Doug Wekenman | What Does God Have Planned for Me Next?

What does God have planned for your life? In this episode, Stephen sits down with Pastor and author Doug Wekenman to explore one of life's biggest questions: How do we trust God when we don't know what's next? Doug serves at Red Rocks Church in Austin and recently released his new book, What Does God Have Planned for Me Next? Doug writes, "As Christians, we're called to follow a God we can't see, with a voice we can't hear, into a future we don't know." Together, they unpack what that looks like in everyday life. IN THIS EPISODE: • Following God through the adventure of life• Discerning God's voice through Scripture and wise people• Whether it's okay to have dreams and make plans• Why God sometimes "ruins" our plans for something better• Taking your next faithful step, even when the future is uncertain If you've ever wondered what God is calling you to next, this conversation will encourage you to trust Him with whatever comes next. 📖 DOUG'S BOOK:https://a.co/d/00NigVen SHOW NOTE LINKS Doug Wekenman• Website: https://dougwekenman.com• Red Rocks Austin: https://redrocksaustin.com• Instagram: https://instagram.com/dougwekenman• Facebook: https://facebook.com/wekenman• YouTube: https://youtube.com/@RedRocksAustin• Podcast: The Afterthoughts Podcast EVERYDAY ADVENTURE • Website: https://stephenglasser.com/podcast• Stephen: https://instagram.com/stephenglasser• Everyday Adventure: https://instagram.com/evdayadventure• Book: https://a.co/d/02lYqXiE

Staying True to What Matters Most

If you know what matters most but don't build a system to remember it, there's a good chance you'll slowly drift away from it. In this episode, Stephen and Megan wrap up their conversation on core values by sharing three practical ways to stay the course. Discover how a few simple rhythms can help you keep what matters most at the center of your everyday life. In this episode: • 1. Make it memorable — Create a simple action statement for each of your values (examples: "Stay close to Jesus." "Move toward people.") so they're easy to remember and live out. • 2. Make it visible — Put your values somewhere you'll see them every day. Try your bathroom mirror, car, phone wallpaper, journal, Bible, or another place you'll encounter often. • 3. Make it last — Revisit your values regularly. Put your next reflection date on the calendar so you can evaluate, adjust, and stay aligned over time. Finding Your Main Things

What if the key to a more intentional life isn't doing more—but getting clear on what matters most? In this episode, Stephen and Megan explore one of the most foundational conversations we've had on the podcast: discovering your core values—or as we like to call them, your Main Things. We unpack why defining what matters most changes the way we make decisions, shapes our priorities, and helps us build a life of greater purpose instead of simply reacting to whatever comes our way. Along the way, we play detective. Can you identify someone's core values by looking at their calendar, bank statement, the people they admire, or even their biggest regrets? Join us as we explore practical clues that reveal what matters most and encourage you to finally name and define the values that will become your compass for everyday life. In this episode:• Why your Main Things shape every decision you make• The difference between having priorities and actually defining them• A fun "Core Values Detective" exercise using clues from everyday life• Practical ways to uncover and name your core values• Why your values become a compass for living with greater purpose The Main Things Workshop Ready to discover what matters most and build your life around it? Join Stephen for The Main Things Workshop on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 | 6:00–8:00 PM at Northview Church in Fargo, ND. Making Room for What Matters Most

Most people want to do more of what matters most. More meaningful relationships. More purpose. More time for the things that truly matter. So why is it so hard? In this episode, Stephen and Megan explore some of the external and internal factors that keep us from prioritizing what matters most. From packed schedules and competing commitments to fear, guilt, and uncertainty, they discuss what gets in the way—and why clarity matters so much. Because if we aren't clear on what matters most, it's almost impossible to make room for it. If you've ever felt stretched thin, distracted, or like your life is being driven by everything except your priorities, this conversation is for you. EVERYDAY ADVENTURE CHALLENGE: QUIT SOMETHING Inspired by Bob Goff's advice, choose one thing to stop doing this week. Maybe it's a commitment that's no longer serving your priorities. Maybe it's a habit that's taking more than it's giving. Maybe it's a distraction that's crowding out something more important. We're not talking about ghosting responsibilities or abandoning people. Handle things the right way. But ask yourself: What is one thing I can remove to make room for what matters most? Sometimes the best way to add more of what matters most is to eliminate something that doesn't. CONNECT WITH US: If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to subscribe, rate, and review the podcast.
