The Lady Killers: A Feminine Rage Podcast

I found the Lady Killers through the Losers’ Club pod, of which I have been an enthusiastic member for several years now. Ever since my first Lady K episode (Fargo), I was instantly hooked! Jen, Sammie, Mae & Rocco have great banter and always bring new, refreshing perspectives to the films I’ve always loved. It’s been such a blast revisiting these movies for the first time as an adult woman and I truly find myself gaining copious amounts of insight from this group on various topics and themes addressed throughout the films. I I’m so excited to watch new (to me) movies so I can listen to the episodes! Thank you for the work you put into the pod for us listeners, sincerely. You ‘goyles are so awesome!!!

Apple appears to have deleted my previous review…but that’s okay, the Lady Killers have evolved. I think the term “Lady Killers” is a bit of an oversimplification for what this podcast offers. Sure it centers on a cinematic female-identifying killer every week, but the typically two-hour show offers a lot more nuance for those who care to listen and aren’t afraid to confront some of the darker veins running through our society. The three hosts and occasional guest star leverage their seemingly unlimited knowledge of cinema to tackle these discussions with their unique humor and wisdom, and also aren’t afraid to insert heart-felt personal experiences to help illustrate a point. Rachel Reeves is the perfect replacement for the previous two hosts (beloved and missed as they are), and her cool, laid back demeanor blends perfectly with the two veteran hosts, Jenn Adams and Sammie Roffman. Their charisma and genuine camaraderie are evident as discussions flow naturally and make listeners feel like they are part of the conversation and not being talked at. I’ve been listening to these three on Lady Killers—as well as their other podcasting endeavors—for several years now. They have instant credibility with me, and I am just as engaged now as I was at the start of the pandemic when I went searching for a Stephen King-centric podcast to kill some time. As the newest version of Lady Killers takes flight, I hope Sammie never loses her infectious enthusiasm, and Jenn never stops being hilariously thirsty (even though the Skarsgards are lame). Really love the pod, incredibly insightful and considerate. Loved the recent episode on Bride of Frankenstein. I hope to see more older horror films, there’s so many to delve into.
