The 'King of Sling' Mac Boucher On Being A Self-Taught Pro + Golf Content Creation | Closed Course

Welcome back to another episode of 'Closed Course' powered by Pins and Aces! Blake and Erik are back for another great interview, catching up with former professional golfer and golf content creator, Mac Boucher! Mac picked up a golf club for the first time at the age of 18, and is fully self-taught when it comes to his unique skill set. After a brain cyst forced him to give up all the sports he grew up playing, golf became his passion and number one priority. He worked with Sean Foley to perfect his game, and started playing professionally in Canada. His professional career slowed down in 2017, when he moved to New Zealand to become a teaching professional. During COVID, when teaching slowed down, he transitioned more into golf content creation, making all sorts of social media content around his unique golf game. After grinding to gain a significant following, Mac is now a well-known golf creator, and has one of the largest golf-based followings in all of Canada! Mac and the guys discuss his journey to becoming a self-taught pro, how he broke into the realm of content creation, the increased crossover between professional athletes and golf, and all sorts of different events and tournaments that he has coming up in the near future. From the best golf courses in Canada, his biggest tips for golf content creation, and so much more, this is an awesome interview you won't want to miss! A few weeks ago, Pins and Aces hosted their annual social golf tournament in Denver at Willis Case Golf Course. The guys discussed the success of the tournament, the winning scores, and even some controversy around a multi-team tie once all the scores were turned in. Either way, the tournament was a hit and drew an awesome crowd! Plus, the people at Pins who organized the tournament may have found a solution to teams that cheat during four-man scramble best-ball tournaments… Finally, the guys recap their penalty kick challenge, how difficult it really is to kick a PK, and talk some American football as the preseason is ramping up and the regular season is fast approaching. Kamaru Usman On Facing Du Plessis + Fight Week Emotions + Learning To Control Fear | Closed Course

Welcome back to another episode of Closed Course! This week's special guest is former undisputed UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru Usman, who owns a 21-4 MMA record. With nine wins by knockout, one by submission, and 11 by decision, he's earned the nickname "The Nigerian Nightmare." He's stepping into the Octagon in Oklahoma City this weekend, but before then, we've got him in studio for an action-packed interview that you won't want to miss. With a fight coming up this weekend against Dricus Du Plessis, Usman discusses the emotions that come with fight week and the thoughts that race through his mind as he prepares to step into the Octagon. He also shares his broader mindset as a fighter and explains how training differs from the actual fight. For Usman, training places a heavy emphasis on the physical aspects of fighting, but once fight night arrives, it becomes almost entirely mental. He takes a deep dive into how he's developed that mindset over time and fine-tuned both his physical and mental preparation throughout his career. Usman also dives into some other intriguing topics, including how he controls fear, his biggest rivalries, the role of trash talk in the UFC, his personal and family life, and his journey into the game of golf.
