  1. We Got A Job Ad From A Chinese Zoo And Honestly It Sounds Better Than Our Last Careers [Episode 29]

We Got A Job Ad From A Chinese Zoo And Honestly It Sounds Better Than Our Last Careers [Episode 29]

This week on Grab Her By The Mic, a zoo in China is openly hiring humans to dress as black bears - six hour shifts, purring only, no ventilation in the costume - and over 100 people applied immediately, which tells you everything you need to know about the state of the job market. Canada has given trees legal rights, prompting an actual lawyer to say in an actual courtroom: "What do trees do if not standing? If anything has standing, it's a tree." And an Australian business called Rat Gizzard Oddities has gone viral for selling lingerie with actual taxidermied rats sewn onto them. They are called LingeRATs. That is a pun. Someone made a rat pun and then made the product. They are classified as art collectibles and cost $190. International shipping available. The HyperFix this week is Philsy’s journey down the day in the life content rabbit hole - why we can't stop watching strangers make porridge and go for four kilometre walks, what emotional gap it's actually filling, and the moment she realised watching someone else's perfect morning routine was making her feel terrible about her own pile of laundry. Relatable. Painful. Extremely on brand. The SideQuest is Would You Rather Work There - five real jobs that actually exist and a couple of made up ones that Philsy has to say yes or no immediately. Armpit sniffer (60 per hour, benefits unknown), tree rights lawyer, professional bed tester (under observation), vomit collector at a theme park, and the bear job. Her answers will not surprise you. They will disappoint you. Han would take all five and she said what she said. Obsession of the Week: Philsy is on mouth tape for sleep and Han has a lot of thoughts about her husband. Han has watched Office Romance on Netflix twice this week and is not taking questions. Brett Goldstein wrote a romcom specifically for his celebrity crush Jennifer Lopez, cast himself as her love interest, and it genuinely feels like a proper romcom in a way we haven't had since the early 2010s. Rated R. Slightly raunchy. Highly recommended. Explicit, feral, and occasionally educational. See you next Tuesday. 💋 CHAOS CORRECTIONAL (FACT-CHECK CORNER) Stick around after the outro for Chaos Correctional - where Han cleans up the confident nonsense we said on air with just enough research to be dangerous. This week we correct: What type of bear the Chinese zoo was actually hiring for Whether Quebec is actually French (it's complicated) The full story of the famous tree that got chopped down (it's called the Sycamore Gap tree and it sprouted back) The dinosaur tree near Bowral Hospital and whether it's in Glebe Park Why rats on the lingerie (we tried) Girth vs birth: a correction that should not have been necessary Whether mouth taping is actually one of the number one things you can do for your health (the science says: maybe, but calm down) How your phone actually knows your REM sleep data LINKS & THINGS WE MENTIONED 🍷 Recap & Rosé Swinging Bridge Shiraz - Orange, NSW (Han's Recap & Rosé) Clipper Tea - bleach-free, plastic-free tea bags (Philsy's Recap & Rosé recommendation) 🌀 The Weekly Spiral  Luohe Wildlife Zoo black bear job ad - South China Morning Post The 2023 Hangzhou Zoo sun bear incident - the origin story of China now openly hiring humans as bears Terrasse-Vaudreuil tree rights resolution - The Independent Rat Gizzard Oddities LingeRAT - VICE 😍 Obsession of the Week  Triple Z Mouth Tape (mouth tape for sleep) Skin Gym lip-shaped mouth tape DreamWave Pillow Speaker (sound goes under your pillow, pressure activated) - Han impulse bought on Instagram Stories Office Romance - Netflix, starring Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein, written by Goldstein and Ted Lasso co-writer Joe Kelly 🐰 Research Rabbit Hole Sleep Foundation mouth taping article - Mouth Taping for Sleep: Does It Work? ✅ Chaos Correctional Sycamore Gap tree - Wikipedia Do You Need To Speak French In Quebec? 2. Taylor Swift's Easter Eggs, Spy Turtles, and a World Cup Ball That Went Rogue [Episode 28]

    Jun 22

Taylor Swift's Easter Eggs, Spy Turtles, and a World Cup Ball That Went Rogue [Episode 28]

