Talking Fear and Men with Jon Waller

Could being fired become your biggest breakthrough? Are you measuring your worth by your achievements? How do you help men move from fear to action? In this episode, I sit down with Jon Waller to explore how fear influences the way men see themselves and the choices they make. Jon shares the story of being fired from a job after speaking his mind—a moment that felt devastating at the time but ultimately gave him the freedom to pursue work that aligned with his values. We discuss how fear can keep us living someone else's narrative and why asking whose story we're following is often the first step toward meaningful change. We also dive into the way many men tie their self-worth to achievement. Jon explains why failure isn't proof of inadequacy but an opportunity to learn, grow, and adjust course. I share why I believe failure and learning are inseparable, and we discuss the importance of helping clients not only understand that truth intellectually but also experience it emotionally so they can let go of limiting beliefs. Finally, we talk about what helps men engage in therapy. Jon explains that many male clients benefit from practical, action-oriented strategies alongside emotional work. We explore how therapists can combine concrete tools with deeper self-reflection, helping men move from fear to action, build confidence, and create lasting change. Coming Home to Yourself: The Invisible Woman

In this episode, I explore the idea of "the invisible woman" and why so many women reach a point where they feel exhausted, disconnected, and unsure of who they are. Rather than asking, "What's wrong with me?" I encourage a more compassionate question: "What happened to me?" This shift replaces shame with understanding and helps uncover the deeper reasons behind burnout and feeling invisible. I explain that losing ourselves rarely happens because of one dramatic event. Instead, it is usually a gradual process of putting everyone else's needs first, taking on multiple roles, and slowly forgetting the person beneath them all. Over time, we can build a life that appears successful on the outside while feeling unfamiliar on the inside. I also discuss why so many intelligent, caring, and loving women lose touch with themselves, emphasizing that understanding our story is the first step toward healing. By asking, "What happened that made this response make sense?" we create space for self-compassion instead of self-judgment. However, understanding alone is not enough. It is the first step across the bridge back to ourselves, but real transformation begins when we choose to respond differently. Healing is built through small, everyday moments of practicing compassion toward ourselves. I close by encouraging listeners to treat themselves with the same kindness they so freely offer the people they love, because healing begins when we become gentler with ourselves. You Are Not Your Diagnosis with Diana Rice

Are you treating yourself like a diagnosis, or like a whole person? What becomes possible when you create safety before trying to create change? Could the way you begin your morning shape the way you experience the rest of your day? In this episode, I sit down with Diana Rice, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional, and founder of Through the Valley Therapy. Diana shares her holistic approach to helping people move through fear, regulate their nervous systems, and remember that they are more than any diagnosis they may carry. We explore why creating safety is often the first step toward meaningful change and how fear can keep us stuck when our minds and bodies are dysregulated. Diana explains how she combines approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and unconditional positive regard to help clients build resilience and healing. We also discuss the importance of separating your identity from a diagnosis. Diana shares why labels can be useful for accessing support and treatment, but should never define who you are as a person. Finally, she offers practical strategies for supporting your mental, physical, and spiritual well-being, including the simple but powerful practice of protecting your morning routine. Whether you're navigating anxiety, fear, or a season of personal growth, this conversation offers encouragement and practical tools to help you move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion.
