    Time To Exhale

Send us Fan Mail What happens when the strong friend finally breaks? The people who hold everyone else together rarely get asked the simplest question: Are you okay? In this powerful episode of Between the Prayer and the Promise, host Laneice  sits down with Dr. LaTonya  Baker, author of It's Time to Exhale, for an honest conversation about emotional exhaustion, hidden pain, trauma, toxic relationships, and the silent burden of always being “the strong one.” Together, they unpack how childhood wounds, fear of abandonment, and survival mode can quietly shape the way we love, overgive, and stay connected to people who continue to hurt us. Dr. Baker shares deep insight on boundaries, emotional healing, self-worth, and the difficult process of learning how to receive support instead of always rescuing others. This episode also explores faith, surrender, and what true healing looks like when you stop performing strength and finally allow God to restore the parts of you that have been silently bleeding. From emotional burnout and people-pleasing to rebuilding after loss, this conversation is filled with wisdom, vulnerability, and practical encouragement for anyone carrying too much. In this episode, we discuss: • Emotional exhaustion and burnout • Childhood trauma and fear of abandonment • Toxic relationships and overgiving • Faith, healing, and surrendering control to God • Healthy boundaries and emotional healing • Survival mode, anxiety, and hidden pain • Learning to ask for help without shame • Self-care, restoration, and rediscovering peace • Why strong people struggle in silence • Christian encouragement for healing and growth If you’ve been holding everything together while quietly falling apart inside, this episode is your reminder that healing is possible — and you do not have to carry it all alone. 🎧 Subscribe to Between the Prayer and the Promise for more faith-filled conversations about healing, purpose, breakthrough, and navigating the season between prayer and fulfillment. #EmotionalHealing #FaithPodcast #ChristianPodcast #TraumaHealing #Boundaries #MentalHealthAwareness #HealingJourney #PeoplePleasing #SelfWorth #WomenOfFaith #OvercomingTrauma #EmotionalBurnout #BetweenThePrayerAndThePromise #LaneiceMcGee #DrNataliaBaker Support the show Between the Prayer and the Promise is a podcast under the Laneice Leads platform. 🎧 New episodes release monthly 📍 Pre-recorded and shared on Facebook 👉 Follow & join the conversation on Facebook:  facebook.com/LaneiceLeads   Interested in being a guest?  📩 Guest interest form: https://forms.gle/MWz3XzmWnKJSaGiFA ✨ Remember: God sees you. God Asked Me to Move Before I Had Proof

Send us Fan Mail You can do everything “right” and still feel stuck. You prayed, you obeyed, you believed and the evidence still hasn’t caught up. That’s the tension we sit in today, and we refuse to pretend it’s easy. I’m joined by Dr. Tina J. Ramsey, CEO and media leader behind CTR Media Network, to talk about what obedience looks like when clarity comes after you move. She shares the humbling story of starting a network, failing because she didn’t follow God’s instructions, and rebuilding from scratch with a new foundation of surrender and Isaiah 40:31. We also unpack a surprising truth for high-capacity people: the pause can be the assignment, and rest can be an act of worship. One of the most powerful moments is Dr. Ramsey’s 21-day shutdown from business, no emails, no replies, no chasing opportunities, just prayer, fasting, Scripture, and family. The fear was real, the silence was real, and the opportunities kept coming anyway. That season sharpened her discernment and proved that delayed evidence doesn’t mean denied purpose. She also shares a practical five-step decision framework you can use right now: listen, think, pause, pray, and wait, especially when God feels quiet and your mind is loud. If you’re in a waiting season, wrestling with doubt, anxiety, or the pressure to move fast, come lean in with us. When Sight Fails but Faith Stands

