Kate’s dad Bob (of the aforementioned shirt) was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease over 15 years ago, which kickstarted their family into teaming up with the Michael J. Fox foundation and helping to find a cure. From flying up and down the east coast, to taking charge and making semi-threatening phone calls, Kate has been “on” since her dad’s diagnosis, riding the adrenaline of anticipatory grief. By being given the “gift of goodbye,” Kate found ways to cope throughout her dad’s illness – skills that are still serving her since his death six months ago.
