Who Am I in All of This?

Send us Fan Mail In this episode, we step away from the timeline of our mom’s illness to talk about something less visible—but just as real. What happens to you in the middle of all of it? When you’re constantly moving between roles—parent, caregiver, professional—you don’t always notice the shift happening. You’re showing up. You’re functioning. You’re doing what needs to be done. But somewhere along the way… you can start to feel disconnected from yourself. We talk about what it’s like to live in that space—where everything looks the same on the outside, but internally something feels different. And what happens when things finally slow down… and instead of clarity, you’re left with the question: Now what? If you’ve ever felt like you’ve lost a piece of yourself while trying to be everything for everyone else—this conversation is for you. 🎙 The Sh!t Sandwich Generation is hosted by sisters MaryBeth and Susan — raw, honest conversations about navigating life between aging parents, growing kids, and everything in between. 📱 Instagram: @marybethp6  💻 pursuelifecoaching.com/podcast-1  🥪 Have a sandwich story? How Do You Choose? The Sandwich is loaded with Guilt!

Send us Fan Mail How do you choose between your kids and your parents when both need you at the same time? In Episode 5, MaryBeth and Susan unpack one of the heaviest parts of the sandwich generation: guilt. The guilt of not spending enough time with aging parents. The guilt of missing moments with your kids. The guilt of putting work, goals, and your own life on hold while trying to care for everyone else. And the guilt that comes from feeling pulled in completely opposite directions — all at the same time. This episode explores the invisible pressure of being “the responsible one,” the emotional weight of caregiving, sibling dynamics, resentment, exhaustion, and the constant feeling that no matter what you choose… someone loses. Raw, honest, and deeply relatable, this conversation reminds listeners they are not alone in carrying the emotional weight of trying to do it all. When There's No Clear Answer

Send us Fan Mail This episode continues our Mom's healthcare journey - when everything shifted from trying to understand what was happening... to being asked to make a decision we didn't feel ready to make. Do we stay local or go into the city?  Do we pursue a clinical trial?  When is something an emergency - and what do you do in that moment? We share what it actually felt like to navigate those decisions in real time - balancing information, emotion, and the weight of responsibility. When things escalated and she began bleeding, everything became urgent.  Decisions had to be made quickly, without clarity, and without the luxury of time. We also talk about something that helped us along the way - the "rule of 3": getting multiple opinions to find some direction when there isn't a clear answer. Because this is the part no one prepares you for. You don't get certainty. You just take the next step.
