Faye Roots Award-Winning Author, Storyteller, and Christian Creative Sharing a Lifetime of Faith, Imagination, and Inspiration. I am an Australian author, storyteller, wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of faith whose life journey has been shaped by love, loss, creativity, and an enduring search for truth. My husband David and I lived for 41 years on a rural block of land in the peaceful community of Wolvi near Gympie, Queensland, before moving to a retirement village in the beautiful coastal town of Caloundra, also in Queensland. Together, we have shared more than fifty-six years of marriage, raised three wonderful children, and been blessed with five grandchildren. Looking back, I see a life woven together with both extraordinary joys and difficult challenges, each one teaching me something valuable about faith, resilience, and the grace of God. Long before I became a published author, I was simply a little girl with a vivid imagination and a love for stories. At the age of twelve, I won my first essay competition, and from that moment, writing became a lifelong passion. Over the years, I have written short stories, devotionals, novels, memoirs, poetry, inspirational books, and a children's book series that continues to bring joy to young readers. Writing has never been just a creative outlet for me. It has been a journey of discovery. Throughout my life, I have been fascinated by one question: What is truth, and what is imagination? That question has guided much of my writing and ultimately led me to a deeper understanding of faith, purpose, and the God who created us to dream, create, and hope. My first novel, ‘Beyond the Ashes,’ was truly a labor of love. Although the characters were fictional, they became very real to me, and their story simply had to be told. Later, I wrote ‘Marranga Limga’ and its sequel, ‘Legacy of Limga,’ historical fiction novels set in nineteenth-century Queensland that explore faith, courage, and perseverance during the challenges of early settlement. One of the most meaningful books I have written is ‘Shafts of Gold,’ my memoir. It was never intended to shine a light on me, but rather to honor the One who has guided me throughout my life. Encouraged by family, friends, my Christian mentor, and especially by the memory of my beloved daughter Alison, who went home to God in 2021, I shared my story of faith, discovery, heartbreak, and hope. Through every chapter of my life, I have witnessed God's presence in ways that were often unexpected, profound, and sometimes miraculous. Now in my eighties, I continue to write because I believe stories have the power to encourage, heal, and connect us. Whether I am writing fiction, memoir, poetry, spiritual reflections, or children's stories, my desire is always the same to leave readers with hope. I love speaking about faith, creativity, the writing journey, family, resilience, grief, aging with purpose, and the lessons learned from a lifetime of following God's leading. If my experiences can encourage even one person to keep believing, keep creating, or keep moving forward through difficult seasons, then every word I have written has been worthwhile. After all these years, I still believe that every life tells a story, and some of the most meaningful chapters are often written after we think the story is finished.