This week on Grab Her By The Mic, Han goes fully forensic on Taylor Swift's Easter eggs for The HyperFix, and honestly, we're not okay. It started with the Toy Story 5 countdown that appeared on Taylor's website for approximately ten minutes before disappearing and being called "a mistake" by her team. Sure. In The Weekly Spiral: China has warned citizens to be on the lookout for suspicious turtles, and we discovered the CIA already tried this with a cat in the 1960s for $20 million and the cat got hit by a taxi. A giant World Cup ball escaped its anchors in El Salvador, went on an absolute rampage through traffic, and one truck driver decided to play - the country didn't even qualify for the tournament. And Gen Z is speedrunning Scientology buildings in Minions costumes, Scientology has removed their door handles in response, and Leah Remini is telling everyone to calm down. The SideQuest this week was "Wow, Okay" - two rounds of the same phrase delivered in different emotional registers, escalating from supportive to flirty to wildly off-script. Obsession of the Week: Philsy's slow cooker chorizo bean soup, and Han's Loop earplugs, purchased specifically to survive Mabel's frequency. Explicit, feral, occasionally educational and accidentally a Taylor Swift fan podcast.  See you next Tuesday. 💋 CHAOS CORRECTIONAL (FACT-CHECK CORNER) Stick around after the outro for Chaos Correctional - where Han cleans up the confident nonsense we said on air with just enough research to be dangerous.  This week we correct: When Project Acoustic Kitty actually happened (not Trump) Whether you need a licence to own a turtle in Australia (yes, more paperwork than a passport) Whether El Salvador is actually hilly (confirmed, the ball had physics on its side) How they caught the giant inflatable ball (they didn't, it caught itself) Whether the Opalite music video came out before Toy Story 5 was announced (yes, and it makes the whole thing weirder) Where Gwyneth Paltrow's luxury apartment building actually is (Herzliya, Israel - not New York, the car cannot drive across the ocean) LINKS & THINGS WE MENTIONED 🧠The HyperFix Fans Are Convinced Taylor Swift Just Dropped a Major TS12 Easter Egg in Her Masters Announcement - AOL Taylor Swift’s Grammys 2025 Dress Contains a Huge Easter Egg - AOL Taylor Swift’s 'The Life of a Showgirl' Has Shocking Easter Eggs About Travis Kelce, Charli XCX, and More - AOL  All the Easter Eggs Taylor Swift Dropped About Doing the Super Bowl Halftime Show - AOL  Toy Story 5 - released June 19, 2026 Taylor Swift sourdough bread rumour - Marie Claire Charli XCX  Taylor Swift Feud - Glamour  Taylor Swift — "Actually Romantic" from The Life of a Showgirl 🌀The Weekly Spiral  Spy Turtles - New York Post coverage El Salvador Escaped Giant Inflatable La Trionda - The Sun coverage and video Wikipedia - Background on Scientology Speedrunning Tom Cruise kissing Victoria Beckham's hand at David Beckham's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony - Vn Express Project Acoustic Kitty - CIA animal surveillance program, 1960s DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) - US military R&D agency 51 Park - luxury development in Herzliya, Israel (Gwyneth Paltrow's ad) - From Goop to ‘Gwynocide’: why is Gwyneth Paltrow starring in a luxury Israeli real estate ad? | The Guardian  💕Obsession of the Week  Loop earplugs (also on Amazon) Philsy's recipe - Chorizo and White Bean Stew 📣 Shoutouts Rowan - fan spotted at a venue, very gracious, actually listens Et (Andrew Ettingshausen) - legendary Australian fisherman, TV host of ET's Fishing Adventures Patty - won a fishing trip with ET via a 25-word Instagram competition, now in the gym Loved this episode? 3. ADHD, Meth, and a Shark Doing Sports Journalism (A Completely Normal Episode) [Episode 27]

    Jun 16

ADHD, Meth, and a Shark Doing Sports Journalism (A Completely Normal Episode) [Episode 27]

