisa brings the tale of an Austin band that was told they couldn’t perform at Buc-ee’s. So they respected that decision like mature adults…by moving next door, setting up their gear, and playing anyway. Because nothing says Texas diplomacy quite like, “Fine. We’ll be six feet off your property line.” It’s music. It’s mayhem. It’s passive-aggressive busking with access to 120 gas pumps.     This week, Charles and Lisa dig into the unholy little mess that erupted when Charley Crockett’s camp dropped satanic doo-wop duo Twin Temple from a run of shows—and somehow turned an opening-act change into a musical culture-war casserole.     Jackalope Tales – FULL METAL JACKALOPE

    Somehow, Jackalope Tales blew up in Vietnam—which either means we’ve finally gone international or someone in Hanoi left Spotify running overnight. So naturally, Charles and Lisa packed their bags and headed to Vietnam to meet the people responsible for this terrible lapse in judgment. In “Full Metal Jackalope,” we recount our journey into the heart of our newest fanbase: a plane trip long enough to make us question the invention of aviation ✈️, food that occasionally required us to ask “Which part of the animal is this?” 🍜, and encounters with some seriously cool Vietnamese punk bands who proved that distortion, sweat, and questionable life choices require no translation. 🤘🇻🇳 We crossed the International Date Line, lost track of what day it was, ate things that may have looked back at us, and discovered that apparently Jackalope Tales has fans 8,000 miles away.
