This show was entertaining while it lasted. Matt was far more willing to engage in arguments than in ATW. However, in the last episode, when the topic of criminally charging political prosecutors involved in Russiagate, Matt resorts to arguments from authority and ad hominem. I have newfound respect for Tracey.

Taibbi’s bailiwick was always going to be print journalism, so the right cohost is on a venture like this is key. Michael Tracey is not that cohost. While I got tired of Walter Kirn’s Trump apologist schtick on America This Week, he at least talked through the issues with that midwestern gentlemanly charm. Tracey engages the issues as an excuse to condescendingly explain to the audience how smart and right he is and how wrong and stupid everyone else is. He interrupts constantly. Not usually to help sharpen a point or unpack an idea, but to self-righteously exalt himself in some obnoxious way. Taibbi is usually pretty savvy, but collaborating with Tracey is just a terribly idea. How about rotating some of your young writers in for weekly recaps instead? I’ll keep my Racket subscription for the time being because of the excellent written content, especially as some of the new hires are doing great work, but I will not listen to any more podcasts featuring Michael Tracey.

Hey matt , happy to hear you back on the air after the ending of A T W . Michael is an excellant job. Best of luck to you both. While other political podcasts behave more like 30 chickens fighting over 20 corn kernals you guys just tell it like it is. Excellant job !
