Rep. Francesca Hong is a Mom, Line Cook, and Leading the Polls for Wisconsin Governor

Wisconsin State Rep. Francesca Hong is running for Governor — she’s from Madison, a former restaurant owner and chef, bartender, and single mom who rents and sends her kid to public schools. Francesca is exactly the kind of candidate the Democratic establishment told us couldn’t win. If you find value in these critical updates, join our movement for justice and subscribe. She joins Let’s Address This live today to talk about her no-corporate-PAC campaign, the fight to protect voting rights as Republicans gut the Voting Rights Act and gerrymander Wisconsin’s congressional maps, and why a working-class movement — not incrementalism — is the only path forward. From taxing the rich to confronting big tech’s takeover of Wisconsin’s natural resources, this conversation is a blueprint for what it looks like when the people closest to the pain are finally closest to the power. MAGA Rigs Maps, We Fight Back

As the Supreme Court dismantles key protections of the Voting Rights Act, Tennessee has become one of the clearest examples of what comes next. In this urgent conversation, I go live with Tennessee Rep. Justin J. Pearson and State Futures Founder and President Gaby Goldstein to discuss racist redistricting, the coordinated attack on Black political power, and why state legislatures have become the new front lines in the fight for democracy. If you find value in these critical updates, join our movement for justice and subscribe. Watch this interview on YouTube Subscribe to Let’s Address This on that platform, too, to support our expansion, and for more long-form video analysis and interviews with political candidates, elected officials, academics, and more Rep. Pearson shares the story behind his confrontation outside a Tennessee redistricting hearing after Republicans cracked apart the state’s only majority-Black congressional district. Gaby Goldstein breaks down how decades of conservative organizing around state legislatures and the Supreme Court led to this moment, and why people power — especially in the South — remains essential to resisting fascism and rebuilding democratic accountability. Redistricting, Voter Suppression, and the Democrats Who Won't Fight Back

Yesterday I had the opportunity to again join THE LEFT HOOK with Wajahat Ali. Together we break down one of the most urgent threats to our democracy right now: redistricting — the redrawing of congressional maps by Republicans in Virginia, South Carolina, Ohio, and Texas to suppress the vote and stay in power, while Democratic leadership stands by and does nothing. Let's Address This. I am doing everything in my power to stave off fascism in the United States, and I welcome your support. Subscribe below and join the movement. We follow the money, call out the sophisticated machinery of voter suppression, and make the case for the people-funded candidates running unapologetically. And we close on something important: as two Muslim fathers, our faith commands hope — and we refuse to give in to cynicism and apathy when our children are watching. You can also watch this interview on YouTube. Be sure to subscribe to Let's Address This on that platform so we can continue building and reaching those interested in defending human rights and democracy. Thank you Caro Henry, Joe Ballou, Elaine Cimino, Rasha Refaie, Education is a lamp, and many others for tuning into my live video with THE LEFT HOOK with Wajahat Ali. Why Your Support Matters: Every dollar we spend is a vote for the kind of future we want. Subscribe and help me create a future more committed to justice and universal human rights. Thank you. Episode 222: Florida and Virginia — Two Races You Need to Know About

On Episode 222 of The Qasim Rashid Show: Going along with my theme of elevating those candidates who are actually running the people-fighting campaigns that we demand. Angie and Salaam are not beating around the bush. They’re not mincing words on healthcare or condemning the genocide in Gaza. They’re being unapologetic. I’m doing everything I can to elevate their profile so that you can support them and vote for them to make sure that we have a Congress and Senate that actually reflects the will of the people. Live from Angie Nixon's bookstore, we discuss her Florida Senate race, how she took to the Florida House floor last week as a State Rep. with a bull horn to denounce new racist maps as unconstitutional. We need to get her elected as she faces a tough primary battle ahead. Salaam Bhatti, my good friend, and a young, public interest lawyer, is running for Congress in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District on a people-powered platform focused on economic justice, campaign finance reform, and serving the public interest — not special interests. He is running during a particularly volatile time as Virginia has gone through a massive redistricting. His primary is coming up soon.In this conversation, we discuss why working people are losing faith in establishment politics and what it will take to rebuild democracy from the ground up. Episode 221: If You’re Tired of Bought Politicians, Watch These Two Interviews

