From Pentagon Renovations To Barn Caves, 46 Years 3000 Projects & A New Housing Model | Steven Biegel E57

What does it take to design buildings that last, lead billion-dollar assignments, navigate moments of American history and still remain willing to rethink the future of housing? In this episode of The Paradyme Shift, Ryan Garland sits down with Steven L. Biegel, AIA—a veteran architect, author, executive and strategic advisor whose career spans 46 years and more than 3,000 projects. Born and raised in Texas and educated at Syracuse University, Stephen earned his architectural license at a time when the examination involved hand-drawn plans, drafting tables, slide rules and a 12-hour design test. From those early beginnings, he went on to participate in some of the country’s most established architecture and engineering organizations, serve as a senior executive within a publicly traded firm, acquire and consolidate smaller architectural practices and help lead projects at a scale few professionals ever experience. Stephen’s résumé extends far beyond traditional architectural design. His career has included serving as a vice president at the National Institute of Building Sciences, working as a Washington, D.C. lobbyist, contributing to a Reagan administration task force on affordable housing and overseeing architectural and engineering operations connected to the $1.2 billion Pentagon renovation. He is also the author of three books, including Profit by Design, which he wrote to help younger architects understand that talent alone is not enough to build a successful practice. Steven explains why architects must understand business planning, capitalization, insurance, budgeting, acquisitions, operations and risk management—not simply design beautiful buildings. The conversation also moves into several extraordinary chapters from Steven personal history. He discusses his relationship with the Bush family, including meetings at the White House and the phone call to then–Vice President George H.W. Bush that helped arrange Steven wedding at the Washington National Cathedral. Steven then recounts his experience surrounding September 11, 2001. He was scheduled to be at the Pentagon that morning and had staff members working inside the building. He shares the moment he saw smoke rising from the Pentagon, the call from his wife telling him to turn around and pick up their children, and the loss of two members of his team. Drawing from decades of architectural and structural experience, Steven also explains his professional perspective on the collapse of the World Trade Center towers and why the subject remains deeply personal to him. In another remarkable portion of the episode, Steven shares what he describes as his firsthand interaction with the CIA. Because of the security clearance associated with his Pentagon work, he says he was approached to lease and renovate an office in Washington, D.C. He recounts his dealings with a contact known only as “Simon,” the construction of a concealed surveillance area and a hidden room disguised behind false electrical panels. These stories are presented as Steven’s personal account of events from one of the most unusual periods of his career. But this episode is not only about the past. Ryan and Steven take listeners inside the design and evolution of Barn Caves, Paradyme’s next-generation residential concept in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. What began as an expanded man-cave idea has evolved into a flexible, three-story living product featuring oversized garages, private elevators, adaptable floor plans and resort-style health and wellness amenities. Steven explains how the architecture was engineered to maximize flexibility, eliminate unnecessary interior columns, address fire separation and prepare the design for difficult structural and environmental conditions. Ryan also explains how market demand, changing interest rates, buyer feedback and a list of more than 1,200 interested prospects helped reshape the project. Together, they explore how Barn Caves could serve entrepreneurs, retirees, multigenerational families, collectors and business owners who want more than a traditional home. The discussion examines the future of attainable luxury housing, aging-in-place design, flexible live-work environments and the economics of separating community amenities into independently operated commercial assets. This episode is an unfiltered conversation about architecture, American history, leadership, business, risk, innovation, legacy and the future of how people live. Key topics include: Steven L. Biegel, 46 years in architecture, 3,000+ projects, Pentagon renovation, September 11, CIA, George H.W. Bush, Washington National Cathedral, affordable housing policy, architectural firm acquisitions, Profit by Design, Barn Caves, Lake Havasu real estate, flexible housing, private elevators, oversized garages, health and wellness amenities, development strategy, institutional real estate and legacy. Healthcare Beyond the Checklist: Dr. Heather Anderson's New Chapter | Heather, Ryan and Joe E55

