How to Find Purpose During the Darkest Times of Life #patriot #purpose #veteran #hope #resilient

He was deployed to the Middle East and the wounded with severe injuries.  What followed was a journey of physical, emotional, and spiritual battles...suicidal at times.  But a fly fishing trip changed the life of Lew Duckwall, and he tells us how he is pouring into lives of other veterans and first responders on this episode. Lew is a retired combat Veteran, Purple Heart recipient and is the founder of North Texas Patriot Anglers.  He has been an avid fly fisherman since his youth in upstate New York.  Lew started North Texas Patriot Anglers in 2013 as a healing journey for himself and a few friends, never dreaming it would grow into what it is today.  He deployed to the Middle East in 2002 as part of the eliete Red Horse combat engineer unit, a group had many great accomplishments in that war zone.  Just prior to Thanksgiving 2002, on a Top Secret mission to build a two-story building, Lew was involved in a serious injury during the construction.  He talks about how that moment and what was to follow would change his life and his purpose forever. Through one-on-one guided fly-fishing outings, North Texas Patriot Anglers attempts to increase Veterans well-being, renew their sense of camaraderie, and enhance their desire to move forward with their healing process. To date, NTPA has assisted more than 3,200 Veterans, provided more than 60,000 volunteer hours, and conducted almost 30 annual trips. Lew is married to retired CMSGT Nicole Duckwall, a Veteran of both Irag and Afghanistan.

How to Chase Your Dream of Becoming a Book Author #author #fantasyfiction #imagination #escapism

She is a fantasy fiction author, inspired by "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Chronicles of Narnia." Author Ashley Frerking has written a lineage series with characters based partly on her own life.  She takes us on a fantasy journey of escapism and imagination in this episode. Ashley grew up in her early years in Kenya as the daughter of missionary parents. After graduating high school, she moved back to the United States and earned her degree in English from Dallas Baptist University and, some years later, a master's degree in Scriptwriting from Regent University. I've always loved reading fantasy and I wanted to see if I could create a world of fantasy too," Ashley says. "I take inspiration from "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Chronicles of Narnia." These ideas have been bouncing around in my head for a while, so it's fun to see them come to life on the page. I also like imagining myself in the world of Amaranaca, so it's easier to visualize." The first two books in this lineage series are "The Queen's Road" and "The Traveler."  The third book in the series, "The Bodyguard's Princess" is coming in October 2026. "The Queen’s Road" is the first book in the Lineage Series. Melinda's life is turned upside down upon the arrival of Nathan. Transported to the land of Amaranaca, Melinda joins the Army of the Faithful, whose aim is to aid her in reclaiming her throne from Kelam the usurper. Will she be victorious, or is Amaranaca doomed to Kelam's reign? "The Traveler" is the second book in the Lineage Series. Tura Saurbrook embarks on a quest for revenge and happens upon two elves on their way to join the army faithful to the true king. Tura struggles to keep her true identity hidden. Unbeknownst to her, the two elves hold an explosive secret themselves.

    How to have A Servant's Heart for Kids & Seniors #servant #purpose #kids #seniors

Her personality makes her perfect to be a community ambassador...which she is!  She has a heart to support and encourage kids through her very first children's book, "Lulu the Dung Beetle - In Search of the Perfect Poop! That's Bananas!"  She also has a passion for our aging seniors as they navigate difficult decisions late in life.  In this episode, Tanya Blixt talks about her life experiences have led to a life of serving. Tanya is a Texas-based author publishing her debut book, the first in a children’s book series.  She is a lover of dogs and rescues any that come her way.  Currently, she has five dogs: Jack, Sugar, Cookie, Thumper, and Willie and two cats named Michi and Saki.  Tanya graduated from Denton (TX) High School and the University of North Texas, earning a Bachelors degree at UNT in Hotel & Restaurant Management.  After college, she worked in California at a country club. Tanya currently works in the healthcare industry as Executive Patient Administrator for a 22 year old family-owned and operated in-home Senior care service based out of Denton. The organization specializes in 24-hour live-in as well as hourly care wherever their home might be located. Tanya is making her debut as a children’s book author.  An avid volunteer in the community, she is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She believes in the importance of kids smiling, laughing, and learning. With that in mind, and with this initial series of books, that is exactly what she hopes to deliver to readers. The books are a fun way to combine learning about nutrition, while at the same time creating real recipes and making tasty edible “poop treats” that children will love to share with their family and friends.  Let’s face it….kids just like to talk about poop!  You know it is true!  That is just the way it is with kids.   In her debut book, Tanya portrays how Lulu, the central character, introduces readers to many different kinds of animal poop by taking the reader on an adventure and meeting new animal friends. Lulu and Niko, her sickly brother, secretly eat the treats, and then something magical happens!  Niko becomes healthy by eating the variety of nutrients.  Giggles will happen as kids share their poop treats!
