DIS35- Beyond the Culture Wars: Seeing the Person Behind the Politics

Last week, we sat down with Gina Hinojosa, the Democratic candidate for Texas governor, and Lynn Davenport, a lifelong Republican, grassroots activist, and self-described MAGA mom from Dallas, Texas. What began as an interview with two women from different political worlds became something much bigger: a conversation about truth, freedom of speech, personal convictions, and the urgent need to hold our political leaders accountable. The mission behind this podcast is simple: to see people as people, not merely as political labels, party affiliations, or the roles others have assigned them. I believe that if we want to move forward as a society, we must be willing to listen to one another, understand why people believe what they believe, and find common ground where we can—even when we have legitimate disagreements. But finding common ground does not mean abandoning our principles. And respecting people does not mean excusing those in power from accountability. The truth is, our political system is broken, and it needs fixing. Texas has been under Republican leadership for more than three decades, and we have to be willing to ask some difficult questions: Are the people representing us delivering on their promises? Are our children and families truly a priority? Are we protecting the future of the next generation, or are we allowing political and economic elites to benefit while ordinary Texans bear the consequences? Our children deserve more than political talking points. They deserve a future built on opportunity, freedom, and the ability to live in a society where their voices matter—not one where their futures are treated as bargaining chips for the powerful. As a conservative and a sincere follower of Jesus Christ, I believe standing for what is right and true sometimes means standing alone. It means having the courage to question your own side, challenge the people you once trusted, and speak up even when your convictions are unpopular. That is also why I believe the radical name-calling and hostility that have become so common in our political conversations have no place in a healthy society. We can disagree without dehumanizing one another. We can challenge ideas without attacking someone's worth as a human being. And above all, we must demand accountability—regardless of party, position, or political allegiance. This conversation was about who truly runs our state. It was about looking beyond the political narratives and recognizing the human being behind the label. It was about a woman who has come to recognize how political forces can use people, their convictions, and their loyalty to advance an agenda that may not ultimately serve them. It was an opportunity to step outside the familiar battle lines and ask a bigger question: What if the political divisions keeping us at odds are also distracting us from the people and systems that should be held accountable? Too often, political elites benefit when we are fighting one another instead of asking questions, examining the evidence, and doing our own independent research. We have become so focused on defending our team that we stopped examining whether the people representing us are actually living up to the values and standards they claim to defend. It's time to connect the dots. It's time to question the narratives. And it's time to look beyond the culture wars. We don't have to agree on everything to recognize that our country and our communities deserve better. We don't have to abandon our beliefs to listen with an open mind. And we should never be so loyal to a political party that we stop holding its leaders accountable. My hope is that this conversation challenges you to think more deeply, ask better questions, and see people through a different lens. Not as Democrats or Republicans. Not as MAGA or anti-MAGA. But as human beings who share a future, even when we disagree about how to build it. Because real change doesn't begin when everyone agrees. It begins when we have the courage to listen, the wisdom to question, and the conviction to hold those in power accountable. So step away from the culture wars for a moment, open your mind, and join us for this important conversation. Let's look beyond the labels—and start talking about what really matters.

DIS33- What the State Auditor Found at the Texas Education Agency

This week we dig into something that should make every Texas parent, taxpayer, and lawmaker sit up straight. In this important interview, Jackie Besinger goes straight to the heart of the corruption facing Texas, unpacking the Texas Education Agency's recent audit and the serious issues it exposes. Joining her is Lynn Davenport, a dedicated grassroots mother and education policy analyst who has long tracked the lack of political accountability and media silence surrounding the problems that truly matter in our state. Together they break down the findings, the key players behind them, and why these failures continue to go unchallenged. The State Auditor's Office just dropped its August 2026 report on the Texas Education Agency — Report 26-034. But then the real story emerges. Nearly $1.9 billion in state-funded grants went out the door with no minimum monitoring standards. Different departments set their own rules. When auditors tested 59 of those grants worth $571 million, critical performance records were missing, some statutory 'pass-through' grants received zero to almost no oversight, and digital signatures of former employees were still rubber-stamping approvals because no one had bothered to retire them. Even more troubling: TEA issued minimal guidance for public-private pre-kindergarten partnerships… then never verified that a single private provider actually met state licensing, accreditation, or classroom requirements. Of the applications they sampled, thirteen involved private providers. Zero verification. And while classrooms face teacher shortages and tight budgets, TEA's management ranks exploded — one manager for every 3.5 staff, far above the legal requirement of one-to-eleven. Management headcount grew 38 percent while non-management grew only 12. Management salaries jumped 64 percent. So the question isn't whether the money was stolen. The question is whether hundreds of millions in education dollars are actually producing results, or simply disappearing into a system that can't prove it. Long-term issues  •  Grant monitoring gaps create ongoing risk that hundreds of millions in state education dollars produce weak or unmeasurable results. Without consistent performance tracking, ineffective programs can continue year after year, eroding both fiscal accountability and public trust in how education funds are spent. •  Pre-K partnership blind spots Substandard private providers can operate for years, affecting early childhood outcomes for the youngest students with the longest developmental runway.  •  Management-heavy structure locks in higher long-term administrative overhead. Dollars that could support classrooms, teachers, or direct student programs instead fund a denser layer of managers. Even if the LBB grants a waiver, the cost differential versus peer agencies continues. Forced restructuring later would be more disruptive than gradual correction now. That's what we're unpacking today.

