The Curiosity Shop with Brené Brown and Adam Grant

I've listened to a lot of podcasts, but The Curiosity Shop has had the biggest impact on me. Every episode leaves me learning something new, whether it's about myself, how I think, or how I can continue to grow. As someone working toward a leadership role, this podcast has been like a leadership boot camp. It has challenged my perspective, strengthened my self-awareness, and given me practical insights that I can apply both professionally and personally. If you're interested in personal growth, emotional intelligence, or becoming a better leader, I can't recommend this podcast enough. It's one of those rare shows where every episode gives you something valuable to reflect on long after you've finished listening.

With familiarity with Brene Brown’s work, I expected deeper than average conversations. Add Adam Grant into the mix, and the conversation ventures into uncomfortable territory that a single person alone would bypass. This makes possible unexpected revelations.

The conversation on self regulation inspired me to review for the first time, I have considered reviewing many many times and the most consistent theme that drives those thoughts relates to my understanding of DBT and how it aligns with almost everything you all talk about. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy as designed by Marsha Linehan has so many parallels to you all’s work. I’m so curious why it has not come up in any of the (possibly all) episodes or books I’ve listened to by Dr. Brown. From what I understand DBT is based on scientific evidence, which seems like it would be right up your alley. DBT is strongly associated with treatment of one of the most stigmatized diagnoses I have seen in the behavioral health world, Borderline Personality Disorder. I don’t think this would apply to you all but perhaps if the curiosity shop investigated DBT it might help people find, use and de-stigmatize BPD and DBT. I am soooo grateful for the work you two do. I have so much more to say but humanizing people with BPD in the eyes of therapists is something that I don’t see, and to some degree applies to all of us like depression or anxiety do. Actually, the symptoms that I hear you describing as hindering leadership are the same symptoms that are addressed in DBT and that people with a BPD diagnosis suffer from but people in the executive offices are leaders and people in DBT occupy different spaces in our community.

Love the podcast…I’ve learned a lot! My only feedback is please use less org psych / business jargon (e.g., “c-suite”) for those of us in other disciplines
