#31: Digital Detox For Real Life: How Families Reclaim Calm From Screen Overload with Alicia Collette

A child hands you your phone and suddenly you realize it is not just a tool, it is part of how your family sees you. That moment sits at the center of my conversation with Alicia, a mental health professional and digital detox coach with 14+ years of experience helping families rebuild peace and connection. We talk about the quiet “slow drip” of screens and notifications into everyday life, and why so many homes feel full on paper but restless in the soul. We get practical about what’s happening in kids’ brains and bodies when screen time ramps up. Alicia explains how constant stimulation and dopamine loops can make the transition off a screen feel like a withdrawal, showing up as meltdowns, irritability, and poor emotional regulation. We also name what often gets missed: kids don’t just learn from what we allow them to watch, they learn from how we, as parents, use our own devices. If we want calmer kids, we have to start by reclaiming our attention. From there, we shift into real solutions that work in real life: device-free dinners, quiet mornings, reducing notifications, building “anchors” in your day, and setting boundaries with work messages without living in the apology and explanation cycle. We also go deeper into stillness, faith, and identity, because a meaningful life requires space to listen, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most. If you’re ready to make a small change that creates a big ripple, press play, then share this with a parent who needs hope. #30: Return to the Source: Finding Peace, Purpose, and God’s Presence in a Noisy World with Jolien Sterre

A busy schedule can look fine on the outside while your mind feels like it never stops. When that “fog” rolls in, the instinct is to push harder, scroll longer, or search for the next solution. We go the other way and it is surprisingly practical: slow down, get honest, and return to the Source. I’m joined by Jolien Sterre, a worship leader and songwriter calling in from the Netherlands. We met years ago around World Youth Day, and reconnecting now feels like a reminder that calling does not have to be loud to be real. Jolien shares how she learned to guard her time with Jesus, how Scripture and prayer help her trace restlessness back to what needs attention, and why “quiet time” is often more relational than quiet. We also talk about humility, surrender, and the steady confidence that grows when you stop chasing answers externally and start listening again. Then we move into music, vocation, and spiritual freedom. Jolien opens up about the fragility of singing under judgment, the moment she knew worship leading was her true calling, and how His Voice Music grew out of simple obedience. You’ll hear a powerful story of a night where the set list changed, a broken heart returned to God, and worship became a space for healing, deliverance, and joy. We also reflect on grief, forgiveness, and what it means to choose love over fear when the world feels shaky. Jolene closes by singing “Reckless Love,” and it lands like a quiet blessing. If you’ve been feeling stretched, distracted, or spiritually dry, press play and take a breath with us. #29: Regulate Your Nervous System: Simple Practices to Calm Your Body and Mind with Dr. Rochelle Vogt, Ph.D.

Fear is loud, fast, and contagious and our bodies are paying the price. If you’ve been waking up anxious, feeling wired but exhausted, or wondering why you’re suddenly more reactive than you used to be, you’re not alone. I’m joined by Dr. Rochelle “Dr. Roe” Vogt, a mindfulness researcher and trauma resolution specialist, to name what’s happening underneath the surface: nervous system dysregulation in a world built on urgency, overstimulation, and constant input. We get practical about the first five minutes of the day, especially for midlife women navigating sleep disruption, hormonal shifts, and that early-morning cortisol surge. We also talk about how reaching for your phone, scrolling headlines, and living on notifications can kick your brain straight into threat mode, and how a tiny pause can move you back toward clarity, choice, and steadiness. Dr. Roe shares simple tools you can actually use: self-touch and havening-style brushing, visualization you can speak out loud, breathwork, tapping, humming, cold water on the face, and other vagus nerve practices that tell the body “you are safe.” We also go deeper into the bigger theme: the nervous system as a portal that filters your relationships, identity, and spiritual life. When we stay in survival mode too long, we eventually hit a wall, but we’re not stuck there. We explore boundaries as a health intervention, the shift from fear to faith, hope, and love, and how regulated people become quiet leaders in their homes and communities. If you want a gentle next step, try the Fog to Freedom grounding exercise and check out Dr. Roe’s free “Healing Power of Presence” guide. Subscribe, share this with someone who feels maxed out, and leave a review so more people can find tools for nervous system regulation and trauma healing. #28: What If Uncertainty Is Your Freedom?: How Stillness Helps You Leave A Life That No Longer Fits with Chalene MacLeod

Your days can be full and still feel misaligned. That tension is what we’re naming out loud today: the quiet sense that the life you built no longer fits the person you’re becoming, and the fear that changing course means blowing everything up.  I’m joined by Chalene MacLeod, a business coach and mom of three who helps awake, purpose-driven women step away from the traditional nine-to-five track and build online coaching businesses rooted in freedom and values. We talk about the pressure to “pick a path” early, the guilt of not using a degree the way you planned, and how motherhood can reshape your priorities in ways nobody warned you about. Chalene shares the real-life logistics behind the dream, including money stress, daycare decisions, and the loyalty that can keep you tied to underpaying work long after you’ve outgrown it.  We also get honest about uncertainty. A family health crisis shattered the illusion of security and forced a deeper question: if no path is guaranteed, why not choose the one that’s aligned? You’ll hear practical insight on getting quiet, naming the voices that aren’t yours, and making identity shifts that let you lead, sell, and show up before you feel ready. If you’ve been craving calm, connection, intentional living, and a more meaningful way forward, this conversation will meet you there.  If it resonates, subscribe, share it with a friend who needs a breath of clarity, and leave a review so more people can find the Be Still Movement. #27: Rewire Your Stress: How to Regulate Your Nervous System with EFT with Sophia Torrini

