Welcome to National Parks for Kids, the podcast for kids and families wanting a little more information about the national parks they are curious about or visiting. I’m Jaimie, and my son Brant had the idea to make this podcast together to share awesome information and some of our favorite experiences in the parks.

    Big Bend National Park, Texas

    Send us a text Big Bend National Park is one of the most remote parks in the lower 48 states. It is wild and vast, with a dramatic bend in the Rio Grande that gives the park its name. You can explore canyons, old mines, and hot springs, and learn about the park’s fascinating cultural and natural history as you adventure. After a day of exploring, stay up after sunset to enjoy some of the darkest, most star-filled skies in the United States, making Big Bend one of the country’s premier stargazing destinations.

    Mammoth Caves National Park, Kentucky

    Send us a text Mammoth Caves National Park is the longest cave system in the world! Scientists have mapped 426 miles (686km), and are still discovering more. Mammoth Caves has a long history of explorers from Native Americans, to miners, to tourists. Come on adventure with Jaimie and Brant and learn about the storied history of the park. Mammoth Caves is also home to some unusual eyeless creatures that have adapted to live in total darkness, some species are found no where else in the world. Come find out why Mammoth caves was given the distinction of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an International Biosphere Reserve, and if you haven't been already why you should definitely visit.

    Sequoia National Park, California

    Send us a text Sequoia National Park is home to the world's largest trees by volume. Come learn how long they can live, their amazing survival adaptations and who helped protect them from logging and helped develop Sequoia National Park, the answer will surprise you! There are so many great adventures to have in this park, hiking, climbing, waterfalls, caving and you can even hike to the highest mountain in the lower 48 states, Mount Whitney. Learn what makes Sequoia such a unique park from it's tall peaks, to it's interesting history and of course the Sequoia Redwoods. Come adventure with us!

    Grand Tetons National Park, WY

    Send us a text Grand Tetons National Park is famous for towering peaks that rise up above the valley floor. Grand Tetons is home to some of the wildest animals in North America, the largest herd of elk roam here, as well as moose, wolves, brown bears and black bears! Come learn how Grand Tetons National Park earned it's name, how it became a park, and the geology and biology of the park. Listen carefully as there are three kid friendly trivia questions at the end, and a sprinkling of jokes!

Come find out who lives on this island, how it was used historically and that although this is one of the least visited parks, it is one of the most re-visited parks! We can't wait to go back here some day and go backpacking!

    Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota

    Send us a text Voyageurs National Park became one of our favorite parks. We loved exploring this park by boat and on foot. The best way to explore this park is by water, we loved learning about the wolf populations, and the history of the fur trade in this area.  Come learn why this is currently Brant's favorite national park he's visited!

    Rocky Mountain National Park

    Send us a text Rocky Mountain National Park is  located in north-central Colorado, it is a breathtaking landscape known for its towering peaks, diverse ecosystems, and abundant wildlife. It encompasses over 400 square miles of mountains, including over 60 peaks exceeding 12,000 feet, and it's tallest mountain,  Longs Peak reaching 14,259 feet. The park features a variety of environments, from montane forests to alpine tundra, and offers numerous recreational activities like hiking, camping, and scenic drives. Join us as we adventure through this park, learn about the biology, geology and fun things to do in and and around the park. It's an adventure you don't want to miss.

    Glacier National Park, Montana

    Send us a text Glacier National Park is one of our favorite parks. From the towering mountains, blue lakes and abundant wildlife it is one of America's most beloved treasures. There is an adventure for any age, from boating on Lake McDonald, to a scenic drive on the Going-to-the-sun-road, to a kid friendly hike to Avalanche lake, or a heart pumping longer journey to the high alpine, there is something for everyone in Glacier National Park. Join us as we share some biology, history and geology of the park and some of our favorite adventures.
