Rit Negi: Why Most Business Content Doesn't Work (And What Does)

Most business content doesn't work because it's playing by rules that don't actually apply anymore. In this episode, Roimata sits down with Rit Negi, founder of The Aspiring Founder, to break down what actually makes content perform, and what's just noise. Rit went from filming funny TikToks at his parents' dairy in Wellington (the first video hit 100,000 views) to running an agency creating short-form content for some of New Zealand's biggest retailers and corporate clients. He's seen what works up close, across dozens of brands and accounts. In this conversation, Rit shares why absurdity and having no rules to follow often outperforms polished, on-brand content, why forcing content into a formula is usually what kills it, and how to actually turn views into customers instead of just chasing reach. He also gets into why there's no single "right" platform, and why copying what's working for everyone else is usually the reason your own content stops working. Rit gives a practical, no-fluff look at what separates content that gets views from content that actually builds a business. Georgia Patten: What It Really Takes to Build a Brand in New Zealand

In this episode of The Morning Marketer we sit down with Georgia Patten, founder of Bored George, one of New Zealand's fastest-growing sunglasses brands. Georgia's journey started with a boring desk job managing physiotherapy clinics in Auckland, right after moving home from London. On the side, she began importing pre-designed sunglasses she'd collected from markets in Turkey and Morocco, selling them at local markets out of pure curiosity, not with any plan to build a company. Using what she learned from those early market stalls, she taught herself to design, found manufacturers who'd work through 100 back-and-forth messages to get a single detail right, and launched her first original styles with just 70 pairs per colourway. Today Bored George is stocked in more than 90 retailers across New Zealand and Australia, and Georgia made the call this year to pull out of wholesale entirely and go full e-commerce. In this conversation, Georgia shares why brand, not product, is the only thing that actually protects you from being copied, why she doubled down on marketing when other retailers cut back during downturns, and the exact dashboards she's built in Claude to track attribution across every platform. Georgia gives a candid, practical look at what it actually takes to go from a market stall to a multi-stockist retail brand, and proves that a business built without a plan can still become the plan. Te Kahukura Boynton: Her Millionaire Journey Before She Had Any Money

In this episode of The Morning Marketer we sit down with Te Kahukura Boynton, founder of Māori Millionaire and author of the first personal finance book written by a Māori author. Te Kahukura's journey started as a broke uni student at rock bottom, struggling with her mental health and unable to find any money content that felt relatable to Māori communities. Instead of waiting until she'd made it to start sharing, she decided to document the entire journey from day one, starting on 1 January 2022 as a New Year's resolution. Using her own story as the content, she built Māori Millionaire into a community of over 130,000 people across social media, wrote her bestselling book, and became a semi-finalist for Young New Zealander of the Year, all before turning 23. In this conversation, Te Kahukura shares why she believes discounting your voice is the same trap as discounting your product, the deep-rooted beliefs that stop wāhine Māori from stepping into business and money spaces, and why she chose to talk openly about addiction and trauma in a finance book when no one else in the space does. Te Kahukura gives a raw, honest look at what it actually takes to build in public from rock bottom, and proves that the most powerful platforms are built on the stories people are too scared to tell. How Josh Ryan Grew 100K+ YouTube Subscribers (Full Growth System)

In this episode of The Morning Marketer we sit down with Josh Ryan, founder of Cleverpreneur and a content creator with over 100K subscribers on YouTube. Josh's journey started in high school, back in 2014, when he set up an Instagram account posting motivational quotes just for fun. He got his first taste of influencer marketing when he asked a bigger account to shout him out and found out people were charging for it, and from there spent years learning how to grow social accounts from scratch. He finished high school in 2017 and started working with clients on Instagram growth the same year he launched his YouTube channel. Using eight years of trial and error, Josh built Cleverpreneur into an agency that helps podcasts and YouTube channels across New Zealand grow, handling everything from titles and thumbnails to full production and strategy. One client came to him with under 900 subscribers and is now sitting around 25,000, two years later. Today Josh is based in Auckland, splits his time between his own content and his clients', and has just crossed 100K subscribers on his own channel. In this conversation, Josh shares why trying to start perfect is what stops most people from starting at all, why he once posted the exact same video on two different platforms and got 2.4 million views on one and 25,000 on the other, and why nearly every client he's ever landed came through his own personal brand, not cold outreach. Josh gives a candid, practical look at what it actually takes to build a platform over the long term, and proves that consistency beats perfection every time. In this episode of The Morning Marketer we sit down with Kennedy Anderson, founder of The Whitening Co, one of New Zealand's most experienced brand builders. Kennedy's journey started at 15 with a photography business, he candidly shares how ten business ventures and countless lessons later, The Whitening Co came within seven days of insolvency after a single campaign sold out too fast. Using everything he learned running multiple companies and buying out the world's top-rated products just to study them, he built The Whitening Co into one of New Zealand's most talked-about oral care brands. In this conversation, Kennedy shares why he studies competitors instead of fearing them, why brand has to come before performance marketing, the real story behind the cash flow crisis that nearly ended The Whitening Co and the real funnel for marketing your business. Kennedy offers a refreshingly honest look at what it actually takes to build a product-based brand from zero, and gives founders a practical starting point for building something that lasts, not just something that sells.
