Welcome to Tiger Therapy, where we delve into the mental and emotional side of what it takes to be successful, and specifically how to identify and get over the self doubt and limiting beliefs that hold so many people back and stop them realizing their full potential. Each week, join Pippa Woodhead, as she speaks to a new guest who has achieved success on their own terms - perhaps they’ve gone against the grain in some way, shattered a ceiling, done something unexpected, or they’ve broken generational patterns. “If You Don’t Have Self-Doubt, You’re Mindless” - Legendary Psychologist Dr. Ellen Langer

Dr. Ellen Langer is a legend in the field of psychology.  And a legend at Harvard University.  She’s the longest-serving professor of psychology at Harvard. She was also the first woman to ever be tenured in psychology at the university. Her 40+ year career has earned her the nicknames “the mother of mindfulness” and “the mother of positive psychology.” Until starting Tiger Therapy, I always thought self-doubt was an enemy to be vanquished. But Dr. Langer is another academic who has shared that self-doubt is important. In fact, she says, if you don’t feel self-doubt, you might be being mindless.  Research shows that most of us are mindless most of the time, but Dr. Langer believes that if we can work towards being more mindful it will help us tremendously in almost every facet of life. Her groundbreaking research has found that we can quite literally think ourselves younger, healthier and better - as well as totally changing our relationship with self-doubt.  (By the way - mindfulness is NOT to be mistaken for mediation.) This episode is full of the most mind-blowing studies, experiments and stories that have the power to change how you think about how you think.  Thank you Dr. Langer for coming on Tiger Therapy! ______ ---- Taking a short (baby related!) break ---- This is the last episode in Tiger Therapy Season 4. There have been 34 episodes so far with absolutely brilliant guests - I can't thank them enough for sharing their wisdom and stories about times where self-doubt and limiting beliefs got in the way. And thank you so much to everyone who's been listening along. I'm going on maternity leave, but Tiger Therapy will be back in early 2025. I can't wait! ______ Dr. Ellen Langer’s latest book The Mindful Body: Thinking Our Way to Chronic Health.  ______ Social media:  Pippa Woodhead | @pippa.woodhead Tigerhall  Ellen Langer | @ellenjlanger Hosted on Acast. “I Can Give You the Golden Keys to Success.” Lessons From the World’s #1 Behaviour Expert - Chase Hughes

Me: "Does anyone ever bother lying to you?" Chase Hughes: "You'd be surprised." I was genuinely so excited to speak to Chase Hughes, until about an hour before our interview when my excitement turned to nerves... I don't know about you, but I'm not sure I love the idea that someone can look at my face and know exactly what I'm thinking - which is precisely what Chase can do, being the no.1 behaviour and body language expert in the world. Chase is a neuroscientist, military veteran, bestselling author and star of YouTube's The Behaviour Panel (which if you haven't ever seen - I highly recommend). He used to train CIA operatives on how to negotiate, interrogate, and read people for extreme persuasion. He now teaches the same skills to business people. He will be the first to tell you that getting a handle on your own mind is key to doing this well. If you feel self-doubt, your confidence is shaky or if you feel fear - this will show on your face. Chase has spent over 20 years (and millions of US government money) to develop how best to train someone as quickly as possible how to master their mind and get over limiting beliefs - and he tells us how to do it in this episode of Tiger Therapy. His advice is extraordinary (and something people normally pay him thousands for). Thanks so much Chase for the fascinating conversation - I have a feeling this will be an episode I'll want to listen to again and again! _______ Learn more about Chase via his website here. _______ Social media:  Pippa Woodhead | @pippa.woodhead Tigerhall  @chasehughesofficial Hosted on Acast. The Truth About Imposter Syndrome (and How to Stop It Holding You Back) - Dr. Lisa Orbé-Austin

I thought I knew a fair bit about imposter syndrome until I spoke to this week’s guest, Dr. Lisa Orbé-Austin. Lisa is a psychologist and imposter syndrome expert, with two bestselling books to her name (co-written with her husband, Dr. Richard Orbé-Austin).  She earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University, she has contributed to academic journals with her research on imposter syndrome, and her views are regularly sought by the media - she has appeared on The Today Show, Good Morning America, NBC News, and in outlets such as Forbes, Huffington Post and Business Insider. If you’ve ever thought to yourself “I’m not good enough”, “Don’t mess up or everyone will think you suck” or ““Everything I’ve ever achieved was through luck,” then this conversation is for you. Lisa takes us through the research, debunks and clarifies common imposter syndrome myths, and (crucially!) explains how you can start getting past feeling this way. I LOVED this conversation - thanks so much Lisa for coming on Tiger Therapy! _______ Dr. Lisa Orbé-Austin’s books: Own Your Greatness: Overcome Imposter Syndrome, Beat Self-Doubt, and Succeed in Life  Your Unstoppable Greatness: Break Free from Imposter Syndrome, Cultivate Your Agency, and Achieve Your Ultimate Career Goals _______ Social media:  Pippa Woodhead | @pippa.woodhead Tigerhall  Dr. Lisa Orbé-Austin | @drorbeaustin  Hosted on Acast. Is Trying to be “Good” Keeping You Stuck? - Elise Loehnen

Welcome to Season 4 of Tiger Therapy!!! _____ “We are all stuck in a web. Every one of us is conditioned and caught up in a system that we cannot see.”  I first learned about Elise in early 2020 when The Goop Lab came out on Netflix. There she was, side-by-side with Gwyneth Paltrow, discussing innovative health experiments they would all be trying as part of the show. I remember thinking “Chief Content Officer at Goop… what a cool job.”  Fast forward and I’ve now been following Elise for a few years, I’ve seen her transition from Goop to being an incredible podcaster and author - FIVE of her books have been New York Times bestsellers. So now I think she has an even cooler job. Her latest book - ‘On Our Best Behavior: The Price Women Pay to Be Good’, an analysis of how history and culture have shaped how women see themselves, was an instant NYT bestseller.  As Tiger Therapy is all about the ways we hold ourselves back - through self-doubt and limiting beliefs, so much of the book struck a chord. When you listen you’ll understand why.  By the way, this conversation isn’t just for women. I truly encourage everyone to listen as it will really make you think about how our upbringing and society systems condition us all.  Thank you so much Elise for coming on Tiger Therapy.  _______ Social media:  Pippa Woodhead | @pippa.woodhead Tigerhall  Elise Loehnen Hosted on Acast.
