Let’s Fight! How to Have Healthy Conflict for Greater Connection (Part 1)

What if conflict isn't the problem in your relationships but what you've learned to believe about conflict is? In Part 1 of our new series, “Let’s Fight! How to Have Healthy Conflict for Greater Connection,” Lisa explores why so many of us avoid difficult conversations, swallow our feelings, or work overtime to keep everyone happy. Others of us move in the opposite direction, feeling the need to fix the problem, defend our position, or make sure the other person finally understands our side. But what if healthy relationships don't require the absence of conflict? Through biblical wisdom, practical insights into our nervous system, and a little humor, Lisa unpacks how avoiding disagreement can create resentment and distance rather than the peace we think we're protecting. You'll discover why emotional and spiritual maturity don't mean never disagreeing, how your past experiences may shape your response to conflict, and why learning to speak the truth in love requires courage. In this episode, you'll learn how to: Recognize the difference between genuine peace and conflict avoidance.Understand what your personal history may have taught you about disagreement.Begin reframing conflict as an opportunity for honesty, understanding, and deeper connection.Reflect on where you might be sacrificing your voice to keep others comfortable. You'll also hear a relatable Let's Get Real moment about the conversations we rehearse in our heads while the other person has absolutely no idea there's a problem! If you've ever struggled to speak up, feared disappointing someone, or mistaken keeping the peace for maintaining a healthy relationship, this episode will help you begin seeing conflict differently. Because the goal isn't to become a woman who never experiences conflict. It's to become a woman who can tell the truth, honor herself, and love others without losing herself. Coming up in Part 2: Don't Lose Yourself in the Fight: How to Stay Regulated and Connected During Conflict. We'll explore what happens when conflict actually arrives and how to stay grounded and connected when emotions run high.

From Fear to Love: Reconnecting With Yourself and Living With Greater Freedom

What happens when caring deeply for other people slowly turns into losing yourself? In this episode of Emotional Health for Christian Women, Lisa welcomes her very first podcast guest, Karen Brownfield, CPLC, ACC, founder of Resonant Path Coaching. Karen helps burned-out strivers become joy-filled thrivers through her Love-Zone Living framework. Lisa and Karen talk about something so many women experience but may not have language for: self-abandonment. You may genuinely love your family and want to serve others, yet find yourself overfunctioning, people pleasing, fixing, rescuing, worrying about disappointing others, or constantly putting everyone else's needs ahead of your own. Karen explains how disconnecting from our needs and values can contribute to burnout and what happens in our spirit, heart, head, and body when we remain stuck in fear. Together, they explore what it looks like to move from the brain's fear zone toward the love zone - a way of living that allows us to reconnect with ourselves, listen to our own voice, establish healthy boundaries, and love others without losing ourselves in the process. You'll hear practical ways to begin making that shift, including Karen's framework of putting off and putting on, along with simple questions and practices you can use in everyday life. If you've ever thought, “I don't even know what I need anymore,” or found yourself exhausted from trying to keep everyone else okay, this conversation is for you. You don't have to change everything today. Sometimes emotional health begins with simply becoming honest about what is happening inside of us - and taking one small step toward living from love instead of fear. Stop Waiting For Permission

Have you ever known what you wanted to do, but before you could even decide whether it was right for you, you started wondering what everyone else would think? In this final episode of our three-part series on limiting beliefs, we’re talking about the approval trap—and what happens when we become so focused on other people’s opinions that we stop trusting our own discernment. There’s a difference between seeking wise counsel and needing everyone’s approval, and learning that difference can be incredibly freeing. We’ll talk about people-pleasing, the fear of disappointing others, confidence, discernment, and what it looks like to take a faithful next step even when you know someone may not understand or agree. Most importantly, we’ll come back to the stories we’ve been believing about ourselves and ask: What would I do if I didn’t believe that story? If you’ve been holding yourself back because you’re afraid you’re not capable, you might fail, or someone else might disapprove, this episode is an invitation to stop waiting for permission and start becoming more fully the woman God created you to be. Free Resource: Want to dig deeper into the beliefs and stories that may be shaping the way you live? Download my free workbook, “What Story Are You Living From? A Workbook for Recognizing and Rewriting Limiting Beliefs,” at Our Relentless Pursuit. It will help you identify the stories you’ve been living from and begin considering what might be true instead.

Think Like a Champion: Learning to Fail Without Becoming a Failure

Think Like a Champion: Learning to Fail Without Becoming a Failure | Part 2 of 3 What happens when you finally step outside the invisible fences we talked about in Part 1—and then things don’t go the way you hoped? You take a risk, try something new, speak up, pursue an opportunity, or make a decision, and suddenly you’re facing rejection, disappointment, or failure. It’s easy to let one difficult experience become a story about who you are: I’m not capable. I’m not good enough. I shouldn’t have tried. Maybe I just can’t do this. But failure is an event, not an identity. In Part 2 of this three-part series, we’re talking about resilience and what it means to think like a champion—not someone who never falls, but someone who knows how to get back up. We’ll look at how our brains can magnify the negative, why we’re so quick to turn mistakes and disappointments into statements about our worth, and how we can learn from failure without allowing it to define us. I’ll also give you a simple four-question framework to use when something doesn’t go the way you hoped: What happened? What did I make it mean? What did it teach me? What’s my next move? Because emotional health doesn’t mean pretending failure doesn’t hurt. It means learning how to feel the disappointment, take responsibility when necessary, learn what we can, and keep moving forward without losing ourselves in the process. And if you’re still working through the limiting beliefs we explored in Part 1, be sure to grab my free workbook: What Story Are You Living From? A Workbook for Recognizing and Rewriting Limiting Beliefs It will help you identify the stories you may be carrying about yourself and begin replacing them with truth. In Part 3, we’ll tackle another powerful invisible fence: other people's opinions. We’ll talk about the difference between seeking wisdom and seeking permission, learning to tolerate being misunderstood, and what it looks like to pursue what matters to you without needing everyone to approve. Because you are not a failure because you fell. You become resilient when you learn how to rise again.
