In Episode 18, Laura and Will were honored to have the opportunity to sit down with Jacqueline Kelly, founder of Kelly Performance and Wellness, to explore how mental training can strengthen physical performance. Jacqueline Kelly, MS, CMPC, NASM-CPT, NSCA CSCS, NSAC-TSAC, is a former NCAA basketball player, Registered Psychotherapist, Certified Mental Performance Consultant, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and Personal Trainer with more than 20 years of experience. She holds a B.S. in Exercise Science and Health and an M.S. in Psychology with a Certificate in Sport Psychology. Throughout her career, Jacqueline has worked with Big Ten football programs, professional golfers, soccer players, cyclists, executives, students, recreational athletes, and individuals seeking greater mental and physical well-being. In this episode, Jacqueline reveals how the way you speak to yourself, direct your focus, regulate your emotions, and prepare your mind can transform the way you train and perform. From quieting negative self-talk and managing race day anxiety to building confidence through visualization, she shares practical tools to help runners feel stronger when the miles and their minds get difficult. She also challenges the traditional idea of mental toughness by explaining what it means to become “Unfragile” and not hiding your emotions or pushing through at any cost, but learning how to stay grounded, adapt, and come back stronger when life or running knocks you off course.