This week on Grab Her By The Mic opened with a phone call. A friend - we're calling her Poppy - got pulled over after school drop-off on a Wednesday morning, tested positive for meth, and it was the Vyvanse. Han, who is on two and a half times the dose, had several feelings about this. We looked into why ADHD medication triggers roadside drug tests, how the science works, and why absolutely nobody mentioned this at any point during our respective diagnoses. Poppy was let go. Han has questions. From there the Weekly Spiral covers someone is auctioning the chair Taylor Swift sat in at an NBA playoff game for above $9,000 and the auction is still live. Mr Blobby is having a cultural comeback in Britain and one of us had never heard of him and immediately hated him, which is the correct response. A shark in Brazil predicted the World Cup and got a draw, which is not great for her track record.  In The HyperFix Philsy deep-dived the Kardashian-Jenner chaos at Monaco F1 - Kim's bandage dress, Khy Summer, the Cory Gamble situation, and Kendall's very divine new boyfriend Jacob Elordi.  For The SideQuest, we played Relic or Rubbish - a game where Philsy guessed the sale prices of celebrity memorabilia and mostly got it wrong.  Han went to the Hare Spa at Hidden Hare in Mittagong with Poppy and actually fell asleep, which has never happened in a treatment before, and she wants you to know this is significant and why it is her Obsession of the Week. While Philsy’s Obsession of the Week is her new Klik camera - a screenless digital camera that brought back the joy of not knowing whether your photos are good. Explicit, chaotic, occasionally educational, and the first podcast episode to meaningfully discuss both meth and head spas in the same breath.  See you next Tuesday. 💋 CHAOS CORRECTIONAL (FACT-CHECK CORNER) Stick around after the outro for Chaos Correctional - where Han cleans up the confident nonsense we said on air with just enough research to be dangerous. This week we correct: Whether Bordeaux is a protected designation like Champagne (yes, and the French will find you) Whether meth and crystal meth are the same thing (related but not identical - Tim Tams are explained) Whether Vyvanse and methamphetamine are the same thing (no, but they're chemically adjacent, which is somehow both better and worse) Whether "rat boy" is the correct term for sexy nerdy - and whether Timothée Chalamet counts (partially right, one year late) Whether Ryan Gosling moved to Australia during COVID (wrong on the timing - it was 2022 for The Fall Guy) Whether Brazil is hosting the World Cup (no - USA, Canada and Mexico, and Brazil drew 1-1 with Morocco anyway) Whether Ritinha the shark's predictions have been proven (she predicted a Brazil win, they drew, she is cooked) LINKS & THINGS WE MENTIONED 🍷 Recap & Rosé Château Le Morines Bordeaux - the Aldi wine in question Project Hail Mary (film, 2026) - Ryan Gosling, watch now on Amazon Prime Wild Mountain Thyme (film, 2020) - the bumblebee movie, starring Jamie Dornan and Emily Blunt, also on Amazon Prime ❤️‍🔥 Obsession of the Week Hidden Hare Mittagong - Hare Spa KLIK cameras - screenless digital camera, ~$89 🌀 Weekly Spiral Taylor Swift chair auction - ESPN Mr Blobby cultural comeback - The Guardian, June 4 2026 Ritinha the shark / World Cup predictions - NDTV Profit  🧠 The HyperFix Kardashians at Monaco F1 - various entertainment outlets Khy (Kylie Jenner's fashion brand) Jacob Elordi - Kendall Jenner's new boyfriend Cory Gamble - Kris Jenner's partner Loved this episode? 4. Pre-Perimenopause, Snake Wrestling and the Sheet That Did Nothing [Episode 26]

    Jun 12

Pre-Perimenopause, Snake Wrestling and the Sheet That Did Nothing [Episode 26]

This week on Grab Her By The Mic, Han survived five birthdays in one weekend, a junior disco at an illegal decibel level, a pinata wielded like a weapon by a four-year-old, while Philsy survived a Hello Fresh salesman who stood at her door for 40 minutes in the cold while the curry went cold inside. She was late because of it. Standard. This week's Weekly Spiral accidentally became National Geographic after three glasses of Grenache. America has now lost multiple kangaroos across multiple states, the US Health Secretary posted a video of himself wrestling snakes, and two men drove a dead alligator across Central Florida on the roof of their car, and when questioned, covered it with a white sheet and kept driving. The HyperFix this week started at the Mittagong junior disco, where someone called Kelsey casually dropped the concept of pre-perimenopause like a grenade and walked away. What followed was several hours of research into whether it's a real medical condition (sort of, maybe, nobody entirely agrees), a deep dive into why ADHD makes the whole thing worse and earlier, and a genuine spiral about why women are still learning about their own bodies from random conversations in completely inappropriate settings.  Obsessions of the Week: Go-To Skincare (Philsy is on a clean perfume oil journey and the Face Hero is doing things) and Off Campus on Prime Video (Han needs you to watch it immediately, it's too childish for grown-ups and too sexy for kids, which means it's exactly for you). Stick around for Chaos Correctional where Han fact-checks the bear, the snakes, Tony Abbott, and the trebuchet. Explicit, feral, occasionally educational, and accidentally hormonal. See you next Tuesday. 💋 CHAOS CORRECTIONAL (FACT-CHECK CORNER) Stick around after the outro for Chaos Correctional - where Han cleans up the confident nonsense we said on air with just enough research to be dangerous. Jun 6

