#76 - Finding Out You're Autistic as an Adult with Dr. Angela Kingdon

At ten years old, Dr. Angela Kingdon decided she'd been born smart, efficient, and stuck with a terrible personality. Decades later, an autism diagnosis rewrote that whole story. Turns out she was never a bad duck. She was a swan. This week we sat down with Dr. Angela Kingdon, an autistic author, podcaster, and cultural advocate. Angela is the founder and executive director of the Autistic Culture Institute, co-founder of the Autistic Culture Podcast Network, host of the Late Diagnosis Club podcast, and author of Am I Actually Autistic? We talk about why so many women in our generation are only now discovering they're autistic, what masking costs over a lifetime, and why autistic brains may be taking in far more of the world than the rest of us. Brandi spent 20 years as an elementary school teacher, so this conversation hit close to home. If you've ever wondered whether you (or someone you love) might be on the spectrum, this one is for you. What You'll Learn: Why Angela spent her childhood believing she simply "got a bad personality" (and the fairy tale that finally made it make sense) What left-handedness in the 1940s can teach us about today's rise in autism diagnoses Why late diagnosis is a generational gap, and why today's kids likely won't face it What masking really is, and why Angela compares it to a pirate accent slipping out when you're tired Why women, people of color, and queer people often mask harder, and how that kept them from being diagnosed The curb-cut question Angela asked Brandi that reframes how schools should support every kid Why Angela says autistic "mind reading" is really pattern matching, and what synaptic pruning has to do with it Why closing your eyes to meditate can send some autistic people into high alert (and what works instead) How Angela can hold a book and tell you what's inside it without opening it Your Next Steps: Follow Eversio Wellness on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/ Shop Eversio Wellness and save 15% with code PODCAST15: https://www.eversiowellness.com/discount/PODCAST15?redirect=%2Fcollections%2Fall-products Take our wellness QUIZ to find the right mushroom for you: https://www.eversiowellness.com/pages/take-our-quiz

#75 - What If Your Workout Matched Your Energy? with Jenn Pike

What if skipping your workout has nothing to do with discipline? Jenn Pike is back with us, and she makes a case we haven't stopped thinking about since we hit stop: movement was never meant to be an appointment. It's how you come home to yourself. Jenn Pike is a Medical Exercise Specialist, Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist, and the founder of Synced, an online movement studio and community. She has been teaching group fitness since she was 17, and in 30 years she has watched what happens when people stop one rep short of the change they came for. In this conversation we talk about why so many of us treat movement like a chore, what feeling safe has to do with getting stronger, and why "I don't have time" is worth asking about twice. Dr. Desiree shares the car accident that forced her to relearn movement from scratch, Brandi tells the story of the yin class that changed how she handles discomfort, and Jenn introduces us to her 81-year-old mom, who now goes to the gym almost every day after 45 years away. We also talk about the Mushroom Moment Reset Box, our collaboration with Jenn, and why we built it around mushrooms and movement together. What You'll Learn Why "the plan said 12 reps" might be the exact moment you stop short of what you came for What Jenn changed in her own training in her mid-30s, and how doing less, more intentionally, got her better results The two cues Jenn gives more than any others in class (and why so many of us need permission to slow down) How Dr. Desiree relearned movement after a car accident and a series of concussions, and why safety mattered more than the exercises The two-word swap that turned Brandi's workouts from a chore into something she looks forward to Why "it has to feel comfortable" can quietly keep you from the things you value most A five-second test for whether you really don't have time to move (your phone already knows the answer) How Jenn's mom found her way back to the gym at 81, and the one thing that made it stick Why we think the answer is mushrooms and movement, not mushrooms or movement Your Next Steps Follow Eversio Wellness on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/ Shop Eversio Wellness and save 15% with code PODCAST15: https://www.eversiowellness.com/discount/PODCAST15?redirect=%2Fcollections%2Fall-products Take our wellness QUIZ to find the right mushroom for you: https://www.eversiowellness.com/pages/take-our-quiz Jenn Pike's website: https://jennpike.com/ Jenn on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jennpike Synced by Jenn Pike: https://jennpike.com/synced

#74 - Neuroscience Meets Noetics: Why You Can't Out-Think Stress with Fabian Henzler

