The Overshoot Conference Podcast

Kurzschlussredaktion OG and International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA)

The second Overshoot Conference will take place on 24–25 November 2026 at Tsinghua University in Beijing, co-organised by Tsinghua University and IIASA. Building on the first edition in Laxenburg, Austria, in 2025, it brings together leading experts, policymakers and stakeholders from China and around the world to examine climate overshoot from a broad range of perspectives. With temporarily exceeding 1.5°C now increasingly likely, understanding the risks of overshoot, and how to limit its peak and duration, has never been more urgent. This podcast series by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) explores the challenges, trade-offs and opportunities involved in tackling overshoot. The first nine episodes previewed the themes of the 2025 conference. The new episodes look ahead to Beijing, with the conference chairs and theme chairs sharing insights from their fields and introducing the questions that will shape discussions at this year's conference.