Microplastics, Mental Spirals, and a Man With a Wheelie Bin [Episode 25]

It's episode 25 of Grab Her By The Mic - a quarter of a century (kind of) of being completely unqualified in your ears - and this one has everything. We kick off Recap & Rosé in full Flubber energy (cold sores, dirty hair, a botched haircut, and a son who said "ha ha sucker" at the preschool gate), before spiralling into three Weekly Spiral stories that cover a French teenager who committed citrus-based terrorism in Singapore, a Massachusetts beekeeper who arrived at an eviction with a trailer full of hives and zero regrets, and something that happened in Scotland involving a wheelie bin that we are still processing. Han's Hyperfix goes deep on microplastics - and it is not a vibe. Plastic in your blood, your lungs, your brain tissue, your placenta. Philsy's Hyperfix brings the antidote: an accidental family Olympics featuring pickleball, soccer, skipping, UNO gambling, and a preschooler in full footy gear deception. The SideQuest this week is One Thing Led To Another - a collaborative spiral game inspired by ADHD and RSD. Obsession of the Week covers a Korean beauty foundation from Beauty Amora that costs $25 and somehow outperforms Charlotte Tilbury, and the Finch app - a self-care app disguised as raising a little bird that won't make you feel terrible when you forget about it for three months. Explicit, feral, occasionally peer-reviewed, and accidentally educational about bin-related legal proceedings. See you next Tuesday. 💋 CHAOS CORRECTIONAL (FACT-CHECK CORNER) Stick around after the outro for Chaos Correctional - where Han cleans up the confident nonsense we said on air with just enough research to be dangerous. 6. Greg the Frog, The Fury Wedding, and a Fashion Show That Needed a Welfare Check [Episode 24]

    May 28

Greg the Frog, The Fury Wedding, and a Fashion Show That Needed a Welfare Check [Episode 24]

This week on Grab Her By The Mic, Han reports that her four-year-old has declared war on her personally, Philsy has a possum update that nobody asked for but everyone needed, and together they spiral through three news stories that are somehow all equally unhinged. Australian Fashion Week had a fire alarm, a woman being dragged across the runway by her ankles, and Ian Thorpe sitting front row looking like a man who deeply regrets every decision that led him to that seat. A frog named Greg survived inside a sealed Woolworths salad bag and was sent off with a rendition of Crazy Frog. And over 150 peacocks have formed a government in an Italian seaside town and nobody is doing anything about it. Han's Hyperfix this week is the question keeping every parent of a spirited child awake at 2am: is my child emotionally okay, or is she just four? Spoiler: the answer involves prefrontal cortex development, the phrase "I wish you were dead," and the realisation that secure attachment means you are the designated emotional punching bag.  Philsy goes deep on the Fury family - Tyson, Venezuela, the 50-foot lace train, the Crocs, Peter Andre appearing like a beautiful haunted carousel horse, and a father-daughter dance to Mysterious Girl that nobody saw coming. The SideQuest this week is Fashion Show or Mental Breakdown, which after the week we've had is less of a game and more of a documentary.  Chaotic, feral, occasionally educational and accidentally therapeutic. Explicit content. Not suitable for the easily offended or anyone who just wants to eat their salad in peace. See you next Tuesday. 💋 Chaos Correctional (Fact-Check Corner): Stick around after the outro for Chaos Correctional - where Han cleans up the confident nonsense we said on air with just enough research to be dangerous. This week we correct: The wine (it's Nero d'Avola, not Diavolo Nero - same energy, different label) Georgia O'Keeffe (dead since 1986 and she did NOT mean the flowers that way)  Guano (we used this correctly and we're celebrating)  The turkey drowning myth (false, but the real answer is somehow more disturbing)  Tommy Fury's Pokémon card (that's Logan Paul's card -completely different person)  Whether Peter Andre is a Gypsy (he is Greek Cypriot and simply appears at events)  Traveller prenups (not really a thing)  Bluetooth sleep headbands (probably fine, but the anxiety about it might be the actual problem) Links & Things We Mentioned 🍷 Recap & Rosé  Wimala Tempranillo 2021 from Mudgee - deep red with cherry, nutmeg, cocoa, sarsaparilla, plums, blackberry and raspberry 🧠 The HyperFix At Home with the Furys (Netflix)  Molly-Mae: Behind It All (Prime Video)   Brat Buster Parenting - Instagram: @bratbustersparenting  🌀 The Weekly Spiral Greg the frog - Live frog found in bag of lettuce in remote Western Australian town Australian Fashion Week - Fashionistas forced to evacuate during runway show Australian Fashion Week - Bizarre stunt as model dragged on floor in front of celebrities including Ian Thorpe Italian peacocks - Peacock ‘invasion’ of Italian seaside town ruffles feathers 💕 Obsession of the Week Sleep Well Bluetooth Headband - available at Rebel Sport Metamucil - fibre supplement, available at most pharmacies and supermarkets Loved this episode? Litter Boxes, Military Dolphins & the Thermos That's Out to Get You [Episode 23]