What if the fear you keep trying to get rid of is the exact reason you're here? Our friend Fabian thinks it is. And he came all the way from Germany (well, over Zoom at 9 PM his time) to tell us why. Fabian is our first guest ever from Europe, and he's someone who has been working quietly in the background at Eversio, helping us figure out what running a conscious business looks like in real life. We met him at the meditation retreats we love so much, and it turns out the three of us share a lot: human design, a deep love of meditation, and a serious nerdy streak. Fabian started meditating at 15, studies quantum physics and neuroscience, works with quantum computers, and spends his days helping people and companies work with their belief systems. In this episode, he walks us through why fear might be useful, what your nervous system is doing to your attention every single day, and where he sees quantum physics and consciousness meeting. Dr. Des also asks him the question we think everyone should be asking: where does established science end, and where does hypothesis begin? What You'll Learn: Why Fabian believes we came here for the fear, not to avoid it (and what that means for every entrepreneur lying awake at 3 AM) The "find everything red in the room" exercise that shows you, in about 30 seconds, how your nervous system narrows what you see How the sympathetic and parasympathetic sides of your nervous system shape whether you spot threats or opportunities The breathing shift Fabian uses to widen his focus (inhale through the nose, long exhale through the mouth) What 40 Hz gamma waves and six breaths per minute have to do with Fabian's view of heart and brain coherence Why Fabian sees a quantum computer and a meditating human doing a similar thing The one-foot-in-each-world balance: why manifesting from the couch with a bag of chips is not a plan A sneak peek at a sleep course the three of us are building together (you heard it here first) Fabian's answers to our rapid-fire round, including Cancun vs. California, coffee vs. matcha, and his favorite way to experience mushrooms Your Next Steps: Follow Eversio Wellness on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/ Watch the episode on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@eversiowellness Shop Eversio Wellness and save 15% with code PODCAST15: https://www.eversiowellness.com/discount/PODCAST15?redirect=%2Fcollections%2Fall-products Take our wellness QUIZ to find the right mushroom for you: https://www.eversiowellness.com/pages/take-our-quiz

#73 - You Created Your Life. Now What? - with Adele Tevlin

We have never had a guest like this on the podcast before. We told her nothing was off the table, and she took us at our word. Fair warning: you're about to get Adele'd. Adele Tevlin is a cognitive behavioral therapist, mindset coach, and the founder of the CEO Blueprint. She studied neuroscience at McGill and has been teaching this work for 25 years. We first heard her name at the Pink Skirt Project, which Eversio Wellness sponsored back in July, where people were still talking about her talk months later. In this conversation, Adele opens up about the five-year family court battle and the 2023 crash that brought her to her knees, and why she now says the wobble lasts 60 seconds instead of 60 days. We talk about the grief of outgrowing people, why "this is happening for you" can land like a punch, and why so many moms keep looking at their kids so they don't have to look at themselves. Content note: This episode includes open discussion of PTSD, depression, and a period when Adele had thoughts of taking her life. If you are struggling, please contact {INSERT CRISIS LINE} or a trusted professional. This episode also contains explicit language. What You'll Learn: Why losing people as you grow might not be about them at all (and the fear Adele says is really underneath it) The difference between wanting everyone to come with you and being afraid of being left alone Why happiness every day is not the goal, and what Adele says matters more What "the wobble is 60 seconds, not 60 days" means in real life Why saying "this is happening for you" to someone in crisis can backfire (and what they need first) The mentor advice that stopped Adele from giving unsolicited advice for good Why knowing something is not the same as being it Adele's take on the difference between being responsible FOR your kids and responsible TO your partner Why "put your kids aside, what about you?" might be the most loving thing a mom can hear A first glimpse at Adele's two guided psilocybin ceremonies (and why we already booked part two) Your Next Steps: Follow Eversio Wellness on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/ Shop Eversio Wellness and save 15% with code PODCAST15: https://www.eversiowellness.com/discount/PODCAST15?redirect=%2Fcollections%2Fall-products Take our wellness QUIZ to find the right mushroom for you: https://www.eversiowellness.com/pages/take-our-quiz Watch us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@eversiowellness

