    Inside the SLCGOP Civil War: What You Need to Know!

    A FEUD inside the Salt Lake County Republican Party has exploded into one of the most contentious political disputes in Utah politics — and with the November elections approaching, can the SLCGOP put the fight behind it? Michael Clara joins Uriah Kennedy on the God and Country Podcast for an in-depth conversation examining the full story behind the SLCGOP dispute, the controversy surrounding Salt Lake County Republican Party Chair Mike Carey, and the group of party members that includes Tracie Halvorsen and Monica Wilbur. On August 19, 2026, Stuart Adams, Utah Senate President, made headlines across Utah after demand letters connected to statements from the June 28th God and Country Podcast became public. The story was first reported by the Salt Lake Tribune, followed by KSL News, before spreading across other news outlets throughout the state. Now, we tell the story from the beginning. In this episode, we once again sit down with Tina Cannon to walk through the timeline of what happened, how the demand letter was delivered, what it demanded, and our decision regarding retraction. At the center of the dispute are allegations involving statements that were characterized as defamatory and potentially constituting defamation of character. Rather than simply back down, we examine the claims point-by-point and return to the public record to ask a fundamental question: Were the statements actually false—or can they be supported by the evidence? THE CAPITAL ROTUNDA DISPUTE The story begins with an attempt involving Tina Cannon's office space, Suite 260 in the Capital Building and the Utah State Capitol Rotunda.