In this episode of The Paradyme Shift, Ryan Garland and Joe Roman sit down with Dr. Heather Anderson, DNP, to introduce an exciting new chapter in health and wellness at Family Office Society Gym. Heather is a nurse practitioner with a doctorate in women’s health, a certified nurse-midwife, and an experienced healthcare provider who has spent more than a decade caring for patients. She shares her journey from working throughout the hospital system and building a successful women’s health practice to recognizing the limitations of traditional, insurance-driven healthcare—and ultimately choosing a new path that allows her to care for people in a more personal, intentional, and comprehensive way. The conversation introduces Heather’s vision for Executive Health: a patient-centered approach built around listening, understanding each person’s complete health history, reviewing appropriate lab work, identifying individual goals, and helping people navigate the right resources for their needs. Heather explains why sustainable health begins with five essential foundations—sleep, hydration, nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction—and why those fundamentals should be addressed before following the latest wellness trend. Ryan, Joe, and Heather also have an open and honest discussion about hormone health, HRT, peptides, proper sourcing, dosing protocols, medical monitoring, and the growing risks associated with purchasing products from unqualified or unverified sources. Joe shares his own personal experience with a dosing mistake, reinforcing why education, accurate instructions, lab work, and professional guidance matter. More than anything, this episode highlights the larger vision for Family Office Society: creating something that goes far beyond a traditional gym. It is about building a community where fitness, wellness, recovery, education, and genuine human connection can come together under one roof. For Heather, this represents a new beginning—an opportunity to return to caring for people in a way that is healthier for her, more personal for the patient, and beneficial to the entire Lake Havasu community. This conversation is for educational purposes only and should not be considered individualized medical advice. Always consult an appropriately licensed healthcare professional before beginning any treatment, hormone, supplement, or peptide protocol. Mask Off Market Update: How Smart Operators Navigate Volatility, AI and Real Estate | Joe Roman E53

In this Mask Off edition of The Paradyme Shift, Ryan Garland and Joe Roman deliver a candid July 2026 market update focused on how market volatility, inflation, oil prices, geopolitical uncertainty and rapid AI growth are reshaping the way investors protect and deploy capital. Ryan explains why wealth preservation has become just as important as wealth creation, why investors are increasingly looking toward smaller, vertically integrated fund managers, and how greater control over underwriting, construction, operations and the underlying assets can help firms navigate uncertain markets. The conversation explores private equity, real estate investing, alternative investments, portfolio diversification, long-term strategy and the importance of making decisions based on real data instead of emotion. Ryan also shares how the 2008 financial crisis permanently changed the way he approaches risk. The experience of struggling to provide for his newborn son created the discipline that still drives him to study the markets, track where capital is moving and position Paradyme Companies around long-term opportunities. It is a real look at the pressure behind being a founder, the responsibility of managing investor capital and the habits required to lead through uncertainty. The conversation also examines the growth and risks surrounding artificial intelligence, including AI data-center infrastructure, access to power and water, regulatory uncertainty and the need for businesses to adopt AI without blindly following the hype. Ryan and Joe discuss how Paradyme uses AI to improve marketing, operations, productivity and decision-making while remaining grounded in tangible, asset-backed real estate. The second half of the episode goes behind the business and into leadership, hiring, accountability and company culture. Joe asks Ryan how he decides who to hire, when to let someone go, how he mentors people he cares about and what separates an employee from a true executive-level partner. Their own journey becomes the proof. Joe began working with Paradyme for only ten hours a week as a videographer. By studying the business, understanding the brand, delivering consistent results and taking ownership beyond his original role, he grew into Ryan’s right-hand partner and Executive Media Director. Their story is a powerful example of what can happen when talent, loyalty, personal development and opportunity come together. Ryan and Joe also provide updates across the current Paradyme Companies development pipeline, including Barn Caves, Paradyme Flats, Paradyme Flex, Family Office Society Gym, Paradyme Storage, Boat House Storage and the company’s San Antonio multifamily development. This episode is for investors, founders, entrepreneurs, executives and business leaders who want a deeper understanding of how Paradyme evaluates markets, manages risk, builds teams and creates long-term value through private equity and real estate development. The Operating System for Your Life: AI, Accountability and Human Connection | Garin Heslop E50

In this episode of The Paradyme Shift, Ryan Garland sits down with entrepreneur and AI founder Garin Heslop for a deeply personal conversation about adversity, reinvention, leadership, technology, and purpose. Before discussing artificial intelligence, Garin shares the experiences that shaped the man and mission behind his company. He opens up about a difficult childhood, being raised by his father, losing his grandmother, going through a divorce, becoming separated from the children he helped raise, losing his father, and watching the eight-figure company he built face overwhelming challenges during COVID. At his lowest point, Garin was forced to make a decision: end his life or end the fearful, shame-filled version of himself that no longer represented who he wanted to become. That moment became the beginning of a complete personal transformation built around faith, gratitude, discipline, service, health, and intentional living. Garin now channels those lessons into an ambitious AI-powered Life Operating System designed to connect the areas people usually manage separately—including health, finances, relationships, goals, calendars, nutrition, personal development, and daily responsibilities. Ryan and Garin also explore the platform’s potential as a Business Operating System capable of supporting employee communication, training, workflows, accountability, compliance, customer relationship management, leadership, and productivity. The goal is not simply to make people work harder. It is to help people become healthier, more present, and more effective in every part of their lives. The conversation expands into private equity, company acquisitions, data privacy, wearable technology, employee retention, philanthropy, and Garin’s mission to build homes and learning centers for families in need. This episode is about more than AI. It is about building technology that helps people remember what matters most.
