The Christian Physician | Healthcare, Faith, Medicine, Leadership, Healing Prayer, Trust God

Inga Hofmann, MD – Physician, Leadership Coach, Life Coach, Discipleship

Do you feel called to medicine, but unclear what God is asking of you in this season? Are you longing for deeper intimacy with Jesus, but struggling to make space for Him in the demands of medicine? Do you crave clear direction from the Holy Spirit, yet feel stuck in overthinking, uncertainty, or spiritual noise? I’m so glad you’re here. This podcast will help you hear God’s voice clearly in your daily life so you can boldly integrate your faith and medicine and step confidently into your God-given purpose in every season. I’m Inga, a Christian physician, mom, wife, and follower of Jesus. For years, I tried to live out my faith authentically while navigating the relentless pressures of academic medicine. But honestly? I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and often unsure whether I was hearing God… or just my own thoughts. I wanted clarity about career decisions, patients, and daily life. I tried to stay consistent with prayer and Scripture, but medicine kept pulling me off track. My quiet time was hit-or-miss. Faith felt compartmentalized. I felt defeated. Then something shifted. I realized I didn’t need more striving — I needed margin. I needed habits rooted in intimacy, not performance. When I committed to daily Scripture and prayer (for real this time), intimacy with God became my foundation. And from that place, I began hearing His voice with clarity — in prayer, in intercession, and even in caring for my patients. That shift led to Spirit-led discernment, bold obedience, and even a miracle with one of my patients that changed me forever. I have never been the same. Now I help Christian physicians: • Hear God’s voice — even on their busiest days • Integrate faith and medicine without apology • Walk confidently as Spirit-led doctors who honor both God and science If you’re ready to stop compartmentalizing your faith and start walking fully in your calling, this podcast is for you. Grab your journal and your sword (yes, your Bible).Let’s become the physicians God created us to be. 70. Do Miracles Still Happen Today? Healing, the Holy Spirit & Medicine | Interview with Ken Fish

Send us Fan Mail Do miracles still happen today? Does God still heal? And are healing, prophecy, deliverance, signs and wonders, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit still available to Christians today? In this episode of The Christian Physician Podcast, I sit down with Ken Fish, founder of Orbis Ministries, to explore healing and miracles, Christian healing prayer, the Holy Spirit, cessationism, supernatural healing, and the intersection of faith and medicine. Ken shares how his worldview began to change after studying at Princeton and wrestling honestly with a disconnect: the Bible clearly describes Jesus and His disciples healing the sick and moving in supernatural power but much of Western Christianity taught him not to expect those things today. Then he began encountering things he could not easily explain away. Ken shares the story of watching his mother’s painful mouth sores disappear during healing prayer, his years with John Wimber, and several extraordinary healing testimonies from decades of ministry. We also explore why Western medicine has become increasingly open to spirituality and alternative healing practices, why the Church cannot afford to abandon the conversation around healing, and what role Christian physicians and healthcare professionals may have in bringing a biblically grounded understanding of healing, the Holy Spirit, and the Kingdom of God back into medicine. 🔥 JOIN US IN BOSTON If this conversation makes you curious—or awakens something in you that says, “I want to understand this for myself”—come be in the room. 69. What Happens When God Interrupts Your Physician Career? Healing, Miracles, Calling and the Vision for Heal the Healers

Send us Fan Mail Have you ever wondered if the experiences, skills, struggles, and unexpected turns in your life are actually preparing you for something God hasn’t revealed yet? How do you recognize when God is calling you into a new assignment? And what do you do when that calling feels far bigger than you? In this episode, my friend Marilyn Kaminsky, founder of White Coat Revival and ViaRayma, turns the tables and interviews me! We talk about calling, obedience, faith and medicine—and the surprising ways God can prepare us years, even decades, before we understand what He was preparing us for. I share the story behind Heal the Healers, the patient encounter that changed my understanding of prayer, how seemingly unrelated parts of my medical and leadership career converged, and what I’ve learned about taking the next step when God’s assignment feels impossible. If you’re trying to discern what God is calling you to do in this season, this conversation will encourage you to look back, pay attention, and trust that He may have been preparing you longer than you realize. And what happens when God suddenly challenges what you believe about healing, miracles, the Holy Spirit, and even the way you practice medicine? In this episode, I sit down with surgeon and ordained minister Dr. Matthew Suh, for a powerful conversation about burnout, surrender, hearing the voice of Jesus, miraculous healing, the gift of faith, and learning to integrate faith and medicine in a completely different way. 67. Want to Become a Better Leader? The #1 Leadership Principle Every Christian Physician Should Know

Send us Fan Mail What if becoming a better leader has less to do with getting a title and more to do with how you lead yourself when no one is watching? Leadership begins long before you lead a team, department, organization, or ministry. It begins with your everyday choices, habits, reactions, priorities, and willingness to follow through on what God has already asked you to do. In this episode, we’re talking about self-leadership as a spiritual discipline and why self-control is more than a productivity skill. It’s a fruit of the Spirit. We’ll talk about: Why you can be highly disciplined and still struggle with self-leadershipHow your reactions, boundaries, and follow-through affect your leadershipThe difference between self-control and simply trying harderHow to recognize procrastination, avoidance, and misplaced prioritiesWhy sometimes “waiting for more confirmation” is actually keeping us from obeying what God has already shown usHere’s your challenge: Where is God asking you to lead yourself better in this season? Take that question into your quiet time this week. Ask the Lord to show you one area where you already know what to do, but haven’t consistently followed through. Ready for deeper support? 66. Feeling Stuck in Medicine? How Physician Mentorship or Coaching Can Give You the Support You Need

