Really cool to hear such a seasoned veteran as Reed take on these topics that seem at once simple and complex. Super cool to hear the perspectives from his broad base of interviewees, and the tunes are also amazing. Highly recommend!

This podcast is essential listening for both musicians who want to get more out of their playing experience and for listeners who want to more clearly understand what improvising is and its benefits. It’s also highly entertaining - Reed’s enthusiasm and love for the form comes through in a truly genuine way and the way his guests are engaged (not just a standard Q&A) combined with the (sort of) soundtrack that “reveals” the complete tune at the end kept my complete attention from week to week. I’ve been raving about it to my musician friends since the first episode. Could we have another season?

Reed Mathis is among the most creative and prolific composers and players of music today. It is always a treat to listen to his projects and insights, which are always unique and brilliant and seem to be done with communicating love as the goal. This is a very well-done production which, after listening to all of them, confirms how lucky we are to have this musical explorer sharing where his search for the “source” has brought him and his friends to with Bill K & Bob Dylan. 1000% awesome, Reed, thank you!
