    More Than Houses: Changing Lives in Houston County with a Hand Up

    In this episode, we sit down with Houston County Habitat for Humanity to talk about how affordable homeownership is transforming lives in Middle Georgia. From building safe, stable homes to revitalizing neighborhoods and creating opportunities for families, Habitat’s mission goes far beyond construction — it’s about building hope, dignity, and stronger communities.     Sometimes, life throws unexpected challenges our way. A job loss, medical emergency, or other financial hardship can make it difficult to keep up with monthly expenses—including your electric bill. In this episode of Front Porch Chats, we're shining a light on one of the most meaningful services Flint Energies provides: Member Advocacy. Our Member Advocacy team works one-on-one with members who are experiencing financial hardship, helping them explore available resources and connect with organizations that may be able to assist with electric bill payments. While Flint Energies doesn't directly provide financial assistance, our advocates serve as compassionate guides—listening, answering questions, and helping members navigate programs that can make a real difference. Whether you're facing a temporary hardship or simply want to learn about the resources available in our communities, this episode offers hope, information, and encouragement.     The State of the Co-op: A Year in Review at Flint Energies

From growth and reliability to infrastructure investments, community impact, economic development and preparing for the future, we’re pulling back the curtain on the people, priorities and decisions that keep the cooperative moving forward. Because the state of the co-op isn’t just about numbers — it’s about the members, families, businesses and communities that make Flint Energies what it is. Also, please join us for our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at Southside Baptist Church (1040 S. Houston Lake Rd. Warner Robins, Georgia). Doors open at 8:30 a.m., and the business meeting begins at 10:00 a.m. The first 1,000 members will receive a member appreciation gift. You'll also enjoy music provided by the Southside Baptist Church Worship and Praise Band, coffee and donuts, as well as a complimentary BBQ lunch.

    A Place to Belong: How Happy Hour is Changing Lives in Middle Georgia

    In this episode, we spotlight the incredible work of Happy Hour Service Center and its mission to create opportunities, independence, and community for developmentally disabled individuals across Middle Georgia. For decades, Happy Hour has provided a welcoming environment where individuals can grow socially, emotionally, and vocationally while developing meaningful relationships and life skills. Their work goes far beyond traditional care services — they are helping individuals discover purpose, confidence, and a true sense of belonging.     The City that World War II Built

    In this episode, we explore the story of Warner Robins — a city born from the urgency of World War II and shaped by decades of growth surrounding Robins Air Force Base. What began as a small railroad town known as Wellston transformed almost overnight into one of Georgia’s most influential military communities after the establishment of the air base in 1941. Today, Warner Robins is asking a bigger question: Who are we beyond the base? We dive into the city’s efforts to create a stronger brand identity, create a strong downtown, and build gathering spaces that reflect the community’s future while honoring its past.     Leadership in the Making: Taylor County Empower Graduates Share Their Experience

    In this episode of Front Porch Chats, we hear from recent graduates of the EMPOWER Youth Leadership Program from Taylor County as they reflect on a year of personal growth, leadership development, and discovering how they can make a lasting impact in their communities. Through EMPOWER, these students participated in hands-on learning experiences that helped them strengthen communication skills, build confidence, and better understand the importance of service, teamwork, and civic engagement. The program encouraged them to step beyond the classroom and see leadership in action through meaningful interactions with community leaders and organizations. From personal development and leadership training to learning about cooperative education, community service, and economic development, students gained valuable insight into what it takes to help communities grow and thrive.
