    S1 E10 | Three Babbling Brooks

As a special treat for the Season One Finale of The Self Led Besties Podcast...we decided to be on camera (on the YouTube version at least)!!! Whenever Hallie and Christine would have "babbling parts," David would graciously call them "babbling brooks," so we decided to call this episode "Three Babbling Brooks." David begins by telling about what has been alive in him lately - pondering the nature of vulnerable, wounded parts and the various layers around them. From there, we talk about how wounding happens from the inside out and healing occurs as Self brings loving attention to all the layers from the outside in. As Hallie says, "We've been on the Needs Bus lately," so of course we also bring in how unmet needs relate to wounds and burdened parts. Join us in this silly and serious discussion, and as always, please share any questions or resonance in the comments section below. 0:02 Introduction and Season Finale Announcement0:42 Theme Song and Lip Sync2:51 Discussion on Authenticity and Voice Messages4:10 David's Introduction to Wounding and Healing5:20 Emotional Beliefs and Protective Parts7:44 Healing Process and Self-Energy10:26 Visual and Somatic Components in Healing13:41 Christine and Hallie's Observations on Protective Parts16:32 Self-Energy and Integration34:38 Exploring Needs and Burdening39:18 Healing and Meeting Needs54:28 Personal Reflections on the Season61:29 Upcoming Projects and Workshops Follow us on IG! the pod: @selfledbestiespod Christine: @the_ordinary_sacred David: @ifs_awakening Hallie: @wiseinside.coaching

    S1 E9 | Activity: Wheel of Needs

In this episode, Hallie leads David and Christine through a beautiful exercise piggy backing off of the needs exercise from last episode (though this can also be used as a stand alone exercise). Hallie explains why it so important to connect to our needs and how the world might be a more supportive place to live if we all valued needs. Then, after a short "coming into presence" moment, Hallie guides us (and you) through rating each of the needs based first on our body compass then letting parts express whatever comes up for them. After getting an overall rating for how well our nine universal needs are met in this chapter of our lives, Hallie guides us in exploring how our highest and lowest rated needs could be met by Self, Support (from another person), and the Strategies our parts use to get Supply. This exercise has the potential to bring so much clarity, compassion, and creativity into our systems. Please feel free to follow along or just listen, and we'd love to hear how the exercise was for you in the comment section below. 0:00 Intro0:10 Theme Song0:36 Exercise Introduction1:48 Exercise Overview3:58 Coming Into Presence7:28 The 9 Universal Human Needs15:35 The Wheel Of Needs20:11 Rating Our Needs22:02 The Need for Safety24:59 The Need for Sustenance26:50 The Need For Rest29:22 The Need For Love30:49 The Need For Understanding32:32 The Need For Belonging35:03 The Need For Purpose36:46 The Need For Creativity39:19 The Need For Freedom41:36 Calculating Our Needs Percentage44:00 Percentage Indicators46:38 Strategy Overview52:40 The Importance Of Authenticity57:24 Lowest & Highest Scores58:41 Highest Scoring Need59:53 Highest Score Strategies1:01:31 Lowest Scoring Need1:02:16 Lowest Score Strategies1:04:21 New Strategies For Lowest Score?1:08:13 Invitation To Further Exploration1:11:02 Christine's Experience1:23:52 David's Experience1:30:21 Closing & Goodbyes1:32:00 Theme Song1:33:03 Like & Subscribe

S1 E7 | Parts Chat: Who is the Healer in an IFS Session?

