While the two cases are separate, both have generated significant public interest because of allegations involving violent behavior and questions about how repeat offenders are handled. Di-Quan Schafar Hunt, 32, was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg police on August 6, 2026, after investigators were shown social-media videos allegedly depicting Hunt assaulting and harassing women. Decarlos Brown Jr. is accused in the August 22, 2025, killing of 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska aboard Charlotte's LYNX Blue Line light rail. Brown faces a federal charge alleging that he caused a death on a mass transportation system, as well as a separate first-degree murder charge in North Carolina state court. By April, the family seemed to disappear. The children had stopped going to school and the mother hadn't been back to work. On April 21st, after many searches of the home, the bodies of the mother and her four kids as well as their 2 dogs were found buried in the garden backyard. The only one missing was the father, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès. French police would discover that on the 11th, he had written that the family had to go into the witness protection program in the United States. However, he was seen on CCTV footage on the 15th at a hotel in Roquebrune-sur-Argens. He was alone when he looked directly into the camera and vanished. Few clues have been found and sightings were being debunked. Until this year in 2026, when investigators in Texas claimed that there might have been a sighting of Xavier, 15 years later. While mother Amber Carter went into hiding with her kids from her abusive ex boyfriend, he went on a killing spree. By the end, Jeremy Rashad Harris had become a serial killer, the Thrill Killer. It was in downtown Dallas, Texas, on Halloween night 2020, 19 year old Robert Jaden Urrea was out at a Halloween party. At 3am when he was looking for a ride home at the intersection of S. Harwood street and Jackson Street, he would be shot to death. 14 days later, 21 minutes away, Adam  Gautreau was shot 9 times and killed. That same night, Kenneth Hamilton was shot dead in his own car at a red light. With fears of a serial killer, a fire broke out at a home in the nearby town of Celina, Texas. There they would find the body of Blair Carter. Amber Carter's father at the home where they were hiding. Jeremy Rashad Harris was arrested in the same vehicle seen at the other murders. It was theorized that while on the hunt for his ex-girlfriend, this man became a serial killer. But she survived. FOUND MURDERED IN SCHOOL CLOSET - True Crime Mystery Finally Solved

Thanks to our sponsors: Go to shopremi.com/MAKENNA and use code MAKENNA  at checkout for 50% off with Remi Club Subscribe & Save.  Back in 2015, 7 year old Beatriz Angelica Mota was living in Petrolina, Pernambuco, Brazil with her family.  The children, including 7 year old Beatriz, were also attending the same Private Catholic school their father was teaching at. Beatriz Mota would be murdered in her own school, found dead in a school closet. With a lack of crime awareness and a need for justice reform, this case took nearly a decade to solve. On December 10th, the entire family was at the school that evening for a graduation ceremony from 7pm to 11pm. The eldest daughter Samira was graduating and the whole family went to support. Thousands of guests filtered into the gymnasium. Around 9:50pm, Beatriz asked to get a drink out of a nearby water fountain. This was her school after all and she knew where everything was. A school that was supposed to be a safe place. That's when she would disappear. By 11pm, a scream erupted echoing through the gym. Fellow parents searching for her had opened the storage closet door that was often unused. They would find Beatriz in the back corner of the burned out closet, lying in a pool of blood with a butcher knife on her chest. She was deceased. For the next 7 years, her murder went unsolved. Her mother Lucinha Mota became her own lead investigator. Finally, a man was caught and his trial is coming soon, over a decade later.
