    #115 LukeLikes「The Olympics」

Luke Likes 'The Olympics' Yeah, Luke likes the Olympics, Luke likes sports, so also Luke likes the Olympics, the Olympic Games, Summer Olympics or Winter Olympics. It doesn't really matter because it's all fascinating. Yeah, and when it comes to the Winter Olympics, oh my, this is crazy and awesome at the same time. Crazy because, well, look at those athletes, athletes that show such incredible skills, skills. So it is awesome that at the same time, oh, come on, that is so risky and could be really dangerous, dangerous. Especially some sports, some disciplines, disciplines. So this time around, the Olympics take place in Milano Cortina, which is Italy. And as you know, the Olympics are held, are held, so take place, are held every four years, every four years. So you have to wait really long for the Olympic Games. So the athletes from around the world, from around the world compete, compete in disciplines that you might hear for the first time, for the first time in your life. Yeah, this is the beauty of the Winter Olympics. So there is obviously skiing, skiing disciplines where athletes race, race down the hill, down the hill and whoever crosses, crosses the finish line first, well, wins, wins, wins a gold medal, a gold medal. Second, wins a silver one, a silver medal and whoever comes third, wins a bronze medal. But wait, these can get crazier than that. How about putting on a pair of skis and trying to jump in them? Yeah, you heard me right, you heard me right, people do that. Jumping off a big hill and landing after, well, over 100 meters. Yeah, and whoever lands the furthest, the furthest, wins. As simple as that, and so crazy and awesome at the same time. So hills and slopes, hills and slopes are just some of the venues, so places, venues where those competitions, competitions take place. But there is also an ice skating rink, ice skating rink and ice tracks, yeah, where athletes, well, go ice skating, where athletes race, race each other. That's speed skating, speed skating. They dance, that's incredible. That's figure skating, obviously, figure skating and finally the team sport, the team sport of ice hockey, where skaters, skaters with sticks, sticks and protective gear, they look quite scary to be honest, try to score a goal, score a goal while skating at the same time. How crazy is this? Yeah, it is crazy. Also, let's not forget about snowboard or curling, curling. Do you know what that is? Well, google it, google it. Cross country, cross country skiing, bobsleigh and so on and so on. Just can't wait for the action, can't wait to see all these skilled athletes compete. And then the Paralympic Games for disabled athletes, so people with disabilities, disabilities, disabled athletes, which is even crazier to watch. So can't wait, hope to have a lot of fun, II'm going to support, support my athletes and can't stop wondering - how on earth are they doing that? I guess I'll never know. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License

    #114 LukeLikes「Myself」

Luke Likes 'Myself' Luke likes himself, I like myself and I hope, I hope you like yourself. Myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, itself. Do know these in English and do know how to use them, how to use them, how to use them yourself, yourself. Well, let's see, let's see. Oh, that's a good one, enjoy yourself. Hmm, so I can say, I hope you are enjoying yourself right now, listening to this episode, you are enjoying yourself. Cool, cool, thanks. Introduce yourself, meaning meet someone and say who you are. Introduce yourself. So the other day, I met this guy and he forgot to introduce himself. He forgot to, maybe he didn't, maybe he didn't, maybe he just didn't want to introduce himself to me, because he's a spy. Maybe. Look at yourself, look at yourself. Hmm, she looked at herself in the mirror and thought, 'Well, what do I wear today? What do I wear today?' Sounds familiar? Does it sound familiar? Well, I will not answer this question. Myself. Talk to yourself. Oh, that's a good one again, because I do, I do talk to myself, because that's a great way to practice your languages. I do talk to myself. Myself, yourself, himself, herself, and itself. And now, ourselves, yourselves, and themselves. Ourselves, yourselves, themselves. Do you get it? I'm sure you do. I'm sure you can do it yourselves, but let's have a look together. We are enjoying ourselves here, we are enjoying ourselves. After this episode, you should try and practice these sentences, yourselves, practice these sentences, yourselves, yourselves. That's right, without me. Oh, a little bit with me too. Okay, for example, they are preparing themselves, because they are leaving tomorrow. They are preparing themselves. Myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself. Ourselves, yourselves, themselves. Well, that's a little selfish, selfish episode, because it's always, always, always about ourselves. So now, you do it yourselves. Talk to yourselves, enjoy yourselves, help yourselves, and remember, always be yourselves. And maybe don't blame yourselves when you make a mistake. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License