In this episode of the Self Led Besties Podcast, Christine, Hallie and David speak for their active parts around the exclusion of non therapists from the IFSI training (yes, we still have parts processing the decision made 2 1/2 years ago!). We reference an article entitled "The Ethics of Using IFS in Coaching." Here is the link, if you'd like to read the article yourself: https://www.compassionateresultscoaching.com/blog/ethics-of-ifs-coaching A main point in the article is that IFS is unique in its understanding that it is NOT the practitioner but the client's Self who is the healing agent in their system. So the question is NOT "Who is allowed to facilitate IFS?", but "Who does IFS assert is the healer?" We discuss our distress over the conflict between therapists and non-therapists created by the exclusion and our desire to be united in the unique hope of IFS. We also discuss how much of mainstream therapy can end up reinforcing client's core wounds such as, "I am helpless," "something is wrong with me," etc. and how anyone with Self energy - a coach, friend, family member - can be supportive of our own Self tending to our parts, and that, ultimately, it is always Love that heals. 0:00 Intro0:12 Theme Song0:38 Discussion Intoduction2:33 How Christine's Parts Responded4:28 How David's Parts Responded5:46 How Hallie's Parts Responded10:42 Article Introduction12:46 Article Reading23:21 How Therapy Can Reinforce Wounds29:59 The Importance Of Self-Energy36:58 The Importance of Relationship40:50 The Importance of Inner Work43:26 The Importance Of Self-Led Friends52:16 IFSI & Christianity55:09 How Love Heals59:53 A Beautiful Poem By Hallie1:00:48 Closing & Goodbyes1:01:34 Theme Song1:02:35 Like & Subscribe!

    S1 E4 | Activity: Left-Handed Letters from Love

In this episode, Christine leads Hallie and David (and you) through an exercise in which we express our parts' concerns by journaling with our dominant hand and then respond from Love/Spirit/SELF with our non dominant hand. Christine gives an overview of the many sources which use a similar method to access wisdom from Divine Source - Liz Gilbert's Letters from Love, The Morning Pages encouraged in The Artist's Way, Journal Speak developed by Nicole Sachs to heal chronic pain, Conversations With God by Neal Donald Walsh, and Spirit by Bob Falconer. Christine also talks about the influence of Jill Bolte Taylor's ideas in her book "Whole Brain Living," which made Christine wonder if our Self exists, or is at least channeled by, our right brain. She talks about the parallels between the parts and Self in IFS and JBT's "4 Characters" of the brain in this video. Christine, Hallie, and David all do the exercise and share the responses they got from Love/Spirit/SELF as well as their experience using the exercise in the recent past. Check out our SLB Instagram account if you'd like to see the writing that came out of it for us.  Please feel free to try the exercise and let us know how it went in the comments below. 0:00 Intro 0:18 Theme Song 0:42 Exercise Overview 1:52 Exercise Influences 11:32 Exercise Preview 16:08 Step One - Parts Writing with Right Hand 18:00 Step Two - Parts Question and Left Hand Reply 20:08 Christine's Experience 24:45 David's Experience 38:24 Hallie's Experience 48:17 Past Experiences with Exercise 57:24 Outro & Goodbyes 57:57 Theme Song

S1 E2 | Activity: Accessing Self-Energy Through Flows of Compassion

In today's episode of the Self Led Besties Podcast, Hallie beautifully leads David and Christine through a meditation and journaling exercise of listening to activated parts and receiving compassion from a Self energy surrogate and our own future Self before offering compassion out to others. After the exercise, Christine and David share about their activated parts and the messages they received from Self. Christine shares for parts activated by events in Minnesota and David shares for parts polarized around healing. In the spirit of experimentation on which our podcast is based, we tried offering just an audio experience with no edits for this episode. There will be large gaps of silence in this video/audio so that you can follow along in the exercise with us. You are welcome to join us or forward and just listen to our experiences. This is an exercise you can come back to repeatedly whenever parts feel activated (see chapters if you'd like to access a specific part of the exercise). If you do the exercise and would like to share what came up for you, please do that in the comments section. In this way, we can all be a community of compassionate with-ness for one another. 0:00 Intro 1:48 Theme Song 2:28 Exercise Intro 5:01 Finding Trailheads 9:32 Writing About Trailheads 16:25 First Flow Of Compassion 21:55 Second Flow Of Compassion 26:36 Third Flow Of Compassion 32:38 Exercise Summary 35:29 Christine's Experience 45:42 David's Experience 55:38 Outro & Full Theme Song