#72 - Sovereign Living: Reclaiming Ownership of Your Life with Jarrett Vaughan

Bees on the roof. Chickens in the front yard. A lemonade stand that funds Bitcoin savings. This week we're talking about sovereignty, and our guest is living it on a city lot in Kitsilano. This one is different from what you usually hear on the Eversio Experience, and that's exactly why we wanted it. We're joined by Jarrett Vaughan, an adjunct professor at the UBC Sauder School of Business. He teaches marketing through the lens of sound money, incentives, and real-world economics. Jarrett spent a decade in luxury hospitality, including the Four Seasons, and has been studying and using Bitcoin since 2017. Today he and his wife Ashley raise three kids, keep chickens and honeybees, grow food year-round, and heat their home with salvaged urban firewood. All of it happens in the middle of Vancouver. We talk about the real difference between autonomy and sovereignty, and how his family teaches kids about money, giving, and adventure. Jarrett also explains why he believes the systems most of us depend on are more fragile than we think. What You'll Learn: The moment a decade of five-star hotels made Jarrett realize he wanted out Why autonomy is choosing from a set menu, and sovereignty is writing your own How four hens, a rooftop beehive, and potted raspberries add up to real food on a city lot (bees take him about four hours a year) The three-part money lesson behind his kids' lemonade stand: spend, invest, give Why his family lives by "safety third," and what comes first and second The one-word shift, "is" versus "has," that changed how his family talks about his daughter Sailor's disability How they're approaching homeschooling with the door left open, and why they let their son choose Jarrett's three small first steps toward a more sovereign life, starting this week Resources Mentioned in This Episode: Unshackled Living podcast (Jarrett's show): https://unshackled.living/ Ashley Vaughan on Instagram (@ashvau): https://www.instagram.com/ashvau/ Your Next Steps: Follow Eversio Wellness on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/ Shop Eversio Wellness and save 15% with code PODCAST15: https://www.eversiowellness.com/discount/PODCAST15?redirect=%2Fcollections%2Fall-products Take our wellness QUIZ to find the right mushroom for you: https://www.eversiowellness.com/pages/take-our-quiz Subscribe on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@eversiowellness

#71 - From Idea to Income in Energetic Alignment with Anna Lozano

You've done the personal development work. Read the books. Said the affirmations. Maybe attended the retreats. And still, there is that voice that kicks in when things slow down, when the supplier cancels, when the launch doesn't land, when you're driving through the part of the city that drops your frequency in seconds. That is not a sign the work isn't working. That is the zero-to-seven operating system, still running the show. Anna Lozano spent six years building Love Powered Co., the affirmation card company she launched in 2016, before affirmations were on every Indigo shelf, before the mindfulness industry was a trillion-dollar market. She set three company goals before the company even existed. She hit all three. She sold in 2022 on a high. And then she spent three years quietly processing an identity loss nobody warned her was coming. This conversation is the one you don't find anywhere else. Anna is the founder of the upcoming Maya Pickleball brand, host of The Prosperity Playground podcast, and curator of immersive female founder retreats in Mexico. We found each other through our dear friend Jenn Pike, who stood on stage at the Pink Skirt Project Summit this summer and called Anna an angel. You are about to find out exactly why that word fits. This conversation goes everywhere. We get into why "I am" are the two most powerful words anyone has access to. We talk about what it costs to exit a brand you built from the ground up, and the grief nobody prepares you for on the other side. We get into Human Design and what it means that all three of us are 4/6 generators. We talk about the specific difference between growing and being stuck in a healing loop, and how to tell which one you're actually in right now. We cover Dr. Joe Dispenza, Bob Proctor, Louise Hay, and the six-year-old running your business decisions from inside your nervous system. Clear your afternoon. What You'll Learn: What "I am" followed by anything actually creates, and why those two words run more of your life than any strategy you've put in place The specific lack paradigm Anna inherited as a Polish immigrant child, and why she says every single person carries a version of it regardless of how charmed their childhood looked How Love Powered Co. was built from three specific company goals in 2016, achieved all three, and why Anna still wasn't prepared for what the exit cost her emotionally The difference between a healing loop rooted in not-enoughness and genuine devotion to growth as a student of life (Anna draws a sharp line between the two) What the "six-year-old you" question reveals about every reaction you've had this week, from the email that made your stomach drop to the decision that felt urgent when it probably wasn't What a 4/6 generator is in Human Design and what the three phases of the "six" line explain about the career of anyone who keeps starting over on purpose Why Maya Pickleball was born in a Dr. Joe Dispenza abundance meditation over a year ago, still has no prototype, and why Anna is at peace with that What identity loss after a business exit actually looks like from the inside, and what it means to feel worthy without a title to put in your bio How to tell whether you're investing in yourself from abundance or from lack, and why the frequency of that decision changes the outcome completely Your Next Steps: Take the free mushroom wellness quiz to find your match: https://www.eversiowellness.com/pages/take-our-quiz Shop Eversio Wellness and save 15% with code PODCAST15: https://www.eversiowellness.com/discount/PODCAST15?redirect=%2Fcollections%2Fall-products Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/ Subscribe on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0cNGNkTVcgpS2an1IFy1HJ Subscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-eversio-experience-podcast/id1735036660 Watch on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@eversiowellness

#70 - Could Mold Be Making You Sick?