    #113 LukeLikes「New And Old」

Luke Likes 'New And Old' New, new, new things, new places, new people, new, hmm, experiences. Do you like things to be new? Do you like new things to happen? Oh yeah, sure. Oh, that's new, that's amazing, that's exciting. Or do you prefer things to be old? Well, maybe the same and unchanged, unchanged. A new car, for example. That's good, it's fast, it's modern, modern and, well, reliable. So when you say it is reliable, it doesn't break too often. Reliable. And it is fancy. New car, fancy car, fancy. So people like it, it's nice to look at and maybe a little expensive. Fancy. An old car, an old car, on the other hand, well, can break a lot, can break down a lot and not so fancy, maybe a little dirty here and there. Also, not so fast, I'm sure and not as economical, economical as the new one either. But, but, yeah, it's familiar, familiar. If it is familiar, we know it very, very well. It is familiar and easy to use, obviously. In a way, it is like an old friend. Do you know what I mean? I'm sure you do. New and old, new and old. A new place. A new place is exciting. It is interesting and there is a lot to explore in it. It is unknown, unknown, so maybe sometimes easy to feel a little lost, feel lost and confused. Sometimes you can't know what to expect. Sometimes something good, sometimes not as good. An old place, on the other hand, an old place is familiar again and comfortable. Not very surprising and a little, hmm, predictable. When you say it is predictable, you know exactly what is going to happen, predictable. So in a way, it can be safe and cozy. Yeah, a new place and an old place. And the same goes for people. For example, a new champion and an old champion. New versus old. Is one better than the other? Well, it is new. A new champion is young and energetic, strong and hungry for success, hungry for success. Wants more and more. A new champion is flashy, flashy, so attractive and impressive, showing a lot of skill and talent. Yeah, and an old champion, on the other hand, an old champion might not be as flashy, is much, much older and definitely slower and not as healthy, yeah. But still, still, there is a lot of skill, plenty of experience, plenty of memories, a big, big heart and a lot of respect for the old, Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License

    #112 LukeLikes「Superstitious」

Luke Likes 'Superstitious' That's a difficult word for today, superstitious, superstitious. Are you superstitious? When you ask somebody if they are superstitious, you ask if they believe that some events cannot be explained, cannot be explained by science or reason, so in a logical way. Especially if this event can bring bad luck or good luck. A black cat for example, or breaking a mirror. Do you know what I mean? Superstitious. I am not, I am really not, but, but... So here is what happened. So the other day, the other day, which means a few days ago, I had this dream that I bought a new car and just got it. Oh that was beautiful, I was so excited and obviously I wanted to show it to my family and friends and share this happiness with them. So I drove to my family's place and on the way, just in front of the place, just in front, there was a big stone in the middle of the street and I hit it so hard that I ruined, I ruined, so I broke, the wheel of the brand new car, I was devastated, devastated, so very, very upset. I felt embarrassed, embarrassed, so I felt ashamed because come on, that's a new car and it is already ruined. So I called my brother for help because I can always count on him, I can always count, so he's always ready to help. And then I woke up. Are you with me so far? Are you with me? Nothing really strange, we all have dreams like that from time to time. So I woke up and went to work as usual. And during my break I decided to stop by, so visit for a little while, stop by my family's place. There was my brother over there and I shared, I shared this story, the dream, with him. We laughed a little and he said, 'I'm waiting for your call, I am waiting for your call'. But in fact my mom called and asked my brother to help her with the shopping, to bring it upstairs. So I said, 'I will take care, I will take care of that. It is my turn to help'. So I did and I was a little late, so I was in a little hurry. And while I was doing that, while I was carrying the shopping bags, our neighbour slipped and fell down in the street, right in the middle of the street. So I rushed, so I ran quickly, I rushed to help her get up obviously. I must add that the street was very slippery and it was covered with ice, so there was ice on it, it was covered with ice and it was snowing, it was snowing. Pretty bad conditions. Anyway, I rushed to help her get up and, well, while I was doing that I slipped and fell down just next to her. You can imagine it was quite funny to look at. Comedy. Well, it wasn't a comedy for me because I slipped and fell down on my back and landed straight, well, you might not believe that, I landed straight on a stone, which was part of the street. I remember I was lying there for a few seconds because I couldn't believe what just happened, next to this poor lady. After some time we got up and we felt quite alright then, but still a little shaken, shaken, so a little shocked, we could say. But the weird thing, the strange thing, the weird thing is that the stone which I fell on, I fell on and hurt my back so hard, I can feel it right now, was in fact in the exact same place as the stone from my dream. So, I'm not superstitious, I am not, but weird things do happen. Later I found out that dreaming about a stone means nothing good for your health, that's pretty obvious, but also financial success. So let's stick to that. I will need it for the doctors. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License

