    Encore BACKFENCE Unhinged: Aaron Draplin

ENCORE: AARON DRAPLIN Designer Aaron Draplin takes us on a GEN X tour of the skate punk and snowboarding world of his youth. Where zines ruled the day and skateboarders were total outsiders. Are there mentions of Dinosaur Jr.? Yes. Is there a caper involving fast food and the retrieval of skateboards from a boss's office? Yes. Is there a lot of fun, wisdom dropped, and the sweet follies of grunge? Hell yes! Aaron entered the world in Detroit, Michigan—and skipping ahead a bit in 2004 founded the design company that he runs today, Draplin Design Co. After a bunch of years at Showboard magazine he quickly moved from designing graphics for snowboards to creating icons for multinational companies. He travels the world as a speaker bringing his hilarity and skills to the masses.  BACKFENCE Unhinged is a 29-minute podcast hosted by Andrew Dickson and Frayn Masters, two people you'd actually enjoy being stuck in an elevator with. The elevator stops on a different floor every week and a guest steps on with a delightfully unhinged story.  This episode was edited and produced by Julia Oppenheimer. With music created by musician and frontman for Lost Lander, Matt Sheehy. Frayn Masters is executive producer. Frayn Masters & Andrew Dickson are co-hosts and co-creators. The show was recorded at XRAY.fm — find them online or 91.1 or 107.1.
