Nerdy & Nice: A Pop Culture Podcast

What a fun show! I usually listen in the car and often get the giggles. Thanks for the fun break every week. (Go check out their other podcast too: The Resistance Podcast.)

I usually enjoy chitchat shows about pop culture, but for this one I have to be honest, I am really on the bubble. I’m on the verge of abandoning the show because I am continually frustrated that how many MAJOR pop culture events and shows are off the radar of the hosts. I’ve started the drinking game so that I take a shot every time Lacey says, “I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen that.“ She hasn’t seen any of the Indiana Jones movies. She didn’t watch the Super Bowl. If you host a show about pop culture, that’s your assignment, that’s your homework. I don’t want to listen to what you browsed when you got around to it. I would like you to know more about what’s out there than me, not less. Jon is not much better when he says things like, “I might actually see that one in the theater.” Yes. Go. You are reporting on an industry that is dying and you don’t seem to be interested enough to help save it. There are so many actors these hosts don’t quite remember who they are or where they’re from… Might I suggest a laptop open during the podcast? Or, you should just know. You’re making me feel very old and you guys sound like teenagers. Lacey recently watched “Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs.” She talked about it like it was a niche discovery from some ancient time that many of us might not remember. It was 10 years ago. It had a sequel, and became one of Sony’s biggest successes that year. It defined a lot of the subversive of animation after it. Then she “discovered” that Lord and Miller directed it in the end credits. She’s having a revelation and I’m shouting at my speakers. I sound like a cranky old man, but I just want a little more thought ahead of the pop culture they chat about. If you know, something‘s coming up to talk about that week, at least skim through the material. I wish these two the best, and I just encourage them to step up their game.

I really liked the show and one of them I really relate to a lot. But cannot do it anymore, I have to move on. No politics and would suggest do not engage outside of the podcast.