DIS31 - The Hidden Origins of Texas's Challenges - DIScourse

In this important interview, Jackie Besinger delves into the heart of the challenges facing Texas, highlighting the poignant experiences of Lynn Davenport, a dedicated grassroots mother and education policy analyst who was deeply impacted by the lack of political accountability and media support more than a decade ago. During a recent interview with Steve Bannon and Lynn Davenport, many parents were introduced to the pressing challenges supposedly currently besieging our state. However, Bannon's approach seemed to sidestep the essential roots of these problems, offering little more than evasive rhetoric instead of tangible discussion. This led the conversation to veer into a troubling celebration of deceit and insincerity. As Texans watched the dialogue unfold, their curiosity grew regarding the deeper issues being obscured by distractions, issues that have long allowed corrupt politicians, grassroots media, bottom feeders, and oligarchs to remain insulated from scrutiny and consequences. During the discussion with Steve Bannon and Lynn Davenport, three main problems were highlighted: property taxes, border control, and the privatization of education. The latter, we believe, merits further emphasis, especially regarding initiatives that divert taxpayer funds to private entities in Texas. This conversation encompasses the controversial voucher system by the so-called socialist fake Republicans, which is now benefiting more foreign interests and ideologies.  When national media contacts local parents, grassroots organizations, or politicians, it highlights serious concerns regarding critical questions that often remain unasked and essential solutions that go unaddressed; those fighting against the propaganda understand this better. This negligence in speaking about facts and the root causes of the problem not only fosters a divisive atmosphere but also keeps the public uninformed and oblivious, while more insidious practices thrive unchecked. This urgency prompted the interview, highlighting the need to scrutinize the inherent flaws in the voucher system and the true motivations driving its adoption. Alarmingly, the interconnections between school bonds and privately owned charter schools unveil a disturbing relationship with third-party vendors, such as real estate public-private partnerships, which siphon taxpayer money for their own gain.  Furthermore, the significance of the Texas Education Agency cannot be overlooked, as it is deeply intertwined with the influence of mega donors involved in real estate and technology, who exercise considerable control over the political establishment. These interrelationships demand thorough examination, as they highlight a troubling trend toward the deliberate undermining of public education. In this insightful episode of DIScourse, Jackie Besinger and Lynn Davenport tackle the often-ignored solutions within public education, drawing on Lynn Davenport's extensive experience in advocacy and research spanning over a decade. They focus the discussion on the crucial actions of accountability, transparency, and genuine educational reform, calling for a shift from mere rhetoric to actionable solutions that enhance our educational system instead of detracting from it. By emphasizing concrete policy changes and building a culture of trust, their goal is to inspire significant changes that resonate within communities and empower the next generation to succeed. DIS26-LJ Francis aka Larijai DuPatrick Francis, Unraveling the Threads of Deception: The Intricate Ties Between the Republican Party, a Texas Church, and a Troubled Marriage

⚠️ Warning: The following episode in this explosive series exposes the deep-rooted corruption and manipulation within the Republican Party, the church, and pretender conservatives. Due to the disturbing content and mature themes uncovered, viewer discretion is strongly advised. These revelations are not suitable for young audiences — adult supervision is strongly recommended. Larijai DuPatrick Francis, known as LJ Francis, portrays himself as a stalwart married family man and devout conservative; however, beneath this carefully crafted façade lies a troubling reality. After 11 years of marriage and 3 years as an active member of the Republican Party, he faces exposure for his homosexual behavior and addiction to pornography, casting doubt on the integrity of not only his personal life but also the principles of the party he represents. His history includes a prior marriage in Florida that he has kept hidden from his constituents, raising serious questions about his honesty and authenticity. The men of the Republican Party, including LJ Francis, are not the principled leaders they claim to be, undermining the very values they vow to uphold. His biography on the state board of education and TEA website paints a picture of a man celebrated for big accomplishments and conservative values. "LJ is a dedicated family man to his wife and their son, and they are members of Calvary Chapel of the Coastlands Church. Recently, LJ has joined the ranks of small business owners in Texas as Principal of his public benefit firm, Francis & Francis Engineering, PLLC, poised to be a premier project management firm in the State of Texas delivering public benefit solutions." However, this façade crumbles beneath the weight of truth; the reality is that his constituents are clueless, and his church embodies the very corruption that undermines our education and religious institutions. In this intense episode of DIScourse, we confront the unsettling story through the voice of his wife, who reveals a harrowing account that is difficult to bear. Join Andrea Frances in this episode of DIScourse for this necessary conversation as we strive to expose the deceitful tactics that perpetuate a web of lies and hinder the advancement of genuine integrity in our already fractured political landscape. It is time to make our public representatives accountable for their actions; the future of Texas children deserves better. DIScourse25: The Texas Political Machine: Ideological Control Through the New Apostolic Reformation and the Seven Mountain Mandate

