#103 - But vs. Yes, And: How to Share the Truth Without Starting an Argument

What if one little word could change the direction of your evangelistic conversations? In this episode of Gospel Talks, George Binoka and Jeff Musgrave explore the difference between responding with “but” and responding with “yes, and.” Through a simple conversation exercise, Jeff demonstrates how our mindset can either shut people down or open the door to meaningful discussions about Jesus. But does this mean we should agree with people when they are wrong? Absolutely not. The goal isn't to compromise biblical truth. It's to learn how to listen carefully, find common ground, ask thoughtful questions, and guide people toward the truth without turning every disagreement into a debate. George and Jeff discuss how Jesus modeled this approach, including His conversation with the Samaritan woman in John 4. They also work through practical examples of common objections to Christianity, including the charge that Christians are hypocrites. Discover how to approach objections as opportunities to understand people rather than obstacles to overcome, and why kindness, graciousness, and gentleness are essential to effective relational evangelism. In this episode, you'll learn: Why “but” can turn a conversation into a competition. How “yes, and” helps you acknowledge someone's perspective without compromising biblical truth. How to respond when someone says Christians are hypocrites. What Jesus' conversation with the Samaritan woman teaches us about finding common ground. How listening well can open doors to meaningful gospel conversations. The takeaway: You don't have to win an argument to help someone see the truth. Learn to listen with love, speak with grace, and point people to Jesus. Gospel Talks exists to help Christians around the world become more effective in relational evangelism and discipleship.

#102 - When Your Church Doesn’t Share Your Heart for Evangelism (Part 3)

What should a pastor do when his church resists change, criticizes his approach to evangelism, or simply refuses to share the gospel personally? In Part 3 of our conversation about a listener's email, George Binoka and Jeff Musgrave discuss the challenges pastors face when trying to cultivate a culture of personal evangelism. From handling criticism and navigating the familiar objection, "We've never done it that way before," to overcoming discouragement when ministry efforts seem fruitless, this conversation offers practical biblical wisdom for church leaders. George and Jeff explore why adding more evangelism programs isn't necessarily the answer, why lasting change begins with the heart, and how pastors can lead with both humility and conviction. Rather than trying to change an entire congregation overnight, Jeff encourages pastors to start with one willing partner, pray together for someone to reach, and begin making disciples one person at a time. They also address the importance of measuring ministry by biblical faithfulness rather than numbers alone, continuing to innovate, taking risks for the gospel, and trusting God's timing when results are slow to come. Whether you're a pastor feeling discouraged, a church leader navigating resistance, or a Christian who wants to encourage your pastor and become more effective in evangelism, this episode will remind you to stay faithful, keep praying, and keep laboring in the harvest. In this episode, you'll learn: How pastors should respond to criticism about evangelism methods. Why personal evangelism matters more than simply adding programs. How to lead church members toward change without alienating them. Why one-on-one discipleship can help transform a church's culture. How to remain faithful when ministry results are slow. Why pastors should keep innovating and taking risks for the gospel. How church members can encourage and pray for their pastors. Stay in the fight. Keep praying. Keep reaching people with the gospel.

#101 - When Your Church Doesn’t Share Your Heart for Evangelism (Part 2)

What do you do when your church doesn't share your heart for evangelism? In this episode of Gospel Talks, George Binoka and Jeff Musgrave continue their conversation about a pastor's struggle when the church he leads isn't actively reaching the lost. The answer isn't simply to preach another sermon on evangelism. Pastors must model it. They must bring people with them, equip them, help them take their first steps, and coach them through the fear and uncertainty that often keeps Christians from engaging their neighbors, coworkers, friends, and family members. George and Jeff also talk about what happens when a church has developed a negative reputation in its community. How does a church rebuild trust? How long does it take? And what does genuine repentance look like when a church has become known as inward-focused? From modeling evangelism to praying for open doors, from loving difficult neighbors to rebuilding a church's reputation, this conversation challenges pastors and church members alike to stop talking about evangelism and start living it. The harvest is still plentiful. The question is whether we are willing to become the laborers God has called us to be. 00:00 Modeling Evangelism in Church Leadership 02:19 The Importance of Training and Equipping 05:11 Overcoming Barriers to Evangelism 07:58 Building Genuine Relationships for Evangelism 10:24 Addressing Community Perceptions of the Church 13:11 Creating Opportunities for Spiritual Conversations 15:51 Rebuilding Church Credibility in the Community 18:14 The Role of Prayer in Evangelism 20:58 Repentance and Changing Church Culture Further Global Evangelism By DonatingStart A Bible Study Today!Need Resources?

#97 - When Life Falls Apart: Sharing Christ In The Middle of Trauma (Part 2)

In Part Two of When Life Falls Apart: Sharing Christ in the Middle of Trauma, George Binoka and Jeff Musgrave explore what it looks like to move from simply listening to someone in crisis to naturally and meaningfully sharing the gospel. How do you know when it's the right time to talk about Jesus? How do you avoid being insensitive without allowing fear to keep you silent? Jeff explains why we should look for "soul needs," pray for natural openings, and introduce people to a Person—not simply present them with a plan of salvation. The conversation also tackles the difficult question, "Why would a loving God allow this?" and shows how the biblical story of sin, suffering, the cross, and the resurrection gives us a framework for understanding pain. Jesus is not the perpetrator of our suffering; He is the Savior who entered into our suffering and ultimately promises to deliver us from it. But the conversation doesn't stop with helping others. George and Jeff discuss how Christians can allow their own suffering to become a testimony of genuine hope. Even when our candle is burning in the middle of our own darkness, God can use that light to reach others. Finally, Jeff gives five practical ways to help someone walking through tragedy: bring a meal, ask how you can pray, listen more than you talk, keep showing up, and ask God for eyes to see the opportunities He puts in your path. When someone else's candle has gone out, Christians are called to carry their own candle into the darkness—and bring them the light of Jesus.