    #111 LukeLikes「Quickly」

Luke Likes 'Quickly' Yeah, let's do it, quickly, quick - quickly. I am quick. Let's do it quickly. No time, no time to lose, no time to lose. So quickly, quickly, my father is the guy who walks very quickly, he walks very quickly and my neighbours noticed, so it means they saw, they noticed it very quickly. Yeah, he is quite known for that. Thanks to that, thanks to that, he can do things quickly, shopping for example. Carefully, carefully, carefully. Oh I know, you have to walk carefully right now because you might fall down. Yeah, there is a lot of snow and ice right now. So listen carefully, listen carefully and try to cross the street carefully. Alright? Oh, slow - slowly, slowly, slowly. I am speaking to you slowly, slowly so that you can follow what I am trying to say. And please repeat that slowly after me so that it will slowly get easier and easier. Hopefully, so I hope, hopefully, hopefully. Suddenly, sudden - suddenly, which means it is unexpected, unexpected. Like suddenly, he stopped talking. And suddenly, I understood, I understood. Suddenly, I realised what this episode is about. Good for you. And finally, finally... Badly, bad - badly, like today, today's game. Yeah, because the team played badly, horribly. They played awfully. Badly, horribly, awfully. And people start asking, hey, they don't get paid so badly, do they? Get paid badly, Yeah, they don't, they don't. Actually they get paid, 'goodly'? No, no, they get paid, well. Good - well. Can you see the difference? Because that's quite special. Yeah, we love special, I'm sure. Good - well. You speak English very well, I hope you see that, I hope you hear that. And you are doing, you are doing very well, so you are doing that without any problems, very well, Okay, so here's another one, a special one. Hard - 'hardly'? No, not really. For example, I work very hard. This job is very hard and I'm sure you are studying really hard. Late. That's an interesting one. I went to bed late and I got up late, not 'lately'. Unfortunately. Unfortunately my train didn't come late, yeah. Unfortunately, because I missed it. Fast - 'fastly'? Not really. I am not speaking very fast. You are a fast learner. You get things fast, so you understand things fast. And if you have a goal, and I'm sure you do, you will get there fast. So to recap, quick - quickly, bad - badly, sudden - suddenly, careful - carefully. Do you get it? But listen carefully, especially when it's hard, fast and late, and then you will do well. Enjoy! Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License