On Episode 221 of The Qasim Rashid Show: Staying with my promise of elevating strong candidates running for Congress against Republicans, MAGA fascists, and corporate Democrats who take AIPAC money — we have two phenomenal candidates joining today’s show. Mussab Ali is running for U.S. Congress in New Jersey’s 8th District. A young Pakistani-American entrepreneur, community organizer, and elected representative in the state of New Jersey — he shares how his journey began after 9/11 when his father lost his job simply because of his name, and how that moment pushed him into public service. From becoming one of the youngest elected officials in Jersey City, to delivering real results for working people, he’s shown what leadership with courage actually looks like. And I sit down with Hartzell Gray, running to represent Missouri's 4th District in Congress. Before he even announced his campaign, he got a DM from AIPAC. And he said no. The great-grandson of a sharecropper, a journalist, and a former D1 athlete, Hartzell is running on universal healthcare, guaranteed housing, a living wage, and a freedom budget in the tradition of Dr. King, Bayard Rustin, and A. Philip Randolph. Watch my interview with Hartzell now. I want you all to hear from him and get involved in his campaign. Thank you for tuning in to the Qasim Rashid Show. Episode 220: Interviews with Brad Lander & Rep. Chris Rabb

On Episode 220 of The Qasim Rashid Show: I sat down with two congressional candidates who are doing something rare: running people-powered campaigns against entrenched money and power—and winning. Both races are “five-alarm fires” for anyone who believes government should actually represent the people. You can watch both live interviews below. Brad Lander helped bring ranked choice voting to New York City, cross-endorsed Zohran Mamdani to stop Andrew Cuomo, and is now running for Congress in NY-10 against Dan Goldman—a quarter-billionaire who has voted to censure Rashida Tlaib, authorized warrantless wiretaps, and taken AIPAC money while the genocide in Gaza continues. The average rent in Brad’s district is over $5,000 a month, and Goldman is not going to be the one to unrig that. Brad is going in to fight for affordable housing, healthcare, immigrant protections, and a foreign policy grounded in human rights. Pennsylvania State Rep. Chris Rabb is running for Congress in one of the most watched primaries in the country—outraising his establishment opponents without a single dollar of corporate PAC money, even as dark money groups tied to AIPAC pour millions into the race to stop him. We get into who is funding the attacks, why corporate money shapes both parties, and why he believes accountability has to start within the Democratic Party itself. First, An Important Announcement 📢 Thanks to your support, Let’s Address This is expanding into a second state! The brilliant Saadia Mirza has joined our team as Texas State Director. Today, Saadia launches Let’s Address Texas. Saadia is a business owner, political strategist, and marketing professional who has led in this space for 22 years. She’ll be sharing daily Texas-specific content on politics, human rights, and social justice, with receipts, sources, names, and calls to action to counter the injustices we see. And lest there be any doubt—always without a paywall. Read her launch post, and especially if you're in Texas, make sure you subscribe. That's two states now providing the independent, fact-checked, human rights coverage too often ignored by corporate media. In case you missed it, and you live in Illinois, make sure you sign up for the most important political developments shared on a daily basis from Let's Address Illinois with Dylan Blaha. On Episode 219 of The Qasim Rashid Show: Now, let's dive into today's episode. Three years into the war in Sudan, 33 million Sudanese people are at risk of starvation, the UAE is funding the RSF to commit genocide, and the U.S.—the largest arms seller to the UAE—is not using the leverage it has. Congresswoman Sara Jacobs joins the show to talk about the Stand Up for Sudan Act, what cutting USAID funding means for people on the ground, and how we can play a more meaningful role to stop these atrocities from happening. Watch my full interview with Congresswoman Sara Jacobs on YouTube: Also in today’s episode, a contractor named Chamel Abdul Karim allegedly set fire to a Kimberly-Clark warehouse in Ontario, California—causing $750 million in damage—and filmed himself doing it. Corporate media called it a crime story and stopped there. I do the math corporate media won’t do: Kimberly-Clark made $2.55 billion in profit while paying workers $30,000 below the cost of living in the city where they worked. Chamel will likely go to prison. The executives who made that choice face no consequences whatsoever. You can listen to today’s episode here on Substack or watch my mathematical breakdown of the Kimberly-Clark warehouse fire: Thank you for tuning in to The Qasim Rashid Show.