Texas has long been a battleground for ideological control, dominated by an entrenched oligarchy that orchestrates a political machine fueled by both far-left and far-right extremist ideological views. This union of billionaire elites is determined to secure their taxpayer-funded government contracts while imposing their dystopian ideological and religious beliefs on our children and grandchildren. The individuals driving this agenda cannot truly be labeled as conservatives or Christians; their motivations transcend traditional political boundaries. Join Alice Linahan and Jackie Besinger as they delve into this critical dialogue about the future of our children and the generations to come. As true conservative Christians, we are called to stand firm in our faith and protect our children from influences that seek to impose foreign ideologies upon our cherished values and beliefs. Under the guise of "parental empowerment," "faith," and "freedom," we must ask ourselves: what is happening when our rights are being undermined? This situation, as highlighted by Alice, is not the Gospel we aspire to follow; it represents a political machine that prioritizes power over our spiritual integrity. Texans need to understand who these players behind this agenda are, including figures from the billionaire class such as Texas elite Tim Dunn, as well as the satanic preachers within the New Apostolic Reformation network and their 7 Mountain Mandate, like Paula White, who shape narratives that do not align with our values, beliefs, and the Bible. Alice Linahan is a politically active Texas mom who has worked hard in the trenches of the grassroots movement. As an established leader in new media with Voices Empower and as Vice President of Women on the Wall, Alice brings audiences a servant's voice with a heartfelt, funny tone, and when truth needs to be told in a bold, fresh manner, Alice can deliver. Join Jackie Besinger in this crucial conversation, where we explore the metaphor of being the frog in the pot, highlighting how gradual change can lead us to overlook the urgency of our circumstances. DIS24-Proposition 15 (SJR 34): Codifying parental rights- DIScourse

In this episode of DIScourse, we delve into a critical discussion with FBC Senior Pastor Zach Poling and Brian Roberts from Grayson County Conservatives, as they explain key biblical principles and highlight alarming red flags in our legislation. Central to our talk is Proposition 15 (SJR 34), which threatens to undermine our parental rights by presenting a guise of protection through the Texas legislature—a deceptive ploy designed to relinquish our God-given rights to government oversight. While parental rights are already robustly safeguarded by established federal case law and state statutes, particularly within the Texas Family Code and Education Code, the current political landscape reveals a disturbing pattern where our rights are at risk of being usurped by those lacking values and integrity. It is imperative to recognize this moment as an important juncture; we must cultivate skepticism towards our political system, scrutinize the motives behind proposed legislation, and hold accountable those jeopardizing our families and education. A closer inspection of the financial connections between billionaires, politicians, lobbyists, and PACs reveals a concerning trajectory tied directly to Proposition 15, which seeks to exploit our parental rights through a cunning bait-and-switch. The proposition language may seem appealing at first, emphasizing the widely accepted value of parental rights, yet it cleverly obscures the true implications of the amendment that follows. This amendment threatens to redefine parental responsibilities by intertwining them with governmental oversight, making parents accountable to the state for vague obligations to "protect" and "nurture." Such legally ambiguous terms leave room for interpretation that will in time infringe upon our God-given parental rights, transforming them from inherent rights into privileges conditional upon government approval. It is alarming that many PACs and lobbying groups, often backed by wealthy donors, encourage surrendering these essential rights. Texas: before supporting Proposition 15, consider whether you can fully trust the amendment's language not to be weaponized against parents. Remember, the future of parental autonomy in Texas hinges on your decision; voting AGAINST Proposition 15 is a stand for safeguarding your family's fundamental rights.  Join Jackie Besinger in this crucial conversation, where we explore the metaphor of being the frog in the pot, highlighting how gradual change can lead us to overlook the urgency of our circumstances.