    #110 LukeLikes「Happy Old Year」

Luke Likes 'Happy Old Year' Happy, happy old year, and the new year too, obviously. Happy new year 2026. But was 2025 a happy year? Was it? I'm pretty sure it was, I hope it was, because I must say that I have asked this question, 'How was 2025 for you? How was it?' I have asked many people this question, and they all said it was pretty good. It was pretty good, or even awesome. It was awesome. Nobody even said, nobody, not even one person said that it was bad. So, my conclusion is, the next year is always, always better than the previous year. Is it logical? Not really, not really, it's not how it works. But let's say for a moment, let's say it is like that. And I hope it is, because it means that the next year, and the next one, and the next one, and every year to come is going to be even a little better than the previous, previous one. That would be great, that would be awesome. So I have asked this question, it's time for me to answer, I suppose. So 'hey, Luke, hey Luke, how was 2025 for you? How was it? Awesome?' If I am being honest, if I'm being honest with you, I'm not fond of, so I don't like, I am not fond of talking about the past. Looking back on what happened is just not my thing, I don't really know why, I usually don't do that. But alright, today I will give it a try, I will give it a go. So let's recap, recap. And now, let me think also. So when it comes to health, because this is what people wish other people, I mean staying in shape, to be in the best of health, to be in the best of health, well, that was overall, overall, so in general, overall very very good. Except for one occasion, but with the help of family and friends, I got over that, I got over, so I got better pretty quickly. And when it comes to work, yeah, that was a busy year, and I'm not sure if this is good or bad, because I do feel that I work a little too much. But I do enjoy that. So yeah, a very good year, a lot of work. Wow, I'm so happy, I didn't realise that the year 2025 was that successful, successful. Ok, and at home I did some small renovations and bought a few things, but I haven't finished yet, so I would say work in progress, could be a little better. And now, people and relationships. Well, like in life, I got along with some people, so I had a good relationship with some of them and my family members, but I could do a little better. Yeah, I have to admit, I have to be honest, I have to admit. Work in progress here too. Ok, and finally, goals, my goals. Well, I didn't make any resolutions back in 2025, but I was quite consistent, consistent, so I stuck to, I was consistent with what is important for me, so staying fit and keeping on studying languages, obviously. And I am very very satisfied with my results, well, I don't want to brag, I'm sorry, but I could see progress, And oh, I did start learning a new language, which is Portuguese. I love it, I'm excited, and I'm looking forward to 2026, the new language year. F For me, and for you as well. Keep up the good work. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License

    #109 LukeLikes「Repair」

Luke Likes 'Repair' Do you want to know the truth? The truth about the world and life? I will tell you. The truth is that things get broken. Get broken so they no longer work. Get broken. Hey, who did that? Who broke that? Not me, not me. So who did that? Just got broken. I had nothing to do with that. I had nothing to do. It got broken by itself. Yeah, let's go with that. Let's go with that. So things happen, things get broken. We can't do anything about it, can we? Definitely I can't. I can't do anything about it. I know nothing about repairing things or fixing things. So I just try and stay away from it. And, well, leave it to the pros. Leave it to the people that, well, they know what they are doing. The specialists, engineers, and craftsman, craftsman. And I am telling you all about that because the other day, so not a long time ago, the other day, I was preparing my meal, my evening meal on my stove, on my stove, so the place, the top that you prepare your meals on, and you can heat them. So while I was heating, I was heating my meal, it all went out, went out, so suddenly it stopped working. It is an electrical device, an appliance used in the kitchen so it needs electricity and suddenly it stoped working just like that. It got broken. Hey, I had nothing to do with that. I had nothing to do with it. Not my fault. So it all went out. And I couldn't turn it back on again. Turn it back on. Well, I tried a few things like restarting the device. This is basically all I could do. This is where my knowledge and skills end when things get broken. And well, the obvious step is for me to take it in for repair. And that would involve, that would mean, that would involve, well, a lot of time, and of course I would have to pay the costs of any repairs, because the stove is no longer under any guarantee. Unfortunately, obviously. So what can I do? What can I do? What can I do? Me? Nothing. My brother. Ha! He is the repairman in the family. He has always been. And it's so impressive to watch. It's like watching a magician. So he comes over to my place. Disconnects, disconnects the device and removes it, removes it from the top, because it is sort of built in the worktop. And then starts to dismantle, dismantle the device. So takes away all the bits and pieces step by step so that it is all like Lego bricks. Screw after screw, piece after piece. And it's so tiny. Oh my! Tiny and fragile. So you have to be careful not to break it. So he does all of that. And after around 2-3 hours we are in, we are in, and we can see it all, including the tiny little piece. The little bastard! That is all to blame. Yeah. So this little small piece is the culprit. The culprit, so somebody or something that is responsible, for all this mess. And that's a very impressive job that my brother did. And me?Well still nothing to do with that. I just hope to come back to cooking. And if next time something gets broken, my brother will definitely handle that, and find the culprit again. Because I had nothing to do with that. It's not me, obviously. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License