Send us Fan Mail You have the vision. You know there is more God has called you to do. So why do you still feel stuck trying to figure it all out on your own? Sometimes the problem isn’t that you need another strategy, book, or piece of advice. Sometimes the problem isn’t that you need more information or another strategy. Perhaps you simply need the right people around you. Do you need a mentor who has already walked the road? A coach who can help you uncover the blind spots and patterns keeping you stuck? Or a community of people who understand the unique road you’re walking? In this episode  I unpack the very different roles of mentors, coaches, and community and how to recognize what you actually need in this season. I share lessons from my own journey in academic medicine, leadership, coaching, and ministry, including why great mentors can be incredibly valuable but still have limitations, why more information often doesn’t solve the problem, and why isolation can quietly make everything harder. Because you were never meant to navigate your career, leadership, faith, and calling alone. If you’ve been feeling stuck, isolated, or unsure how to move from where you are to where you believe God is calling you, this episode will help you identify your next step. Want support taking that next step? If you’re looking for coaching, email me at inga@ingahoffmann.com or use the coaching application link below. 65. Ready for Spiritual Growth? How the Right Community Can Help Christian Physicians Get There, Fast

Send us Fan Mail What if the breakthrough you've been praying for isn't another book, podcast, or course—but simply getting into the right room? As physicians, we're conditioned to believe that more knowledge is the answer. But I've learned that some of the greatest transformations in my life didn't come from gaining more information. They came from being surrounded by people who challenged my thinking, stretched my faith, and expanded my vision of what God could do. In this episode, I share one of the most significant turning points in my own journey—attending a conference where I knew almost no one, but where God radically shifted the direction of my life and ministry. We'll talk about why the people and environments you intentionally place yourself in matter, how the right relationships accelerate growth, and why investing in yourself is often one of the greatest acts of stewardship God calls us to make. If you've been sensing that God is inviting you into something deeper, this episode will encourage you to stop waiting and start stepping into the rooms where He can grow you. In this episode, you'll learn:  Why information alone rarely produces lasting transformation  How the right community expands your vision and strengthens your faith  Why leadership and spiritual growth happen best in relationships—not isolation  How mentors, conferences, and intentional environments can accelerate your growth  Practical questions to help you discern whether a room is the right one for your next season Sometimes the next step in your calling isn't learning something new. It's simply having the courage to walk into the right room. 64. Want to Make a Bigger Impact? 3 Leadership Principles for Christian Physicians

Send us Fan Mail Is Your Leadership Lid Limiting Your Calling?  What if the biggest obstacle to the impact God has called you to make isn't your circumstances, but your current level of leadership? As physicians, we spend years developing our clinical expertise, but very little time developing our leadership. Yet if God has given you a bigger vision, He will often grow your capacity before He expands your influence. In this episode, I explore The Law of the Lid—a leadership principle that has shaped my own journey for more than a decade. We talk about why leadership is a learnable skill, common leadership blind spots physicians face, and practical ways to grow your influence so you can better steward the calling God has placed on your life. You'll learn: Why your leadership sets the ceiling for your impactCommon leadership lids that keep physicians stuckWhy growth requires intentional investmentQuestions to help identify the leadership lid God may be asking you to raise in this season If you're ready to grow as both a physician and a Kingdom leader, this episode is for you. 63. Want to Share Your Faith at Work? 3 Evangelism Lessons Christian Physicians Can Use in Medical Practice

Send us Fan Mail Have you ever felt the Holy Spirit nudging you to pray for someone—but you weren't sure what to do? Wonder what evangelism or healing ministry could actually look like as a physician? Wish you could integrate your faith more naturally into your everyday clinical practice? In this episode, I share stories from a recent ministry outreach and evangelism weekend that I hosted in Madison, Wisconsin with my friend, Dr. Alissa Hinkle. What began as a simple gathering for worship, healing prayer, and equipping quickly turned into a powerful reminder that God loves ordinary acts of obedience. From praying for a homeless man who had just left the hospital to unexpected conversations at the farmers market, I'll share several testimonies along with three practical lessons that every Christian physician can apply—not only in ministry, but also in patient care and everyday life. Whether you've never prayed for a stranger before or you're longing to grow in hearing God's voice and stepping out in faith, I hope these stories encourage you to take your next small step of obedience. In this episode, I discuss:  Why God often works through simple acts of obedience  A powerful testimony of leading a man to Christ after he was discharged from the hospital  Why both giving and receiving prayer require humility  What Jesus teaches us about praying more than once  Why people are desperate to be heard in today's hurried world  How slowing down can transform both ministry and patient care  Practical ways to begin integrating faith into your everyday medical practice Resources Mentioned Heal the Healers Physician & Healthcare Conference October 30–31, 2026 | Boston, MA Healing and Miracles: Bridging Science and Faith Register: https://healthehealersconference.com/boston2026 Join my free Facebook community for Christian physicians.  Looking for a mentor or have questions?
