    65. The Significance of the Temple Land (Part 4): David's Choice, Plague, and Divine Intervention

Darren and producer Dillon continue the Temple Land series by zooming in to the exact temple site, focusing on 1 Chronicles 21 and its link to Mount Moriah. They discuss David’s sinful military census, the tension between accounts saying Satan or God incited it, and God offering David three punishments; David chooses three days of plague, during which 70,000 men die. An angel of the Lord moves toward Jerusalem but is stopped at Ornan the Jebusite’s threshing floor, leading Gad to instruct David to build an altar there. David insists on paying full price, offers sacrifices, and God answers with fire from heaven, after which the angel sheathes his sword and the plague halts. They connect this site to Abraham and Isaac and to Solomon later building the temple there, previewing a final episode on why it matters today and future temple questions. 63. The Significance of the Temple (Part 2): Melchizedek, Salem, and the Scandal of the Genealogies.

Melchizedek, Salem, and the Scandal of the Genealogies. Darren and Dillon continue their series on the “special” temple land, recapping Noah’s sons receiving lands, Canaan squatting on Shem’s inheritance, and the Canaanites’ connection to giants. They focus on Genesis 14, where Abraham rescues Lot after eastern kings had conquered Canaanite peoples including giant clans, and then Abraham tithes to Melchizedek, king of Salem (Jerusalem) and priest of the Most High God. They explore why a priest of God already exists before the later Levitical priesthood and connect Melchizedek to Hebrews 7 and Psalm 110, discussing whether he is human, a spiritual being, or the pre-incarnate Jesus. They cite a Dead Sea Scrolls Melchizedek text and argue Masoretic genealogy ages were altered (e.g., 34 vs 134) to make Shem overlap with Abraham and support a claim that Melchizedek was Shem, countering early Christian claims. 62. The Significance of the Temple Land (Part 1): Noah, Shem, and Canaan's Curse

After a long break, the hosts return with life updates and launch a new series exploring why the land of Solomon’s temple became “special” and how the tabernacle/temple story moved through history. They start with Noah, discussing Genesis 9 and arguing that “seeing/uncovering nakedness” is a biblical euphemism for sexual wrongdoing, supported by Leviticus 18 translation comparisons. They address how the “curse of Ham/Canaan” has been misused to justify racism and slavery, stressing their view that Jesus broke the curse. Using Genesis genealogies and details from the Book of Jubilees, they outline post-flood land allotments to Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Canaan’s alleged illegal settlement in Shem’s territory, and how this frames the later displacement of Canaanites and Abraham’s link to the land. They preview an upcoming episode on Abraham, Israel’s land, and Melchizedek. Check out the Facebook Page for the podcast!
