At Central Baptist Church, our Family Ministry is dedicated to making disciples of Jesus Christ—from the womb to the empty nest.     Spiritual Formation Across Generations (Part 2)

    In this part two episode of Spiritual Formation on the Family, Coby sits down and continues the conversation with Larry Folden, Al Lambert, and Chesney Speaker in a deep and meaningful discussion on Spiritual Formation Across Generations. Together, they explore how different generations experience healing and growth — and how those experiences shape the way we process pain, faith, and community. From the old “rub some dirt on it and move on” mindset to recognizing the importance of taking time to heal, the discussion offers an honest look at what it means to grow through life’s struggles. They also reflect on the idea of vulnerability — how previous generations were often taught to stay strong and keep emotions private, and how learning to be open and honest with one another brings powerful healing within community. The group wrestles with important questions: What are we passing on to the next generation? What have we already passed on? Has the way our generation processes things affected the generation before us — and will it shape those who come after? Through real stories and honest reflection, they share wisdom, strengths, and lessons that bridge the gap between generations.

    Spiritual Formation Across Generations (Part 1)

    In this first part of a two-part conversation, Coby isn’t just hosting — he’s sharing his own story while sitting down with three guests from three different generations to talk about their spiritual formation. Larry Folden, a retired dentist and lifelong member of Central, was saved at a young age, but his spiritual formation really took shape later in life through the influence of a mentor. Al Lambert, 43, came to Christ later in life after years as an atheist. He shares how his spiritual formation began and what he does now to keep growing. Chesni Speaker, representing the college generation, reflects on growing up in Central’s student ministry and how that shaped her faith as a young adult. Together, they talk honestly about faith, growth, and how God shapes lives in every season.