Stress can look like productivity while your nervous system is quietly waving a red flag. If you’ve ever thought, “I’m functioning, so I should be fine,” yet you feel wired, exhausted, reactive, or stuck in a loop of scrolling and pushing through, this conversation offers a different explanation and a real path forward. I’m joined by Sophia Torini, a neuroscience based emotional rewiring expert trained in clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques), nervous system regulation, and identity work. We talk about how unresolved emotions can show up as physical symptoms, why your body can hold onto stress chemistry long after you stop thinking about the event, and how dysregulation can masquerade as personality. Sophia breaks down what evidence based EFT tapping actually is, why the body responds to the physical cues of tapping and breath, and how you can work with emotion without reliving the full trauma story. We also dig into modern stress patterns that hit high achievers hard: constant alerts, morning phone habits, and the cultural belief that rest must be earned. You’ll hear practical tools for body scanning, breathwork to calm the autonomic nervous system, and why HRV matters for resilience. Then we widen the lens into identity rewiring: changing how you think, act, and feel, repairing shame after setbacks, and becoming a more regulated version of yourself through small, consistent shifts in safety. If you want a gentle reset, I also share Fog to Freedom, a short grounding exercise you can return to anytime the noise builds. #26: Not Broken, Just Depleted: 5 Human Needs That Restore Energy and Emotional Health with Dr. Matthew Campbell

If you’ve been telling yourself you’re failing, falling behind, or somehow “too much,” consider a different diagnosis: you might not be broken, you might be depleted. That one reframe changes everything, because depletion is fixable, and it doesn’t require extremes or perfection to turn around. We sit down with Dr. Matthew Campbell, a clinical psychologist and co-author of Our Primal Five, to talk about what he sees constantly in therapy: people arriving exhausted because the fundamentals of being human have quietly slipped. We unpack how overstimulation affects the nervous system, why modern convenience pushes us toward short-term dopamine, and how choice overload can keep feelings in the driver’s seat. Then we return to the five essentials that restore emotional peace and energy: sleep hygiene, sunlight exposure, movement and exercise, meaningful social connection in the middle of the loneliness epidemic, and mindful consumption of both food and media. We also dig into the mindset that makes change sustainable. We talk about routines that reduce decision fatigue, “discipline” as a learnable skill instead of a character label, and grace as understanding rather than self-approval. If shame has been your main motivator, you’ll hear why it fails, and what works better: small, consistent improvement that you can actually repeat. Listen, then take one steady step this week. Subscribe, share this with someone who feels stretched thin, and leave a review so more people can find a calmer and more meaningful way forward. #25: Executive Burnout & Chronic Stress: The Hidden Cost of a Dysregulated Nervous System with Simon Luthi

Your calendar can be packed and your life can still feel strangely thin. We’re surrounded by speed, noise, and nonstop inputs, yet our bodies are wired with a Stone Age nervous system that reads a tense email like a life-or-death threat. When that stress becomes chronic, it doesn’t just steal peace; it steals clarity, health, and the ability to lead well. We’re joined by Simone Luti, best-selling author and former corporate executive also known as the Rocket Shaman. Simone shares how burnout, a mystery illness, and later cancer forced an unwanted season of stillness and ultimately revealed a deeper issue: identity misalignment. We talk about why constant stimulation fragments the nervous system, how “tiger or Tuesday” shows up in real physiology, and why coherence can become a true edge in an AI-driven world. From hummingbird moments that invite playfulness to the intensity of a 10-day Vipassana silent retreat, Simone explains how stillness brings insight when we stop drowning it out. We also get practical with nervous system regulation, including heart-centered breathing, gratitude-based emotional shifts, and how to move from reacting to responding at home, at work, and in leadership. If you’re navigating executive burnout, chronic stress, anxiety, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, this conversation offers grounded tools and a hopeful path back to wholeness. #24: Create More, Consume Less: Reclaim Creativity Through Stillness and Boredom with Devorah Brinckerhoff

Your days can be packed and still feel oddly empty. That’s the paradox we sit with today: we live in a world that constantly asks us to consume, but rarely invites us to create. When we lose our connection to creativity, we don’t just drop a hobby, we lose access to a part of ourselves that knows how to heal, adapt, and feel alive. I’m joined by Devorah Brinckerhoff, a mixed media artist and transformational guide behind Soul Portraits, a healing methodology that uses art as a pathway back to authenticity. Together we talk about why creativity isn’t reserved for “artistic” people, how constant scrolling and oversaturation disconnect us from our inner wisdom, and what can happen when we finally slow down. We unpack the fear many of us feel around silence and stillness, and how creative practice can dissolve limiting beliefs, loosen false identities, and rebuild self-trust from the inside out. We also go deep on the sacredness of boredom, especially for children. Overscheduling, screens, and performance pressure can steal the very conditions kids need for imagination, resilience, and healthy risk-taking. We share practical ways to protect unstructured time, create a contained space for mess, and invite creativity into everyday rhythms like cooking, movement, and home life. If you’ve ever said “I’m not creative” or you feel over-stimulated and disconnected, this conversation offers a gentle, grounded way back.