    #108 LukeLikes「Meet Adriana」

Luke Likes 'Meet Adriana' Oh, Adriana. Adriana. Meet Adriana. Do you know her? Do you know her, Adriana? You know, the flight attendant. Flight attendant. So, a person who helps you out on a plane, on a plane. A flight attendant. No, you don't? You don't know Adriana? You don't? Okay, I'm gonna be honest, I am gonna be honest with you, I don't know her either. I don't. But, but, she is gonna help us here. Not on a plane. But, to make a point. To make a point here. And, tell us, tell us a little story, a little story. Hope you enjoy it. So, let's start over. Let's start over. Meet Adriana. She is a flight attendant and she flies a plane, she flies a plane. She helps people feel comfortable on the flight and she often spends time in a cockpit. Maybe. Maybe that's true. Maybe not. Anyway, she flies a lot. And, she visits lots of places. Lots of interesting cities. So far, so far, she has visited LA. She has been to Mexico City and she has been to Rio. And, I'm sure she has seen many, many other cool cities around the world. So, she has visited lots of interesting cool places. In fact, she is on the plane right now. She is flying, she is flying. But, I don't know where. I don't know where. But, again, she is helping people around. And, making them comfortable during the flight. During the flight. For example. Oh, look at this man. He is sleeping right now. He is sleeping. He needs a blanket. How about I go and bring him a warm blanket. He is sleeping. Are you with me? Are you with me so far? I hope you are. So, as I said. As I said. Adriana has been to lots of places. But, she has never been, she has never been to New York. She hasn't been. So, one day, one day I'm sure, I'm sure she will fly to New York. That's her big dream. Maybe next year. Maybe this will be next year. Who knows? Who knows? Maybe she is going to, she is gonna, she is going to fly this big, big, huge jumbo jet. Have you ever flown this big thing? Have you? I haven't. Anyway. She is flying right now. Again, don't know where. She is flying and, in a moment, in a moment they will be flying over the mountains, they will be flying over the mountains. What a view! What a wonderful view of the mountains! Hope you can get a window seat. A window seat. So, Adriana is a young flight attendant. Because she finished, she finished an air training school three years ago, three years ago. So, she is gaining, gaining, so getting, gaining experience right now. She used to fly, she used to fly a different plane. And, well, people used to fly different planes, and, on one occasion, on one occasion while she was flying to Mexico, she was flying to Mexico, a funny thing happened. Because a man proposed to her! A man proposed to her on a plane. So, he wanted to marry her, while she was flying. Oh my goodness! She said no, she said no. So, that's an incredible situation. She has those from time to time. Like the other day, the other day, so not a long time ago, a passenger wanted to get on the plane, get on the plane. But, he didn't have a boarding car. He didn't. So, she said 'I would let you, I would let you in, I would let you in if you had a boarding car. Obviously, he didn't. So, he couldn't get on the plane. So, that's it. That's Adriana and her fascinating life story. And different, different situations she was in. Well, like you. Me and everyone. And, this is how you want to talk about it. So, go ahead and try. Well, it's your turn now. Embrace the day, people! ------------------------------------------- Intro/Outro Music By: Joakim Karud -Longing License:Creative Commons License