This week on Grab Her By The Mic, a friend told Han that a local high school installed a litter box for students who identify as cats. Han lost her mind about it for a week, went down a rabbit hole, and came back with something way more sinister than a rumour about cats Philsy went full correspondent mode on the 2026 Met Gala - best dressed (Kris Jenner and Cara Delevingne), worst dressed (Heidi Klum, obviously), the Bezos controversy, Rihanna arriving after the red carpet had already closed, Blake Lively's energy, Katy Perry's six-fingers, and Beyoncé doing exactly what Beyoncé does.  In the Weekly Spiral: a missing woman in Mexico whose filtered Instagram photos made her unrecognisable to police, the Pentagon press briefing that became an Austin Powers bit when Iran was accused of deploying kamikaze dolphins, and the Thermos recall affecting 8 million containers after three people lost their vision opening their lunch.  The SideQuest was Silent Call, where it was proven why Philsy isn’t allowed to plan anything on her own. We wore headphones and had to navigate phone calls with no idea what was happening. Philsy’s Mum thought she was being held hostage while Han’s Dad huffed and puffed yet somehow knew Philsy was involved. A second caller announced she'd done a poo. It was exactly what it sounds like. Explicit, feral, occasionally educational, and accidentally the most thorough investigation of a local rumour the Southern Highlands has ever produced. See you next Tuesday. 💋 CHAOS CORRECTIONAL (FACT-CHECK CORNER) Stick around after the outro for Chaos Correctional - where Han cleans up the confident nonsense we said on air with just enough research to be dangerous. Slow Living, Suspicious Date Nights & Ronnie the Crayfish Who Didn't Make It [Episode 22]

Episode 22 of Grab Her By The Mic opens with a debrief that goes places. Han's husband planned a date night and she immediately suspected she was being broken up with. Philsy went to the Hunter Valley, drank a lot of wine, and returned a self-declared expert. One of them relaxed into a genuinely slow weekend. The other one is still processing it. Classic. The Weekly Spiral covers the three stories you need to know about this week: Harry Styles reportedly engaged after eight months (we have stats and opinions), Trump pausing a live televised speech to tell Melania their marriage won't last (with the King of England in the room), and an activist who stole a pet crayfish named Ronnie from a restaurant to liberate him - and killed him instantly by throwing him into cold saltwater. RIP Ronnie. You deserved better. Han's Hyperfix digs into the slow living trap - why opting out of hustle culture feels like another full-time job with a mood board. Spoiler: your nervous system is confused, rest feels like a threat, and the linen set is not going to fix it. Philsy brings Hunter Valley hot takes and the science behind why April specifically destroys everyone. The SideQuest is Worth It or Cooked - both hosts rule on self-care behaviours and admit to things they probably shouldn't. The chaos twist delivers.  Chaotic, occasionally educational, and somehow accidentally therapeutic. See you next Tuesday. 💋 Chaos Correctional (Fact-Check Corner) Stick around after the outro for Chaos Correctional - where Han cleans up the confident nonsense we said on air with just enough research to be dangerous.