Send us Fan Mail When sight fails… what do you hold onto? What do you do when the world turns white and the wind roars over a knife-edge ridge? In this episode of Between the Prayer and the Promise, we sit down with Brian Dickinson—former U.S. Navy Aviation Rescue Swimmer, solo Mount Everest summiter, and author of Blind Descent—to trace the moment his goggles failed, his vision vanished, and the only way home was one step at a time. At nearly 29,000 feet, with oxygen dwindling and no rescue in sight, Brian leaned on years of elite training to fight panic. But he quickly discovered that survival required more than preparation—it demanded surrender. In this powerful conversation, we explore how discipline and spiritual dependence can coexist without canceling each other out. Brian shares how he navigated by sound and touch along fixed lines, braced against 50-mph winds on a two-foot-wide ridge, and reversed the Hillary Step without sight. He also recounts the quiet presence he felt in the storm—and the simple prayer, “God, I cannot do this alone,” that coincided with renewed strength and even a failed oxygen bottle coming back to life. We unpack Psalm 46:10—“Be still and know that I am God”—not as a decorative verse, but as a survival strategy. Stillness as mental clarity. Stillness as sacred trust. Stillness when outcomes are uncertain. Beyond the summit, Brian speaks candidly about survivor’s guilt, identity, and purpose. What does it mean to come home when hundreds never do? How do you refuse to let your identity freeze around a single achievement? Instead of chasing the next summit, Brian centers his life on faith, family, and service—meeting others on their mountains with honesty and hope. If your path right now feels like a blind descent—whether it’s grief, burnout, or a decision you can’t see through—Brian offers two anchors: Faith and focus. Focus reduces the impossible to the next step. Faith entrusts the outcome to God. Be still. Ask. Listen. Then move. 4. Refined In The Fire

    Refined In The Fire

Send us Fan Mail What if the heat you feel isn’t punishment — but preparation? In this powerful and deeply honest conversation, author and advocate Karol Holmes invites us into the furnace of her story and shows how affliction can become a forge for trust, courage, and costly love. We trace her unexpected journey — from hosting a Haitian infant for heart surgery, to adopting three children with complex medical needs, to walking through the devastating loss of two sons: one in sudden tragedy, and one after decades of suffering. Her story is tender and unvarnished, yet anchored in a steady hope that only grows in valleys. Karol shares the spiritual practices that sustained her when fear and isolation threatened to pull her under. Each morning, she wrote a simple surrender — returning her son to the care of his Creator. Throughout the day, she whispered a breath prayer:  Inhale: “Be still.”  Exhale: “And know that I am God.” Those few words became a lifeline through long nights, relentless “what ifs,” and the ache of leaving her son in a facility two hours away. We talk about how Scripture moved from the page into her body.  How honesty deepened her relationship with Jesus.  And how sometimes God answers by lightening the load — and sometimes by strengthening your back. Along the way, we explore: Sovereignty and choice without fear-driven formulasThe hidden grace of a home guarded from blame after tragedyThe quiet gifts of ordinary joy when Moise finally lived close to homeKarol’s witness reframes affliction as formation — inviting us to see God’s nearness where we least expect it. If you’re walking through your own furnace, this conversation will give you language for surrender, tools for anxiety, and a fresh vision of refining fire that shapes rather than destroys. If this episode met you in the heat, share it with someone you love, subscribe to the show, and leave a review with one practice you’ll try this week. Send us Fan Mail Stop Waiting for a Burning Bush We often believe purpose will arrive in a single, undeniable moment—a burning bush, a prophetic word, a clear sign that changes everything overnight.  But what if purpose isn’t always revealed in stillness…  What if it’s revealed while you’re already in motion? In this episode of Between the Prayer and the Promise, host Laneice Runnels invites you into an honest, faith-filled conversation about the in-between season—the place where identity is formed, faith is refined, and purpose begins to unfold through serving. Why I Created This Space: A Story From the In-Between

Send us Fan Mail This episode shares the heart behind Between the Prayer and the Promise. There are seasons in life when you’re not where you used to be, but you’re also unsure of what’s next. The waiting feels heavy. The prayers feel quiet. And faith feels stretched in ways you never expected. In this opening episode, I share a personal story from a season when I felt lost, unseen, and unsure—even to the point where I struggled to pray. I reflect on how a simple, unexpected act of kindness became a reminder that God sees us, even in moments when we feel forgotten. This episode is for anyone navigating the in-between—those holding on to faith while waiting for clarity, healing, direction, or fulfillment of a promise. It’s a reminder that the waiting is not wasted, and that God is faithful in every season, especially the ones that test us most. If you’ve ever felt stuck between what you’ve prayed for and what you’re still believing for, this space was created for you. “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”  — Hebrews 10:23 (NIV) Support the show Between the Prayer and the Promise is a podcast under the Laneice Leads platform.
