    why do people choose homeschooling?

Why do more and more families in Kerala choose homeschooling, and what does it really look like day to day?In this episode of Uppu Podcast, hosts Safwan and Harvi sit down with Vidhu Mariam and Rustam, founders of Kring and well-known homeschoolers of their own children. Together they look at why parents are questioning the conventional school system, what homeschooling and unschooling mean in practice, and how children learn when the classroom is the home, the neighbourhood and the world. It is an honest, practical conversation for parents, students, teachers and anyone curious about alternative education.Homeschooling in Kerala doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Kerala is known for its high literacy, its strong public education tradition, and a culture where marks, entrance exams and “settled” careers carry a lot of weight. Rising academic pressure, tuition and coaching culture, and questions about children’s mental well-being are pushing some parents to look for another way. The episode also touches on family and community expectations, legal and practical questions, socialisation, and the hesitation many Malayali parents feel about stepping off the familiar path.If you’re a parent considering homeschooling, a student who feels stuck in the system, or simply someone interested in the future of education in Kerala, this Malayalam podcast conversation is for you.support us at: https://buymeacoffee.com/uppuhosts: safwan and hafiz crew: juliabeeb #UppuPodcast #HamidaliVazhakkad #KeralaGeography #MalayalamPodcast #travel Join us for another insightful episode where we delve into diverse topics, bridging cultures and ideas. The Book of Your Whole Life | ep.13

"A soul will then know what it has sent forward and what it has left behind." (Surah Al-Infitar 82:5) In episode 13 of the Thadabbur Series, we sit in the car by the beach and reflect on one verse. We usually picture our book of deeds as a list we have already graded in our own favour. But what happens when it is opened? Starting from the classical meanings of "sent forward and left behind", we think about it the way we check accounts or KPIs: is a life in profit or in loss? Then, through a 4D video simulation and Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five, we imagine seeing a whole life at once, including the paths we could have taken and did not. These are personal reflections grounded in the tafsir, not a tafsir. Tell us how this verse speaks to you in the comments. ഇത്തവണ തദബ്ബുർ കാറിലിരുന്നാണ്. support us at: https://buymeacoffee.com/uppu #Thadabbur #QuranReflection #malayalampodcast 00:00 - Thadabbur from the Car 00:45 - Surah Al-Infitar 82:5 02:00 - The Many Meanings of "Sent Forward and Left Behind" 02:45 - The Standard We Set for Ourselves 03:30 - A Journal Entry for Your Life 05:30 - Your Life as One Long Trail 07:30 - When the Book Is Opened 08:30 - The Lives We Didn't Live 09:30 - What Thadabbur Is, and Isn't

The Geography Your School Never Taught You | Hamidali Vazhakkad

Why does Kerala have a mountain range, a midland, rivers and the sea all within an hour’s drive, and why do most of us never notice? In this episode of Uppu Podcast, we sit with Hamidali Vazhakkad in front of a big map of Kerala. He walks us through the land we live on: how the Palakkad Gap was formed, what “churam” really means, whether Wayanad sits on the Deccan Plateau, how the Wayanad tunnel will change the ghat, and why Attappadi gets so little rain. From there the conversation travels to the Himalayas, the Great Trigonometrical Survey, the Nepal glacier-lake disaster and the long history of human travel. If you’ve ever wondered why your geography textbook felt boring, this episode shows you what it was supposed to be. Hamidali Vazhakkad is a higher secondary history teacher who has become one of Kerala’s most-loved explainers of geography, travel and environment. He has made seven journeys to the Himalayas and grew up beside the Chaliyar, in the years of the Mavoor Gwalior Rayons pollution struggle. That’s where his environmental lens began. Stay till the end for the conversation on development vs environment, what tourism did to Manali and our disposable lifestyle, and his advice on how to be a responsible traveller. It’s a Malayalam podcast for anyone who loves Kerala, travel or simply learning to see the world with open eyes. support us at: https://buymeacoffee.com/uppu #podcast #malayalampodcast #travel Join us for another insightful episode where we delve into diverse topics, bridging cultures and ideas. Zayn al-‘Abidin ibn ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn said:“We used to learn the military expeditions (Maghazi) of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ just as we would learn a surah from the Qur’an.”In this episode, we sit down to reflect on The First Spring by renowned journalist and thinker Wadah Khanfar. While many of us know the prophetic Seerah through its spiritual lens, we rarely examine the Prophet as a master strategist who transformed a divided region in just two decades.