Dr. Desiree has been sharing pieces of this story on her personal Instagram for years. We finally sat down and told the whole thing. What it felt like when her skin started reacting. Why it took years before mold even crossed her mind. And what it actually took to come out the other side. This episode flips the usual format. Brandi takes the host chair and interviews Dr. Desiree about one of the most personal health challenges of her life: mold toxicity. Starting with the first strange symptoms in 2021 and ending with nasal sprays, binders, a Candida protocol, and a trip to Dallas that gave her the first real window of relief she'd felt in years, Dr. Desiree walks through everything she experienced, everything she tried, and what finally worked. She also gets honest about the hardest part: being a trained naturopathic doctor who still couldn't connect the dots when it was her own body sending the signals. If you've had unexplained skin reactions, relentless fatigue, histamine responses to foods you used to tolerate, chronic congestion, or brain fog that just won't lift, this episode is worth sitting with. What You'll Learn: Why mold toxicity mimics so many other conditions and why even practitioners consistently miss it The full constellation of symptoms Dr. Desiree experienced: skin rashes, eyebrow hair loss, histamine reactions, tongue numbness, chronic congestion, shortness of breath, brain fog, fatigue, and sudden constipation The antifungal tincture that triggered Dr. Desiree's first major flare — and why that flare was actually the beginning of the answer What a slow washing machine leak has to do with years of unresolved symptoms (and why you often can't see the mold causing it) How the fungi kingdom actually breaks down: mushrooms, yeasts, and molds are related but not the same — not even close The layered recovery protocol in sequence: detox pathway support first, antifungals and antimicrobials second, binders and sauna third What Herxheimer (die-off) reactions feel like — and how to know when you're doing too much, too fast The nasal spray protocol that helped Dr. Desiree stop mouth breathing at night and start rebuilding her nasal microbiome What CIRS (chronic inflammatory response syndrome) and MARCONS mean, and why they matter for long-term mold recovery Whether mold testing is worth the cost — and what Desiree actually did and didn't test herself Your Next Steps: Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/ Shop Eversio Wellness and save 15% with code PODCAST15: https://www.eversiowellness.com/discount/PODCAST15?redirect=%2Fcollections%2Fall-products Take the free wellness quiz to find the right mushroom for you: https://www.eversiowellness.com/pages/take-our-quiz

#69 - You Don't Need More Strategy, You Need Capacity with Tess Rouse

You've read the books. You've done the workshops. You've got the strategy. So why does everything still feel like too much? Tess Rouse has a different answer than what you've been sold: you don't need more strategy. You need more capacity. In this episode, we sit down with Tess Rouse, breathwork facilitator and somatic practitioner, who spent 18 years managing rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease while building a 16-year executive leadership career on sheer drive. She's worked with individuals and organizations on one disruptive idea: burnout isn't fixed by doing more, it's fixed by building the body's ability to hold more. If you've ever wondered why you can have all the tools and still feel like you're running on empty, this episode is the conversation you need. What You'll Learn What "capacity" actually means and how low capacity shows up in your relationships, your rest, and your reactions The honest difference between someone who is genuinely regulated under pressure and someone who has gotten very good at masking dysregulation Why the high-achieving, overperforming coping mechanism is one of the hardest to recognize because everyone is applauding you for it The two specific steps to actually build nervous system capacity (and why everyone wants to skip the first one) What Hebbian law has to do with the automatic patterns running your daily life right now Why the nervous system doesn't update just because your circumstances do, and what it takes to actually rewire old patterns Why the body cannot tell the difference between an imagined experience and a real one, and how breathwork uses this to help repattern the nervous system What Tess is actually watching for in a session when she sees someone's nervous system shift in real time Why avoiding emotion doesn't dissolve it, it embeds it, and what that embedding looks like in the body over years Your Next Steps: Follow us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eversiowellness/ Shop Eversio Wellness and save 15% with code PODCAST15: https://www.eversiowellness.com/discount/PODCAST15?redirect=%2Fcollections%2Fall-products Take our wellness quiz to find the right mushroom for you: https://www.eversiowellness.com/pages/take-our-quiz
